Heard so many good things so just bought small backpacking chair and stainless steel 400ml mug with fold out handle 4 quid over moon with quality for price will be buying more of there gear
Great video Andy I lived in France for 14 years and decathlon was the go to shop for everything. Never had anything bad , great value for money and just goes to show you can get great value for money without buying so called leading brands…
Agreed, I cycle toured France six years ago and fitted out everything from decathlon bar the tent and still use most of the stuff daily to this day especially the blow up esky and s/s mug
I think this is my favourite kit video you have done, some products here that could actually be game changers for both experienced and novice campers, well done 😊
👍👍👍 Decathlon sells good gear and their product guarantees with a no-hassle return / exchange policy being the cream on the top. Dealings with my branch in Basel, Switzerland can attest to that. Trekking Poles .. I Nordic Walk regularly and use their 500 range aluminium poles in addition to being used as poles for my Tarp. I prefer Aluminium in that although it may be heavier than Carbon Fibre, it is more durable. Some of my Nordic Walking Colleagues have had problems with carbon pole failure .. and splintered Carbon Fibre is not as repairable in the field as Aluminium, 'if' the aluminium version ever did fail. A good share .. thanks. Take care ..
Good video. All good recommendations. I have the trekking pillow, i use my down jacket sometimes to stuff the case, then inflate it and its makes it even warmer!
Another quality vid Andy, ace to see budget gear being reviewed. I always like how you drop your voice volume when you emphasise just how good something is, so full of enthusiasm 👍👊😉
Hi Andy, I’m a Decathlon fan as well and thanks for an excellent video. I did think that you were unfair with the trekking poles though. A pair of similar Black Diamond alloy z poles would set you back £140 so the Decathlon poles are a reasonable price .
Absolutely love your reviews. They are so helpful. Just one request, could you make it clear at the start of your reviews if you have been given the gear free of charge to review? You always seem so enthusiastic so it would be good to know the background to the review.
I haven't heard Decathlon giving gear to anyone yet. They do pay youtubers for ads, but that's clearly stated, outside of that I haven't heard they've ever sent stuff for free. They don't need to, to be honest.
swapping my gear out for ultralite so i can do solo multi day hikes comfortably. ive ordered the forclaz bag and the forclaz 900 sleeping pad. I love budget buys. Also gone for the lanshan 1 pro ul. so excited! Thanks for a great review.
If I lost all my camping kit to a burglary or a fire I would have no issue getting everything I need from Decathlon. I have a pair of trousers, trekking pole, 1P tent, and couple other items, and I know they are a very decent quality.
I love my decathlon stuff I own. What they always fail in is colour and weight. I know their target audience differs so being visible is key, but UK prefers darker colours. Quality of the tents are awesome but again people will choose lighter options. I've had the sleep mat for a few years now and it's never let me down
I know what you mean about tent colours. In the UK we very much like green and sand colours. It's funny, when I review a dark green tent, people from other countries see them as a sweat box!
@@BackpackingUK Yep, I think that it is more of a case of aesthetics. 'Stealth Camping' is not as popular in Europe as elsewhere .. often 'being visible' the preferred option. Anyway, 'Nature' could not care less the colour of one's tent, gear and clothing.
Decathlon certainly do some great value for money gear, I've got some symond hiking/mountaineering stretchy trousers that only cost me £40 or so....they have lasted better than a pair of £80 Rab trousers I had, I can't fault them for the price.
Nearly bought that stove but it doesn't have a regulator so I went for the Soto Windmaster instead. I don't mind paying the extra £20 so I can use it all year round.
We use all-in-one stoves during winter, mainly because the little stoves really struggle with the cold and wind. We’re yet to find a regulated stove that works really well with a half-empty gas canister. As much as I rate the Soto and MSR stoves they’re still not perfect.
Ignoring those white trekking pole tents (kudos for the process - but wild camp in the UK in a white tent and blend in? Only in the snow), the majority of their tents pitch inner first, so when you arrive at camp and the rain is pissing down you’re going to get the inner wet as part of the pitching process, that’s a no-no for me. That mat looks uncannily similar to the Klymit mats, no? The 1-person cook set is probably the best piece of kit for VFM, I’d like to see a titanium version of the pot to get the weight down.
I'd say the majority of their products are 10/10 value for money. You also get gear that a lot of R&D has been invested into and their products carry a warranty too. You can't really go wrong!
This is a cool place if ya on a budget or just starting out. I swear by their down jackets they are really great… on a separate note have you seen the new nemo pad due out later this year R8+ and regular wide was under 600g it’s thermarest style and black
Trangia is really nice for actual cooking with the 2 pots and pan and heat distribution and pot stability is really good with the Trangia. These decathlon sets are more minimalistic and light weight though. I like to actually cook outside and really love my Trangia for that.
I've got the pillow and sleep mat, both absolutely faultless and that's after trying more expensive ones that i'd struggled to sleep on. You can't go wrong with decathlon, I swear by their stuff and have just bought one of their bikes to use for bikepacking, another bargain.
Interesting! I love the tent design (white tents) but wouldn’t buy because of the colour - they look like plastic bags. That aside, Decathlon are really upping their game.
If you can ever get your hands on the Quechua quick hiker ultralight 2 tent grab it,it is one of the best tents ever made retailed for £110 and had DAC poles and pegs ,I still use mine .they brought out a newer version but it was not as good and alot more expensive.
I'm currently looking at this sleeping bag for my backpacking kit. I'm trying to decide between two sizes as I'm 161cm and the size guide has my height as the upper limit for small and lower limit for medium. I'm thinking of going for the small as I know too much room can go against keeping warm. What would you recommend? Thanks for the great review!
I do not know why they made outdoor products that are white, they say that is bc the dyeing uses a lot of water, but the problem that these could get dirty very quickly. Bad choice, but the good thing that there is a white version and a dyed version, so you have to wait to have the dyed ones.
I have the one with the replaceable battery that charges via USB and also takes AAA batteries. Have used it for 5+ years and it's still going strong. Climbing, camping, hiking,... I have a Petzl Actic Core as well, which is pretty similar. I prefer the buttons on the Decathlon torch, but the battery pack attachment is better for the Petzl. Light wise both are pretty interchangeable. Good bit of kit.
Do not buy any Decathlon items! Ordered a down jacket, it never arrived and even though I paid for the extra ""shipping insurance", they won't reimburse me or ship me a new one. Stay away from this company, especially if you plan to order through the mail. Take my warning unless you want to spend money and get nothing in return.
You’re bitching about one miserable down jacket that never arrived??!! Surely that must be enough reason for most readers here to never buy Decathlon products, get a life!! 😂😂

