Piano In 21 Days-Hey Jacques had an Allegro, they have 88 keys. Switched to their Legato cuz it had a synth setting. It’s exactly the same piano as that Recital(same factory? Alesis bought the brand?) Wanted to get a Recital tho cuz it’s same brand as my QS6 and SR18 drum machine. Plus you need an adapter to get a 1/4” out to an amp. Does the Recital have a 1/4” out jack? Thanks!!🎶
I've been reading some comments in Amazon... In all this time, have you had problems with the volume? I want to buy it, but I'm not sure if is a good product (I like the sound, I'm talking about quality)... Do you recommend me this one or the Artesia PA 88w? Thanks for the video! It is very helpful kind regards Carlos.
Hi Carlos, I haven't noted any issues with volume. I do recommend this model and for the price I feel the quality is quite good. I can't really speak to the Artesia since I have no experience with it. Best of luck regardless of which you choose! -Jacques
Hi Jacques. Im thinking on buying this or maybe other electric piano (budget as cheaper as posible). I played some themes when I was a child, now Im 40. To learn fine, would I go for a 61 or a 88 keys? Other topic that I would like is to play sound as it was a guitar (only a few times), could I play that guitar sound thought MIDI with the PC? Thanks for your time and knowledge.
Thanks for the review. I took a few years of piano lessons as a kid and grew up with a piano in the home - will this still feel good enough for personal use for someone just looking to try and re-learn piano?
I have a nice digital piano in my home however we are going to start traveling more with our RV as my husband retired. I want to be able to practice while on the road to keep up my skills. Would the fact that the keys are semi weighted interfere with my continuing learning while at home the majority of our time.
Hi Angela, Semi-weighted keys are fine! You want to have some weighting in order to have a more authentic feel, so it's a good thing. :) Have fun on the road! -Jacques
Hi Martoon, I agree that the Pro does have a better feel due to full weighting! Not everyone can afford that model, but it's a nice choice for those who want to go several steps up from the regular Alesis Recital. :) -Jacques
Hey I started piano around October 2018 and I love it. Im about to get a piano and decided to get this one...but im worried about the sound... is there a head phone jack and how about the speakers are they good?.... an you tell me the bad side of it now since you had it for a few months now.
Hi Emmanuel, Thanks for commenting! There is a headphone jack for this model and the speakers are standard quality - nothing fancy, but they get the job done! No big complaints that I've found so far. Like I've mentioned in other comments/replies, there's a lot to like here but also realistically this is a good middle of the road model, not meant to be a concert instrument. ;) -Jacques
Hi, friend. Have you ever played on the Yamaha NP-32 Piaggero? If so, could you please compare in few words both ones, specially the piano sound quality and keys action? Thanks a lot. Best
Hi, just suscribed, I don't consider myself a beginner but got this one a year ago cuz I'm a uni student from Mexico and have a really low budget, I have some doubts about the key sensitivity, I can switch it from light to medium to hard, but since I've never touched a real piano and this is my first weighed keyboard I dont feel the difference (the light one sounds softer, but whats the difference between just turning the volume down?) which option should I use so it works as closely to a real piano? I just finished learning the Mazurka op 7 no.2 on medium and the dynamics werent much trouble, but I don't know if it would be better to set it on light or on hard. Have you played with those settings? Hope you can respond to my comment. In a couple of years I should finish school and the first thing I'm buying is at least the recital pro, or maybe a cheap upright. Have a nice day!
I think i will invest in a Digital piano. right now, i am using an antique $5,000 organ that i am hoping to sell. i use it for piano cause it’s has an option for it
Hi there, Sounds like a plan! And if you can sell your organ for even half that price you'll have more than enough to get set up with a top-quality new instrument. :) -Jacques
So I looked on Amazon and I heard a lot about how the Alesis keyboards lose their volume after awhile, so I'm wary of buying it. What would you say about this?
