    In the beginning of this video, Harnoncourt looks like dancing to the music and it is fascinating to me. Music is in our body. It is a way to connect to the nature and other humans. Likewise, "Bach" is in each human's body and mind. Our challenge is never giving up trying to reach it.

And this is one of my favorite Bach cantata of all. When I always listen to the first coro of this cantata with his conducting, I imagine the entrance of Heaven. I believe that Maestro Harnoncourt is with Bach and playing heavenly music together there.

    How wonderful to hear the original setting of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." According to Wikipedia, this is the translation from the first chorale when it is sung:
    Well for me that I have Jesus,
    O how tightly I hold him
    that he might refresh my heart,
    when I'm sick and sad.
    Jesus I have, who loves me
    and gives himself to me,
    ah, therefore I will not leave Jesus,
    Even if I feel my heart is breaking.
    And the second chorale:
    Jesus remains my joy,
    my heart's comfort and essence,
    Jesus fends off all suffering,
    He is my life's strength,
    my eye's desire and sun,
    my soul's treasure and pleasure;
    Therefore I will not leave Jesus
    out of heart and face

      Not bad but works much better in German:
      Wohl mir, dass ich Jesum habe,
      O wie feste halt ich ihn,
      Dass er mir mein Herze labe,
      Wenn ich krank und traurig bin.
      Jesum hab ich, der mich liebet
      Und sich mir zu eigen gibet;
      Ach drum lass ich Jesum nicht,
      Wenn mir gleich mein Herze bricht
      Not that i'm a christian btw, but Bach transcends every damn thing.
      My dad was a Christian and Catholic rather than Lutheran but above all a good guy. I requested this wonderful chorale at his funeral service but refused to request it in the well-known but not very accurate and not very beautiful English translation - it took about 10 minutes for the PP to realise that Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben was what he knew as Jesu joy etc...

    I like how the orchestra and the choir managed to achieve a nice kind of sonority... also the tempi harnoncourt set was just at the right pace in particular jesus bleibet meine freund which many orchestras play too slowly and hence the music does not flow too naturally

    In my opinion, Johann Sebastian Bach was the biggest musicien, in terms of Coral Music ... In fact, he was the biggest name of the Classic Music.

    0:09 It is very nice that Maestro Harnoncourt is happily conducting the BWV147. The orchestra and chorus are perfectly integrated.
    25:56 He's totally in the zone here. This is a really great performance.
    0:09マエストロ・アーノンクールさんが楽しそうにBWV147を指揮しているのがとてもいい。オーケストラと合唱が見事に一体になっている。
    25:56 ここでは完全にゾーンに入っている。本当にすばらしい演奏です。
