I bought mine ten years ago and it is still one of my favourite music devices.

the only volca I have is the FM, and it's so good

I have never owned the FM but I think I should look into it, the price is just too hard to pass up.

Nothing wrong with your unit. Delay is what it is, and i like it for soundscapeing.

Good info thank you! Having some character is ultimately a good thing, and you make a good point… it does sound good for soundscapes.

roland s-1 might be the bang for the buck champ, but loves keys, fm2 and bass

Yes this is a great point, the S-1 is like the spiritual successor to the keys with another voice and more features. I like the sound of the keys more but I pretty much guarantee I will own an S-1 one day.

@@HiImNathan I tried and liked the S-1 but wasn’t overwhelmed with the sound and sent it back. Something about the sound of the keys 😎

@@john678I have the s-1 and it’s ahead just because of the sequencer. 😂

I love the camera frame, the lapel mic on the lapel, and the big hand gestures in the into. Your description is spot on as well with all the links one could hope for. Well edited as usual! Love your enthusiasm for the subject matter and the research you do to share with us. Anecdote: I know so many piano players who have been proper told off by organists "oh, you're NOT an organ player. give me my chair back."

You know, I had to reshot the intro because I held the mic...I thought of your comments on one of my previous videos and I think you're right, it works much better even if I feel awkward. You're the man thank you!

You are still learning, as you say yourself, but I feel you really have something going on. You're interesting and relatable. Keep it up! 👌🏼
The hesitating focus (probably due to the blinking tempo led) was kind of fun as a surprise effect. :)

You are too kind, thank you for the generous comment. So far I have loved making videos and am always excited for the next one! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
The focus hunting does make for a trippy effect I guess, you're right!

Volca Keys is the most underrated piece of gear. Nowadays it's about a hundred and i don't know ANY poly synth in history that was THAT cheap. And also that good for the price. How on earth people missed out on this brilliant gear is beyond me. Good to see someone mentioned it again.
But it seems that even Korg dropped the ball, we had so many Volcas reissues or variations but Keys was kinda abandoned. And i would love to see some variations... maybe NuKeys with a tube compression or something interesting. Or even a new synth with better keyboard... And Korg did nothing.
Very good review! BUt it seems like TH-cam still keeping small and new channels in algo jail.

This comment feels like it came from my brain, thanks for this. An update is a really interesting idea and not one I even considered. I love the Keys for what she is but tube compression is a fascinating idea...I think I would love to have reverb built in, it just opens the sound up immediately.
Algo jail lol. I definitely feel like I'm locked in there half the time but you commenting helps me and others break free!
