Could you upload the better quality version? Especially the sound quality is way too compressed and has a lot of noise.
Despite of its little imperfections still the best interpretation for me. What dramatism & lyricism! What an overwhelming dramaturgical structuring of each movement and the whole mass! Good old Nicky, we miss you so much!
What would be the imperfections?
@@Rthierry
The little imperfections in my eyes are: the bass clarinets (Bassetthörner) are a bit flat, not completely in tune at the opening section of the Introitus; at 16:14 (Recordare) one of the first violinists plays a B flat instead of B natural; In the postlude of the same movement the violins are quite out of tune; the size and sound of the choir is not ideal (it much too often covers the orchestra sound, the vibrato of the choir singers is a bit too strong) etc. But most of these are there because it is a live recording and are all balanced by the enormous musical quality that makes this performance unbeatable to me. On the LP (later CD) version most of them are corrected.
@@bachlover65 Tysm for your answer!
Thank you.
This is such an excellent version!! top 10 for sure.
since so many years still the best Interpretation. The CD-recording however is way better than this live-performance. I always liked the dualism of the period-instrument-hip-orchestra and that thick wagnerian sound-wall of the Vienna State Opera Choir.
