Younger sibling problem - when your older sibling "helps you with a hard part" then never gives the controller back.

I don't know what is more scary. The unhinged stuff Rob and his sister were up to in their childhood (just thinking of the Taxi game for instance).
Or the possibility that Rob doesn't even have a sister and the stories he told all these years were just a figment of his imagination.

I actually have very fond memories playing Final Fantasies 7-9 with my two younger brothers. We played then together, taking turns to grind levels or switching between mini games depending on who was better or liked them more. We'd get home from school or spend a Saturday with one of us playing, one just watching for enjoyment, and the third reading the strategy guide aloud. Good times.

7 Problems Only-Child Gamers will understand
    1. Playing co-op platformers (i.e. Little Big Planet) using both controllers
    2. Being surprised when real people are actually better than you in fighting/racing games.
    3. Limited gaming library due to only getting games on your one birthday every year.
    4. Not having a younger sibling to do the "EXP grinding" for you
    5. Having to play with your gaming-inept parents
    6. Not having an older sibling to purchase the "M-rated" games for you.

Shut the door and realized he turned into our dad that moment. Our dad passed in 2011 so it was one of those couldn’t help but laugh at it as he felt bad for it. Imagine if you are not only a not-quote-middle child, but your siblings are non-gamer girls. To this day arguments can break out over anything and you likely know how middle-aged/elderly mothers react to being disagreed with. I doubt there's a person with siblings alive who isn't going to vividly remember times when their parents overreacted to something little.

Me and my brother have argued plenty over the years but it's rarely been gaming related, at least as far as I can remember. Could have to do with him becoming a gamer much earlier than me (so not much sharing) and him being generally ok with me watching him. The most gaming I did at that time was playing multiplayer with him, lots of fond memories there. I started actually gaming when I watched him play Assassin's Creed 2 and it looked so fun I wanted to play it myself, and have been a gamer ever since.
So the memories I have about gaming with my bro are positive.

I am the middle child of five siblings. Sharing a game or console was always a bloodbath. My sister especially would twist my arm about being able to play on the console and why i should let her bc it's 'the family's' console... only when we tried using the same logic on her, it would result in her throwing a tantrum.
The other issue we always had was siblings taking disks out of the consoles and leaving them on the floor instead of putting them back in the box. But god forbid i do the same to them. Little sister scratched my copy of mega man legends and i had to sit there and take it. But then i accidentally dropped her copy of harry potter and suddenly i was a monster.

Number of my brothers save files I overwrited to save my gran turismo save. I ended up with my own memory card. You have to help your older sibling sometimes

You don't know sibling angst until you've competed for power ups in two player Bubble Bobble

No co-op fighting over enemies, loot, personal space of the characters?
“I’m fighting this guy, get away from me.”
“I needed that health! You were only down one hit, I’m almost dead!”
    Double Dragon, Contra, Ultimate Alliance…
Sure, you might argue over that with friends, but siblings take it to another level.

I get it, but only by feeling and not from an experiece. Me and my sister used to play a lot of Musou games such Sengoku Basara and Samurai Warriors. Despite that, I have a big age gap with her (14 years) and when we started playing those games she was around 10 and both us knew how to support each other. Probably because of our big age gap.

You forgot to include when your sibling is a sore loser after losing a multiplayer match. Especially when they turn the console off before the win record can be saved.

This week’s list hit me twice: once because I experienced most of those things as a kid with my brother, and twice because I’m now seeing all of these things play out with my own children 😅

Agree on all the 7 ones! BUT, what about the beauty of playing with a sibling. Me and my sibling bonded a lot sitting side by side and discovering everything Kingdom Hearts. Good times.

The worst for me was when I was playing Black Ops 1 and I had a wired controller, brother comes running in, trips over the cable, pulls the playstation off the side, laser burns the disc and breaks the controller! Unbelievable!

The player 1 thing is a total myth perpetrated by the video game industry. It was always decided that player 1 was the person sitting on the left side and player 2 was the person on the right side. Otherwise it got confusing.
