I bought a new BMW R1200RT in 2012 in Germany as I was stationed there in the U.S. Army (USA specifications but I still remain in Germany!). I have pushed this bike to its limits in special "ADAC" motorcycle training on the "track" and back-roads with German motorcycle clubs in addition to riding steady on the "Autobahn" cruising at 110+ MPH when I just needed to get to the next far away town or home. or commuting daily 80km each way to work on the Autobahn near Frankfurt. I have also ridden comfortably 2-up travel with my wife at times. I still have the same bike in 2022. It is a great "all rounder." Feels sporty enough and easy to handle despite the weight due to the low center of gravity boxer motor while still providing great touring ability and safety due to all of its features (e.g. strong anti-lock breaks, great luggage storage capacity (two helmets in the top case alone), heated seats, heated grips, radio, adjustable electronically adjustable suspension, push button adjustable windshield, shaft drive (no oiling of the chain) and very stable "telelever" suspension etc.). I am not at all connected to this dealership, but if you can get a bike of this caliber with such low mileage with a verifiable maintenance history for under $8000, then I can only say you are getting a great motorcycle for a great price given the longevity and reputation of the r1200rt motorcycle. Gute Fahrt!

Agreed Brett! I bought my ‘11 r1200rt in 2014 with just under 11,000 miles on it.
Premium package all the bells and whistles, super clean and well taken care of. I had never owned a boxer or any BMW before this one as I’d come from inline 4’s. Took me a little time to get used to it but I got settled into it fairly quick and what a gem of bike this is. It boogies when you want to and is absolute butter on long rides. Here it is 2022 and I now have 26,000 miles on it. Not that many for it being a 11 year old sport touring bike. Not one problem other than warranty work. I highly recommend these bikes!

Best tourer ever. Soon will switch from BMW F700GS to that engine. 🇩🇪👍🏼

I've been on Australian roads for 27 years. Have always ridden in sports bikes until the last two years I've rode this model. Utter comfort and wished I jumped on one earlier 🙏🙌 ride for days!

Yes. You can ride them very aggressively, overtake the young fellas in the twisties with the stereo playing something old-school as an extra “tea-bagging”

They had a GPS unit available as an option on those bikes, it was called a BMW Navigator.

Bonjour.

Twin? I think they call it "Boxer" (by Carl Benz 1896). So it's not a V-180° engine. 🇩🇪

It weighs more than 100# LESS than a Concours14.

You are correct! I put many miles on the C14 Concours with larger shield, custom seat(s), etc… My R1200/RT DOHC is far more comfortable, handles extremely well, if not as powerful as the C14.

Stick a Corbin seat on it and it’s a tourer’s heaven.

    " I do believe it's a twin"
    Ignorance is bliss.
Tell me you have absolutely no bike culture, without telling it to me.