If you've ever played an acoustic piano, does this piano have almost the same feel as it, many keyboards I play have lighted keys so im worried it might feel like that thx
Hi there, This is a good compromise between budget and feel because the keys are semi-weighted. Fully-weighted keys would feel more authentic, hammer action would be the best in terms of replicating the acoustic experience. I don't recommend lighted keys because they become a visual crutch that can prevent progress. -Jacques
My only complaint is not mentioning other low cost options that sound 100x better. A better sound will help you practice more and longer. For $299 you can get the Yamaha NP-32 (has 76 vs 88 keys) or the Roland go keys 88. Both are semi weight to keep price down but sound much better than the Alesis. For under $500, Yamaha P-45, Casio CDP-S150 and Korg B2 all offer great build quality, good sound and weighted action. They can all also be sold used for $350-$400 if you decide you don’t want them anymore.
hey so i wouldnt consider myself a beginner but im not a pro either although i do know how to play songs like believer by imagine dragons and caroll of the bells would this piano still be genuine for an intermediate/mediocre player like me? please reple as soon as you can thanks!
Hi there, This works great for me and many people of varying skill levels! Having fully weighted keys would be even better (as in the Alesis Recital Pro) if that works for your budget, but this is a good compromise. :) -Jacques
I'm currently a high school senior, and I'm going to college next year. I've played piano for 12 years and am quite advanced. I'm looking to buy a keyboard that I could take to college with me, but don't want to spend too much money. Would this be a good option for me?
Hi Nathaniel, I think this could be a very good option for you! Not too expensive, not crazy heavy, but still full-size and semi-weighted keys. :) -Jacques
I've been looking for cheap yet good pianos so I can try and learn piano, and this is the best I can find so far. Do you need the accesories/kit stuff when your starting out? I got a 200$ budget
Im interested in buying this piano since im just starting, I have a question though.. does it sound good? Because when you played it in the video I felt like the sound was bad
Hi Zachary, Thanks for your question! Personally I'm happy with the model and the sound quality, but obviously there is going to be better sound from a higher-end/more expensive type of keyboard. So you have to weigh your options with price vs. quality in mind. ;) -Jacques
Alesis have released the Recital PRO version, which features Hammer Action keys as the main improvement (which makes it feel closer to an actual acoustic piano) I have my own Recital PRO and so far it's great with a few setups! Some pianists claims that it feels and sounds like a Yamaha. What do you think about this recent addition from Alesis?
Hi Frimelda, The Pro version is great! It is pricier because of the more authentic-feeling keys though, so that's why I still think the normal Recital might be a better choice for a lot of people. ;) -Jacques
Hi Vicente, That could work, as long as you get set up with software and a sustain pedal. Here's my video on how to choose the best instrument for your needs. :) -Jacques
what is a pretty good stand for this keyboard? i've been researching and haven't been able to find a solid stand that holds it securely. thanks in advance if you answer :)
Hi Jacques, thanks for doing all these videos, from France ! I'm 14 and I am an absolute beginner ^^ I really love piano and classic music, and I think I'm gonna buy this one. But am I gonna be disappointed by the difference between this piano and a big accoustic one ? Because I listen a lot of classic music like Beethoven ( my favorite is the Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement ) or Chopin ( 25 Etude ❤ ) and I don't know if it's really totally different or if the sounds are quite the same. Thank you if you have time to answer ! - Lenzo
Hi Lenzo, Thanks for your comment! This model has semi-weighted keys, which is a nice compromise that keeps the keyboard pretty lightweight/budget-friendly, plus still has a good feel and sound when you play it. That said, if you want to match the feeling of an acoustic piano, a fully-weighted keyboard could be good for you, such as this one: amzn.to/2r9hNsE. :) -Jacques
I want something that will play 80s songs which used synthesizer and other. What would be best one for me? I want to be able to hook to computer use programs. Also want to be able to play extra instruments so I can play byself just add instruments
Hi Rodger, I don't really use synths, so it's hard for me to advise specifically about that, but in general you are going to want a MIDI keyboard for your purposes. Check out my Piano Buying Guide video. ;) -Jacques
anyone heard of the alesis concert? is it better than this one? the price is pretty similar plus the concert has more voices. maybe someone heard of it need opinions wether to choose recital or the concert
I heard the top keys of this keyboard don't actually sound like a piano but just a flat sound of the hammers hitting, is it true? I'm doubting of buying this piano because of this; also, does it have semi-weighted or hammer action keys?