I just love Decathlon 😍 they have great product for the low budget, good quality without breaking your pockets! Thanks for the review!
I’m a fan of Decathlon stuff, especially Forclaz and Solognac series. Can’t go wrong with that.
The Forclaz gear is genuinely really good 👍

Love my 2 man trekking pole tent, made it even lighter too by making myself some carbon fibre poles and pegs

Recently bought some Decathlon kit for campsite camping with the missus. For the price, it can't be beaten. Great video 👍

Lately they’ve moved to white to reduce their carbon footprint. That is the only reason why their newer gear is that colour
You are right. Decathlon tents are pot ugly
What a great video, thanks bud.
I have the last tent :) and the mat! Super happy with them, wish the mat was warmer but they got a mt900 version now with super high R rating

The tarp tent is underrated!

Some bluddy good value for money 👌🏼 what’s happened to your tracking videos, seems like forever ago?
Not to be a kill joy but 304 is bog standard ss 316 is food grade 😊
The trekking tarp tent has one huge completely vertical wall, i can see this caving in if hit by strong winds
Yes, not the smartest design
Are you planning on using these items out on trail? I’d be interested to see how they hold up 😊
Check out the Brecon Beacons wild camping video, we used it all!
I'd love to see a comparison between the mt500 lightweight camping stove and the popular Soto Windmaster. It looks like a clone at half the price
Have to agree Decathlon to have some great gear.
Great video. What are your thoughts on the mt900 tunnel tent version for 2 or 3 people?
Impeccable timing! I've just received decathlon vouchers and have been watching your channel to prepare for my first wild camp 🏕
Happy Days!

Does anyone know? Will the backpacking stove fit inside the 1P Cookset with a canister?
Hi there! Do you know if you can use the camping stove in the US as well?
Yes, definitely!
Great list of things covered thanks. I noticed you mentioned dye/tent dye it a few times, is it a bad thing?
I didn’t realise but dying tents use an enormous amount of water in the process.
@@BackpackingUK Oh that's something I wasn't aware of thanks.

This is true but you’ll have more wriggle room in the medium. It depends what sort of sleeper you are. I’m restless!
Thanks, decided on the medium as I do like to be able to move!

why does it say 1 person tent on the 2 person tent when your holding it up
