In some way intelligence does=respect though, does it not? I mean there's a massive difference between giving intelligent people respect and giving people with learning difficulties disrespect. Respecting intelligent people is practically the basis of human evolution. My cousin is 25 and has the "technial intelligence" of like a 12 year old. I'm hardly going to phone him up if I want a thousand word essay on the longevity of trans-generational trauma and the effects it has on children from generation to generation. I also don't call him a spastic either. That lad has forgotten more about Pokemon than most of us will ever even know, and I respect that haha. I think it's all relevant tbh. He can't spell 'because' properly, but he could talk you through every Pokemon game, step by step. A major thing people miss out when they try to gauge a persons intelligence is that their personal interest in the subject massively effects how knowledgable they are when speaking on the topic. Intelligence is basically just concentration + memory. And people tend to remember things they are more interested in. Also, don't get me wrong- I know there is outliers. Like people who can read a book and remember every single line, but they're the exception that proves the rule in my opinion. For every person I've met like that, I've probably met 10,000 people who are experts in their own field.
Don't you just LOVE when someone who isn't part of a specific community goes ahead and speaks for them? Like, are YOU smooth brained? No? Then don't presume to speak for them. I'm an old (50 years) punk and I'm pissed that people like that one have co opted our dyed hair! Bite me!!
Stop being depressed. 👌 You can’t fix depression by acting according to depression. Just like NoFap, the only way to fix the issue is to fill in the void of time with something good and worthwhile. Only then, will you pull yourself out of the hole you find yourself in. Good luck, friend.

ive spent 35 years struggling with undiagnosed (didnt even suspect) Autism. Having recently been diagnosed professionally, I have to say I couldnt really care what words people use. Theres been a load of insensitive comments through my diagnosis from everyone i know including myself as we learn what it means to be Autistic. I still use NT language and put NT demands on myself because that is what I am used to and that has offended some people of the communities I am involved in. If im given a list of demands of how to interact with a person and be deemed acceptable for their standards, I'm just not going to interact with them. I find conversations (note conversations) on why certain words/language is triggering fascinating and im learning loads about how many people respond to words, but i have to say, even being diagnosed with OCD for over 10years and having 200000 comments about "how we are all a little bit ocd" and having people self diagnose because they like stickers on their pantry jars the most ive got is upset if someone chooses to continue saying things DELIBERATELY to cause me upset. People say stupid things, ive got close people to me now asking if they can say things and i think that is sad, suppressing discussion isnt the way to educate people. id much rather someone say what they are thinking and allow me to evaluate what that means to me. this YOU CANT SAY THAT mentality is actually quite excluding to people who struggle with social cues which is why im confused why a lot of ND people seem to want to shut down communication instead of find out why people talk as they do.
That happens when young people grow up 24/7 on Twitter/Instagram. They get a smooth brain and should go outside to touch some grass. Otherwise they stay insane.

depends I guess. the older folk definitely have a way with words... I'd say know your audience, and don't put it on social media constantly.
I’m autistic and I often hesitate to tell people that because people like that Twitter sure exist and make us all seem like crazy people. I ain’t gonna waste my time going wah wah boo boo to my mommy because someone said the r word. Please don’t let people like them represent us, I promise most of us are more normal and lead normal lives 😭
I remember back when I was in middle school (2010). Their was this banner we were encouraged to sign representing our pledge to "spread the word to end the word" an effort to stop kids and people in general from using the word retard. Because it was " offensive " to people with mental disabilities. ( this was being pushed by the school faculty ). As if any of us students were insulting the special needs kids ( we weren't ). It was completely ridiculous I guess you could say the whole thing was retarded :P
I remember when a lot of people got offended that BTS used retard in a song. But in context, they meant it as the verb that means “to slow down.” It is like how “retardando” is used in music to say to slow down the tempo.....and maybe that is how BTS got the word.
Can confirm as a Korean, the r slur isn't like a loanword over here, so there's like a 0% chance *that's* what they meant. But I definitely see something like 'retardando' in piano music sheets [the jargon is all in Italian just like in the states]
Policing words must be exhausting, these people have too much time on their hands. Life is so much easier if you learn to ride the waves and vibe along, not everything needs to be a fight 😌
“Transmasc, he/they”- Wears makeup, doesn’t transition, wears feminine clothes... Do people realize not conforming to gender roles doesn’t automatically you trans?
I'm a trans guy I go by a male name I go by he/him And just the thought of being female can give me a panic attack Same with just looking at any part of my body or face But due to a traumatic event there are times where I need to wear feminine clothing for my mental sake I still identify as male its just due to the trauma But that's only like 5% of the time the rest of the time I look homeless and wouldn't have it any other way Can't wait to save up for surgery though 🙌😌
I have two illnesses that count as disabilities that you normally can't see but I suffer a lot from chronic pain and nerve pain. I'm the owner of a pass for severely disabled persons. I make jokes about it all the time, I say a lot of these words. I call myself more bodily damaged than a 90 year old grandma. Someone came up to me and said I'm not allowed to say it because that is not nice and hateful. I said "Yes, I love hating myself". They thought about it for a good minute.
I dont feel comfortable saying the word retarded, because it feels like you're calling someone disabled as an insult. Plus there's so many other curse words to use!
As someone who's disabled (i have a slight mental disability) i don't find the word offensive, when i use it it's another word for loser. But all jokes aside i agree to an extent.
As someone who is autistic, I’m not going to be overly offended if you use the R-word. But I’d still appreciate it if people refrained from using it around me (including towards objects). I’ve had a lot of people bully me as a kid by referring to me with that word. So, I’m just going to implore you to be considerate of who you’re around when using that kind of language. Pretty much everything else they talked about was pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
In the history of calling someone "retard" - 99.9999999 % of the time - its towards someone who have no learning disability, but just acts/is stupid. Mostly close friends and relatievs.

Bite me!!

people with disabilities: we don't care about ableism
twitter users: that's the thing, you do
ive spent 35 years struggling with undiagnosed (didnt even suspect) Autism.