Hi Juan, This is semi-weighted, and I haven't noticed the audio issue you've mentioned. Any piano or keyboard will have a lighter sound to the extreme right side, but I enjoy this model and have no big complaints about it. That said, only buy something you feel comfortable with! :) -Jacques
hey piano in 21 days, i just purchased this keyboard based on your recommendation :) i noticed that it didn't come with a chord to connect to my laptop to record, i was wondering if you could let me know which chord i'd need to purchase. also, i noticed the keys are fairly hard to push down, will that be the case with most keyboards in this price range with semi-weighted keys? i'm liking it a lot so far though!
Hi there, This isn't a MIDI keyboard, but it does have a USB-MIDI output. Please check the user manual or the Alesis website for setup questions. :) As to the weighted feeling you're describing - that's what you want. That's what gives a more authentic feel and you will get used to quickly! Have fun. -Jacques
Hey I just came across your video while searching for keyboard. I used to play piano. I checked out another one video of yours, as you said you are not playing from piano sheets, the way you play is using midi file on computer software? Mind explaining this method to me?
Hi Wallace, Thanks for commenting! I don't play from MIDI files, but I do use a MIDI at times when I'm recording directly to my computer. I actually use a chord-based approach to playing, so there isn't any sheet music involved. That makes things a lot simpler and fun! Please check out my channel for my other videos on this topic. :) -Jacques
Love this, I'm going to be teaching my little brother piano and the keyboard we have is an old plastic Yamaha from the early 00s. Gonna be replacing it with this!
the keys have resistance ? they feel a little more difficult to press than a regular cheap keyboard? i know it's a semiweighed keyboard but i have 0 experience with semi only know regular keyboards with 0 resistance and accoustic piano with heavy keys, how does it really feels to press a key of this keyboard? thanks
Hi Carlos, They have a bit of resistance and weight to them that is closer to the acoustic feel than non-weighted keys. But if feel is very important to you, I recommend you go to a music store in your area to try some differentn models and get a better understanding of what the differences feel like. :) -Jacques
I learned the basics of playing piano over 15 years ago and recently decided to get back into it. Based on this video and others, I bought the Alesis Recital. I love it! It's perfect to get started with and a reasonable price.
I've been playing the piano for some years now. I already have 1 plus 2 other k-boards. Came here to check the sound of a possible 2 piano.... sorry, I don't like the sound. Every think else seems great. Thanks for the vid.
Hi there, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! This works for me as a good middle-ground compromise between quality and price, but there's always going some greener grass no matter where you look. Good luck on your search! :) Jacques
I’m thinking of getting the Alesis Recital Pro as a secondary piano. I already have a upright that’s in the living room, but I would like a decent keyboard to play when I hide away in my bedroom. Would you recommend the Pro for someone who doesn’t need something fancy but wants the benefits of 88-keys and hammer action keys?
Hi Mikaela, This does have a headphones jack, yes. As to whether brand matters, I think it does. That said, there are a lot of decent brands out there, so I'm never going to say that Alesis is the only brand you should consider. Anything with 49+ keys is a good start, and getting started is the most important thing. But I am happy with this model, so I'm also happy to recommend it as a good option. :) -Jacques
I got the 'same' piano and since i just got it i haven't played or opened up the box yet also I got this because i saw one of 21 days video suggesting it
Jacques I am from India and I just wanted to know that can a 61 key keyboard be enough for beginners? Because my parents won't buy me a one with 88 keys?
Thanks for the video man, I would really love this keyboard, but here in South Africa it costs about 7 grand, way out of my price range. I will have to keep looking, but thanks for all the cool videos
Hi Virgil, Thanks for your kind comment! No need to worry if you can't get this specific model - while I enjoy it, anything with 49+ keys and a sustain pedal is a good start. :) -Jacques
I love this keyboard i originally had a 61 key Yamaha with the spring keys but the 61 key started being a problem when I went to my lesson using a full 88 acoustic piano with Weighted keys. The semi weighted is so nice if your like me a one hand is weaker and half the time can't get a clear note to sound. My favorite feature of this piano has to be the transpose function its kinda hidden as it doesn't use a actual transpose button. Even my music teacher was impressed of it and the price point for a digital piano that has so much going for it
@@PianoIn21Days would there be a affordable speaker system you would recommend that i can look into getting in the future thats the one thing about this piano is the built in speakers aren't the greatest but im not complaining as alesis already has this at a decent price
How well does this keyboard translate to a real acoustic piano? Because there is a real piano on my school I want to play on, but I don't want to suck.
