Today I've got yet another Volca Keys sound design trick to show you! This is more of a trick for designing sounds that you want to sample into other gear. By using the Volca Keys' sequencer, set on the "1/4" note length, and with the tempo set to it's lowest point, record a single note for a few seconds. Then, you can use "motion sequencing" (basically Korg's version of parameter locks) to change the sound in real time, recording in your parameter changes as you make them. By playing back your "sequence" the Volca Keys will give the illusion of one note being held down, and this makes it very simple to sample into another piece of gear. Not a ground breaking tip, but just one more way you can push the Volca Keys a little bit further! Enjoy the video :)

Hey, Happy 4th Bro. I finally ordered 0ne of these -- when I learned this new Volca Keys Drone hack, put up in a vid by Electro Magnetic Channel, "Can it do this, Volca Keys Drone". U probably know about this, but maybe not. Its not the old plug in hack, this is a new one.

Actually, it was exactlly the video I've been looking for for ages. I badly needed to record just one note, and expand it so that I can record a tape loop. Great video. Thanks mate!

Great! I had no idea it could do all that on a sequence. Very cool tip!

i think its stepping because of the low reolution that the keys records the changes in - kinda 'pixellating' your motion.

One of my personal favorite tricks for sequencing the Keys is to use that 1/4 TEMPO divide with FLUX enabled, arm it to record, and then play an arpeggiator through Midi In (Microkorg is what I used).
Although the Keys will slave to the Midi In bpm, you sometimes have to time it just right for the loop to sound perfect. But when it works, you get a full 64-step sequence. I wish the Volca Bass could do this! ;)

Hi! Your channel is a gem! Do you intend to produce a video on how to sequence a Volca (preferably synth) with an Elektron model?

I want to buy one of the Korg Volca but i cant decide between the Volca Keys and Volca Bass. Which one is more usefull for Techno?

If you wanted the fader movement to record exactly as you've done it, you could always hit play on the keys and record it straight into your DAW and then use that as a sample.

this kind of stepping isn't much of a problem if you're sampling it into a granular synth/sampler like the Texture Lab or Black Box

Love this and thanks but have u thought about making it a TH-cam short? I reckon u could cram the content into 30 seconds
