This is one of the most unique, creepy and fascinating stories I've ever experienced in a game... I've watched and read every single collective I've picked up, which is something I never do with other games. Something about the story has me hooked and I'm loving it...
about hidden areas, look at one of the wall paintings: the broken looking painting, you can actually shoot it, keep shooting at the wall, behind it there are items/chests you can get. Figured it out myself while playing. Very nice game 👍🏻
I too found this by accident. I was going through the game and made a point of using melee to smash every painting I saw. I was just doing it for fun. Anyway, I hit the picture of a hole in a broken wall and the wall behind it crumbled, so i thought "Hang on, that looks like a room behind there" so kept on hitting it unti I could get through. Found two boxes with prime mods in them! I've now found 3 paintings like this all with breakable walls and secret rooms behind them. Keeping my eyes open for more.
This game has really shaped up to be something unique and special. Not too heavy handed on the obscurity or "look how random this is" stuff, which is good. It handles the story seriously enough, with a few doses of humor (some of Dr. Darling's videos are golden) sprinkled in. One of the best original concepts for a game I've seen in a long time!
I love this new platinum trophy aspect you guys have added to PS Access. It's showing a deeper appreciation, and attention to the games you play, rather than a cursory play and present style. Obviously we all know you guys have gone very deep into games, but it was less varied than it is becoming with this new plat hunt mode - keep up the great work!
I never really got into it at the start, then the buildings start getting different, visuals get elaborate, the powers and the ASHTRAY MAZE level, this is really a hidden gem
@gothael1 Tl;dr tbh, I played Control yesterday and I have to agree on this very hard 😂 Yesterday found a room I haven‘t visited yet. There was a milling machine/big printer sort of thing. Damn. The chills of the memories of SCP-914 kicked me hard 🤣
Just Platinum'ed the game...without knowing you could stack items with the square button, smh. I learned though that you can use (very quickly) the hiss-floating bodies as a plataform to gain more altitude when levitating.
I cant wait to start flying however I'm enjoying the whole Telekinesis power. As of right now I've barely made it to the nuclear plant check point. My guess is that I might be still in the beginning. Oh and by the way the Mail room with the first boss was extremely hard for me however I did manage to pass that part. This game is awesome. I still can't believe I only have a level 2 Clearance. I've seen a lot of doors with level 4 as well as level 5. I can't wait to see what's behind those doors.
Even with all the performance issues (which was a constant throughout my playtime with the game), I highly enjoyed it. I admired the ambition and scope of the game but it's pretty hard to navigate the oldest house when your map outright doesn't work or when the amount of things flying around the screen is just too much for the base PS4.
I just got it for PS5 and it runs really well on there. Sometimes the fast travel is even instantaneous, if you’re staying in the same sector. I’ve hit X to accept the fast travel destination, and I end up levitating in the new area, because it loads that quickly.
Forgot to mention the amount of reading you'll need to do to completely appreciate the game's world and lore. I personally love this game but definitely not for everyone.
Oooh! That stacking one is awesome and was something I was trying to figure out naturally but I guess I gave up too quickly and thought the game didn't want me to stack stuff/the physics wouldn't work. Awesome video! Love this channel. Wish it would pop up much more often over some of my "other" subs.
For people who are interested in the environments, I highly recommend watching the Control playthroughs of Secret Sleepover Society. Julia is an artist, and it's really cool to hear her talk about the architecture and why it works so well in this game.
Alsop's Gaming - It never crashed for me on the Pro, but it runs poorly when there’s a lot goin’ on on the base PS4. It becomes annoying to play before I go to sleep.
I was enjoying the game but it’s not very helpful to the player in how to use the ability/weapon mods and also actually finding where you’re supposed to go.
I played this for 15mins once and thought it was good , but was playing other games. I then thought to download it again and try and wow. I'm hooked now . Halfway through
I enjoyed Control. A couple of monsters beat the poo out of me (the pit. Bro. I think the game just gave me that kill after 10 tries). I thought the game was way more complex than it actually was. There're like three or four things the game wants you to figure out on your own. Then the rest is just world-building. I was scrutinizing the case files, audio recordings, etc when I didn't need to. I wish I knew the ability where you drop and do impact damage didn't require the drop to be vertical.
Thanks for the tip about placing launch items down gently! That's something I wanted to do at a couple of places but didn't know could be done. Will definitely try it during my next gaming session.
Good game but highly flawed and frustrating. Some things that would make it better (patch?): add easy difficulty level, more checkpoints, tell gamer difficulty level of missions (easy/med/hard), more hints during load screens. For instance, it took a while to figure out that you can only assign 3 board countermeasures at once. Control is not for everyone, most appealing to people who want to figure everything out without much help. It is also filled with writing and vocabulary words that are quite difficult to understand. Which is why I found reading the in-game collectibles to be more confusing than not doing so. Anyway, this is the best tips video I have seen, thanks for doing it!
I wish I'd known the arcade outfit prize is ultra bugged. Foundation added the outfit in my inventory. You have ASSIST mode in options. The possessed vending machines are bugged. Never found one.
I just found out you can have more than one board countermeasure active at one time. That sure wouldn’t have helped and saved some time, had I known that earlier. I’m just a few chapters in, but I’ve really been enjoying this uniquely creepy game.
Thanks for the 11th tip. I was trying to stack up boxes to reach the higher level in order to reach black stone quarry mission but all in vain. I don’t have levity power yet
I loved the premise and concept behind it, I just wished they spent more time on each AI and OoP. Some of them just felt like power ups for easier gameplay (reading the collectibles get tedious after a while). Think about the SCP foundation wiki, those short stories just add so much more to the creatures/items they classify and capture. At the end of the day, it felt like a summarised item-only SCP walkthrough, but a beautiful and fun game on it’s own. Edit: PLEASE TELL ME THERE ARE DLCs COMING
Some good stuff, if only I'd seen this earlier. I nearly gave up on Control today. I always buff health in every game early on, nothing else matters if you're dead. Great game for weirdness but it seems to have trouble deciding what it wants to be. The puzzles are often frustrating to the point of un-enjoyable, but loving the mixed supernatural and gun play combat.