Hi Sebastian, This is not going to give you the same feel, but in my opinion it's a decent compromise. You can definitely practice successfully on this and then transfer that knowledge over to an acoustic piano. Check out my "Piano Buying Guide" video for more tips on what to choose. ;) -Jacques
Hi Aya, I prefer the Alesis, but it really depends on your budget and preferences. :) The important thing is just to make sure you get a package with a sustain pedal included. -Jacques
I will of course defer to Jacques but please see my recent comment about the Yamaha PSREW300 if you're considering the Recital Pro. The Yamaha is worth looking at.
Hi there, That's going to be pretty subjective, so I can't really answer except to say that I am happy with the sound this model provides and I can't speak to Yamaha model you mentioned. -Jacques

Yes, it is. If you don’t like the sensitivity, you can configure it, there are some instructions to do so in the manual
is there an "electronic pedal" with it. I would like to stretch my tones if you know what I mean like you can do on a normal piano with a pedal.

It is very helpful
kind regards
Carlos.
Hi Carlos,
I haven't noted any issues with volume.
Hi Miwelmad,
88 keys is always better but 61 is fine for most people! ;) This model doesn't have a guitar voice option.
-Jacques
Thanks for the review. I took a few years of piano lessons as a kid and grew up with a piano in the home - will this still feel good enough for personal use for someone just looking to try and re-learn piano?
I have a nice digital piano in my home however we are going to start traveling more with our RV as my husband retired. I want to be able to practice while on the road to keep up my skills. Would the fact that the keys are semi weighted interfere with my continuing learning while at home the majority of our time.
Hi Angela,
Semi-weighted keys are fine! You want to have some weighting in order to have a more authentic feel, so it's a good thing. :) Have fun on the road!
-Jacques
Alesis Recital piano was my first piano I bought since I'm a beginner and until I get better I really want a full weighted piano in the future.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for commenting! It's always nice to have something to look forward to as a reward for your progress. :)
-Jacques
Hey tony. How is the piano holding up. How is the experience is it good?
Go for the Alesis Recital PRO surely. A few bucks more but has to have a better feel being fully weighted. Just sayin'....
Hi Martoon,
I agree that the Pro does have a better feel due to full weighting! Not everyone can afford that model, but it's a nice choice for those who want to go several steps up from the regular Alesis Recital. :)
-Jacques
what kind of bolt does that piano need?please answer me...

Please check the link in the description to see all the product specifications. :)

@@PianoIn21Days thanks :)
Hey, is this all good to amplify? Thanks.
Hey I started piano around October 2018 and I love it. Im about to get a piano and decided to get this one...but im worried about the sound... is there a head phone jack and how about the speakers are they good?.... an you tell me the bad side of it now since you had it for a few months now.
Hi Emmanuel,
Thanks for commenting! There is a headphone jack for this model and the speakers are standard quality - nothing fancy, but they get the job done! No big complaints that I've found so far. Like I've mentioned in other comments/replies, there's a lot to like here but also realistically this is a good middle of the road model, not meant to be a concert instrument. ;)
-Jacques
Hi, friend. Have you ever played on the Yamaha NP-32 Piaggero? If so, could you please compare in few words both ones, specially the piano sound quality and keys action? Thanks a lot. Best
Hi Antonio,
Sorry, I don't recall ever playing that specific model. I recommend you Google around a bit for reviews to compare with.
-Jacques
Would you prefer this piano or the Yamaha p71
I think i will invest in a Digital piano. right now, i am using an antique $5,000 organ that i am hoping to sell. i use it for piano cause it’s has an option for it
Hi there,
Sounds like a plan! And if you can sell your organ for even half that price you'll have more than enough to get set up with a top-quality new instrument. :)
-Jacques
Wanna sell it to me? Lol
Is it like a pump organ or digital organ, how many manuals and keys?
So I looked on Amazon and I heard a lot about how the Alesis keyboards lose their volume after awhile, so I'm wary of buying it. What would you say about this?
Hi Skye,
I have not experienced that with this model or the other Alesis models I've had in the past.
