    Beautiful office! Stayed in One Hudson Yards (the building next to the red brick house in the background while you were waiting for your Uber) for two weeks a few years ago. Was an amazing experience, right next to the High Line, and nyc‘s „city that never sleeps“ vibe is truly unique. Keep up the great videos :)

    Thanks for this Matt. You did 1.5 years of IB analyst at Solomon in consumer m&a I think
    And then pivoted to BCG without an MBA. Was the pivot easy or how did you go about that since there wasn’t some structured recruiting path I imagine for that? Sorry if you’ve answered this prior. Assuming I saw the right LinkedIn lol, undergrad at Georgetown. Most people making this post into associate level at MBB do it via MBA. Have you considered it or maybe later on?
    I’m pre MBA currently trying to pick between consulting or banking but leaning banking. Still not sure

    • @matthuang21
      @matthuang21  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for the question Bakul! Correct, I lateraled to BCG directly from Solomon. It wasn't an easy transition to make (it involved prepping during the little free time I had on weekends as an IB analyst) but I was also fortunate that at the time consulting firms were very actively hiring from not only on-campus backgrounds but also experienced lateral hires. I also networked with quite a few MBB consultants while I was still in IB, so I had referrals and specific knowledge on how to best navigate the interview process.
      If you are on the fence about consulting vs banking, one thing I will say is that I personally have seen more people switch from IB --> Consulting, but less the other way around. It's also worth noting that if high finance is your end goal, it makes more sense to go into IB - there are far more investment banks on Wall Street than Consulting firms where you can get into private equity (i.e., you basically have to be at MBB or a Tier 2 strategy firm like LEK to have a shot at PE). However, if you don't see yourself going into finance, I personally think Consulting is the best route because it tends to be a more sustainable career with wider exit options than banking. Ultimately, make the decision based on what feels right to you - hope this helps!

    Hello, I see a lot of these videos about MC and IB in the US, however it's rare for overseas countries for example being a MC or IB in Australia for example where i'm from. Do you have any insights of potential differences?

    • @matthuang21
      @matthuang21  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably varies by firm, but at BCG the US offices tend to get paid the most. Certain offices in Asia and Europe are also known to work pretty long hours consistently, and the track to promotion is slower outside the US (3 years as an associate before promotion to consultant vs just 2 years in the US)

    Hey Matt! I would love to ask what the work hours are like per week at BCG in Management Consulting. Thanks!

    • @matthuang21
      @matthuang21  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It typically ranges between 50-70 hours a week depending on the project

    Great video. Great production. The content is improving consistently.
    Few suggestions:
    1. You should narrate things that you want to say rather than just showing them written on the screen. In my opinion that would more impactful.
    2. Would have liked a look into post office life as well. (ofcourse if you want to share that). I mean you seem to be in pretty good shape so I assume you work out. Would have been good to know details regarding that. Do you work after office etc
    But overall a solid video. Your job and office is proper fancy schmancy.. May God bless you more.

      New York is really expensive but that’s the case regardless of what job you have. I actually manage to save a decent amount since I have roommates to split rent and most meals during the week are expensed to the company.

    What kdrama is that? It’s interesting that you show it at the same time you mention that you’re not yet where you want to be. Perhaps showing that your goal is to be the big boss like you’re showing by video while you say it?

    • @matthuang21
      @matthuang21  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The kdrama is called “Moving”. Very interesting observation! I didn’t realize that when I was making the video.

    Why do some TH-camrs I've seen rarely show or talk about their work as a consultant for a long duration? Most of what they show is food, drinks, and office interiors

    • @matthuang21
      @matthuang21  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it's easy to show your fancy office and perks. But harder to make a video talking about what you actually do since the work is not as glamorous.
