Even though Trench and Darling's roles were relatively small in Control, they're acting and narration was so AMAZING that they left a HUGE impact on the game. The game wouldn't be NEARBY as great without them.
Getting to meet him that night was AWESOME. Getting to tell him that his cameo was the only good thing about the damn MP movie even better. Was kind of insane a bit later when he's just standing out in the main hall, surrounded by con-goers, and NO ONE realizes who he is.
Matthew Porretta is a legend as Dr. Darling. Don't get me wrong, I love Allan Wake's personification, but Darling seems to be more complex to play in order to be expressed as a hole: sarcastic, out-of-its-mind, desperate and absolutely funny.
He chewed the scenery, he was so alive!! It was a real shame we never got to meet him in the flesh. Hopefully we get to meet his new resonance form one day 🥲
Well if you played Control, Jesse says this: (POTENTIONAL SPOILER): This is my mass to clean. So she basically undirectly caused this when playing as a child in Ordinary as she did not burn the last disk with the hiss. And then the old men came and fricked up the situation the most by using it.
@@tom_606HQI believe that Jesse did burn the projector slide with the Hiss on it. The only one she didn't burn was the one Polaris came from (it was called 'Hand', I think). However, the FBC later recovered the burnt slides, and the one with the Hiss on it was still usable (although they didn't know the Hiss was there ofc). They eventually used it in the Projector, with Darling and Trench making an expedition into the portal it subsequently opened, with Trench getting infected by the Hiss and bringing it back into the Oldest House.

I'm sitting in the audience for this panel and I was truly bugging out when they added it like 8 days before the convention. Thank God it wasn't as well noticed in the schedule so there wasn't 200 people crammed into the place.

His writing in Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Control is some of the most gripping stuff I've ever read and experienced. A true creative genius. And yeah James McCaffrey is the freakin man. I just played control, and it's probably one of the best games I played in a long time. I heard a lot of controversies about this game, some people didn't like it for some reason and I still can't understand why. The composition of each frame, the fluid gameplay, the way all the pieces of the story come up together, the sound design, everything is so unique.
Same-one of my favorites of all time. My only gripe is that some of the bosses (only some) are *absurdly* difficult. Overall, the game prioritizes skill, which is good, but it can seem too hard at times for some bosses. Example: The “mold one” (or whatever the name is) boss in the AWE DLC.
dude. as i continue replaying and replaying this game.. i kept thinking "man... more people need to experience this. like how have they not sold a million copies?" but i feel like it would be annoying having a million people over-analyzing everything and trying to crack all of its mysterious codes. i just wish that remedy got as much recognition as any other developer. but man.. this fucking game is literally perfect. just got done with the dlc. looking forward to more. Remedy needs way more recognition, Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control are beautiful games to it's time, with great and creative stories and awesome gameplay, can't wait for Alan Wake 2
Control is easily my favorite game of 2019 and I hope a sequel is in the works because this game has so much attention to detail, the characters and the world building is top notch!

It's very cool about Remedy and the idea of an "all star cast" - goes to show how important the actors are to the characters and how the alignment between them truly brings MAGIC to the final product. There's something about Remedy creative design, Sam Lake's vision, and then the actors bringing it about - you can't put your finger around it, but when you play the games it's so natural you absolutely feel it :)
You know what was really interesting about this game is where they took their visual inspirations from. Watching the movie Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy I feel like there were a number of locations the game either drew from the same inspiration or was inspired by.
Completed Control on ps4 the other day got my platinum trophy. Been wearing my awesome preorder t-shirtwith pride :) - Control is the best remedy game yet IMO. (and given the quality of the other titles that is saying alot!) Keep rocking team remedy from one VERY satisfied customer. Cannot wait to see where you go next with next generation of hardware...
Remedy is one of the last gaming holdouts that runs their own game engine, and a good game engine at that. Having played Control only recently it's really impressive technically. To think what they could do for modern consoles exclusively with Control 2 is going to be cool to see.
Quentin Tarantino usually has his set of actors he uses for his movies, and so does remedy for their games. As a fan it's a real treat to see some of the actors reprires or take on new roles.

They had said they were keeping a lot of the material under wraps. If you watch the Q and A, I'm the third guy in, in my case, it was more just getting to tell these guys how awesome they were.
This game had me scratching my head the whole time, and left quite an impression. I feel like this will be an underrated masterpiece. It was such a unique concept to me.
Love the ways that a Whale Hunter and a Spud combine to create a generation definer. Such a great game. Beth’s performance should be held on a pedestal, as a great VG performance.

It's very cool about Remedy and the idea of an "all star cast" - goes to show how important the actors are to the characters and how the alignment between them truly brings MAGIC to the final product. There's something about Remedy creative design, Sam Lake's vision, and then the actors bringing it about - you can't put your finger around it, but when you play the games it's so natural you absolutely feel it :)
Honestly, Remedyverse is the video game video game version of Nolanverse. The complexity is truly worth a dig.
You know what was really interesting about this game is where they took their visual inspirations from. Watching the movie Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy I feel like there were a number of locations the game either drew from the same inspiration or was inspired by.
Completed Control on ps4 the other day got my platinum trophy. Been wearing my awesome preorder t-shirtwith pride :) - Control is the best remedy game yet IMO. (and given the quality of the other titles that is saying alot!) Keep rocking team remedy from one VERY satisfied customer. Cannot wait to see where you go next with next generation of hardware...

Remedy is one of the last gaming holdouts that runs their own game engine, and a good game engine at that. Having played Control only recently it's really impressive technically. To think what they could do for modern consoles exclusively with Control 2 is going to be cool to see.
Same lake, the original face of max, and mcaffrey, the more iconic voice, i love this team, cant wait for what remedy has coming next

Quentin Tarantino usually has his set of actors he uses for his movies, and so does remedy for their games. As a fan it's a real treat to see some of the actors reprires or take on new roles.

They had said they were keeping a lot of the material under wraps. If you watch the Q and A, I'm the third guy in, in my case, it was more just getting to tell these guys how awesome they were.

This game had me scratching my head the whole time, and left quite an impression. I feel like this will be an underrated masterpiece. It was such a unique concept to me.
CONTROL is so underrated and is such a weird complex beautiful experience.
Love the ways that a Whale Hunter and a Spud combine to create a generation definer. Such a great game.