-Jacques
Skye R I heard the same thing and I don’t know whether or not to buy it
If you've ever played an acoustic piano, does this piano have almost the same feel as it, many keyboards I play have lighted keys so im worried it might feel like that thx
Hi there,
This is a good compromise between budget and feel because the keys are semi-weighted. Fully-weighted keys would feel more authentic, hammer action would be the best in terms of replicating the acoustic experience. I don't recommend lighted keys because they become a visual crutch that can prevent progress.
-Jacques
@@PianoIn21Days
I have the Recital Pro and for a beginner it is good. I would recommend it for the price.
They can all also be sold used for $350-$400 if you decide you don’t want them anymore.
hey so i wouldnt consider myself a beginner but im not a pro either
although i do know how to play songs like believer by imagine dragons and caroll of the bells
would this piano still be genuine for an intermediate/mediocre player like me?
please reple as soon as you can thanks!
Hi there,
This works great for me and many people of varying skill levels! Having fully weighted keys would be even better (as in the Alesis Recital Pro) if that works for your budget, but this is a good compromise. :)
-Jacques
@@PianoIn21Days thnx for the reply! im gonna buy this piano for sure now!

Hey how is the build quality and sound please? Im thinking of buying it too
I'm currently a high school senior, and I'm going to college next year. I've played piano for 12 years and am quite advanced. I'm looking to buy a keyboard that I could take to college with me, but don't want to spend too much money. Would this be a good option for me?
Hi Nathaniel,
I think this could be a very good option for you! Not too expensive, not crazy heavy, but still full-size and semi-weighted keys. :)
-Jacques
I've been looking for cheap yet good pianos so I can try and learn piano, and this is the best I can find so far. Do you need the accesories/kit stuff when your starting out? I got a 200$ budget
Im interested in buying this piano since im just starting, I have a question though.. does it sound good? Because when you played it in the video I felt like the sound was bad
Hi Zachary,
Thanks for your question! Personally I'm happy with the model and the sound quality, but obviously there is going to be better sound from a higher-end/more expensive type of keyboard. So you have to weigh your options with price vs. quality in mind. ;)
-Jacques
@@PianoIn21Days Thank you for answering
Alesis have released the Recital PRO version, which features Hammer Action keys as the main improvement (which makes it feel closer to an actual acoustic piano)
I have my own Recital PRO and so far it's great with a few setups! Some pianists claims that it feels and sounds like a Yamaha.
What do you think about this recent addition from Alesis?
Hi Frimelda,
The Pro version is great! It is pricier because of the more authentic-feeling keys though, so that's why I still think the normal Recital might be a better choice for a lot of people. ;)
-Jacques
Hi Jacques, I was thinking to buy a Midi keyboard (Alesis 49) to start learn how to play. Is it enough to learn? Thanks mate
Hi Vicente,
That could work, as long as you get set up with software and a sustain pedal. Here's my video on how to choose the best instrument for your needs. :)
-Jacques
what is a pretty good stand for this keyboard? i've been researching and haven't been able to find a solid stand that holds it securely. thanks in advance if you answer :)
Hi Koimasuu,
Please check out the link in the description, there's a keyboard+accessories option which includes the stand. :)
-Jacques
Hi Jacques, thanks for doing all these videos, from France ! I'm 14 and I am an absolute beginner ^^ I really love piano and classic music, and I think I'm gonna buy this one.
But am I gonna be disappointed by the difference between this piano and a big accoustic one ? Because I listen a lot of classic music like Beethoven ( my favorite is the Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement ) or Chopin ( 25 Etude ❤ ) and I don't know if it's really totally different or if the sounds are quite the same.
Thank you if you have time to answer !
- Lenzo
Hi Lenzo,
Thanks for your comment!
-Jacques
Do it. It will be crazy at 30 or 40 years old with your new acoustic piano. The one that you dream of.
Thank You for your help, Jacques and Jean Philippe ! I buy the Alesis recital.
Have nice days,
Lenzo.
I'm getting a Yamaha p125 and just checking out pianos I might buy in the future and this one is gonna be on my list
Nice! Thanks for commenting. :)

If you have a Yamaha p125 then your downgrading if your gonna get the Alexis recital
I hate you already started to sing your song and just left it there XD. Thanks for the review !!
hey is the keyboard touch sensitive? i want to buy a full keyboard that is touch sensitive, my budget is around $200
I want something that will play 80s songs which used synthesizer and other. What would be best one for me? I want to be able to hook to computer use programs. Also want to be able to play extra instruments so I can play byself just add instruments
Hi Rodger,
I don't really use synths, so it's hard for me to advise specifically about that, but in general you are going to want a MIDI keyboard for your purposes. Check out my Piano Buying Guide video. ;)
-Jacques
What's the difference between this one and the Pro version?
Hi Elizabeth,
This has semi-weighted keys (decent but not as authentic feeling), the Pro has fully-weighted keys. :)
-Jacques
anyone heard of the alesis concert? is it better than this one? the price is pretty similar plus the concert has more voices. maybe someone heard of it need opinions wether to choose recital or the concert
What do you think about Donner???
Do you think I should get the whole set
If you reply thank you
Hi Shinji,
The set is great because it includes a stand and a sustain pedal - very important. ;)
-Jacques
I heard the top keys of this keyboard don't actually sound like a piano but just a flat sound of the hammers hitting, is it true? I'm doubting of buying this piano because of this; also, does it have semi-weighted or hammer action keys?
Hi Juan,
This is semi-weighted, and I haven't noticed the audio issue you've mentioned. Any piano or keyboard will have a lighter sound to the extreme right side, but I enjoy this model and have no big complaints about it. That said, only buy something you feel comfortable with! :)
-Jacques
Thank you so much for this video. I am definitely getting this piano as I am just a beginner and not sure if I want to stick with it.
PIANO IS THE BEST NO ONE HATES PIANO
hey piano in 21 days, i just purchased this keyboard based on your recommendation :) i noticed that it didn't come with a chord to connect to my laptop to record, i was wondering if you could let me know which chord i'd need to purchase. also, i noticed the keys are fairly hard to push down, will that be the case with most keyboards in this price range with semi-weighted keys? i'm liking it a lot so far though!
Hi there,
This isn't a MIDI keyboard, but it does have a USB-MIDI output. Please check the user manual or the Alesis website for setup questions. :)
As to the weighted feeling you're describing - that's what you want. That's what gives a more authentic feel and you will get used to quickly! Have fun.
-Jacques
So a year later, how has it held up? Do you still recommend it?
Hi Kristin,
I still do! Working fine and it's held up well. :)
-Jacques
Hey I just came across your video while searching for keyboard. I used to play piano. I checked out another one video of yours, as you said you are not playing from piano sheets, the way you play is using midi file on computer software? Mind explaining this method to me?
Hi Wallace,
Thanks for commenting! I don't play from MIDI files, but I do use a MIDI at times when I'm recording directly to my computer. I actually use a chord-based approach to playing, so there isn't any sheet music involved. That makes things a lot simpler and fun! Please check out my channel for my other videos on this topic. :)
-Jacques
Damn I want it
Is it touch sensitive?
1:36 music plz?
Lol nice one laughed so hard
Love this, I'm going to be teaching my little brother piano and the keyboard we have is an old plastic Yamaha from the early 00s. Gonna be replacing it with this!
the keys have resistance ? they feel a little more difficult to press than a regular cheap keyboard? i know it's a semiweighed keyboard but i have 0 experience with semi only know regular keyboards with 0 resistance and accoustic piano with heavy keys, how does it really feels to press a key of this keyboard? thanks
Hi Carlos,
They have a bit of resistance and weight to them that is closer to the acoustic feel than non-weighted keys. But if feel is very important to you, I recommend you go to a music store in your area to try some differentn models and get a better understanding of what the differences feel like. :)
-Jacques

Hi there,
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! This works for me as a good middle-ground compromise between quality and price, but there's always going some greener grass no matter where you look. Good luck on your search! :)

Would you recommend the Pro for someone who doesn’t need something fancy but wants the benefits of 88-keys and hammer action keys?
Are you able to use headphones and does the brand matter?
Hi Mikaela,
This does have a headphones jack, yes. :)

How well does this keyboard translate to a real acoustic piano? Because there is a real piano on my school I want to play on, but I don't want to suck.
Hi Sebastian,
This is not going to give you the same feel, but in my opinion it's a decent compromise. You can definitely practice successfully on this and then transfer that knowledge over to an acoustic piano. Check out my "Piano Buying Guide" video for more tips on what to choose. ;)
