    That actually sounds way meaner than I was expecting. I've only ever had 4.3L s10s before so didnt know what to expect

      Lol yeah man these 2.8s are something else especially the carbureted version they have more of a lower idle an rubble to them when cold an if you added flowmaster to them like I did it chnages everything an has the deep tone like a v8 when you drive it .

      Yeah an next it possibly will be getting a 4.3 dropped in it . That's the plans anyways cause 2.8 that's in it is shot . Plus now my trany is acting up on me
      So if it doesn't get 4.3 in it then I'll sell it cause no way I'm dropping a v8 in it money is rigtight right now plus that's alot work . Will see tho

      @@canadaeast8358 yeah definitely would wake the truck up . But it's off a S10 with 150k on it that sat for 20 years I'm actually driven the truck that it's in but the inside is wore out an faded an dash is cracked but now my 85 model is perfect on inside an no rust . Then later on when the 4.3 ever goes then I would swap to a v8 an something like a 283 old school I love those engines they didn't make that much hp but it's either that or a 350 but definitely no LS swap that's way entirely overrated everybody does it that's all I ever see now

    I had a 1993 S-10 with a 2.8. Flowmaster muffler and a single pipe. Sounded just like this one. Drove the damn wheels off that truck. Racked up a total of 535,000 miles on the engine. Never touched the engine excepts for minor repairs like a water pump. She was destroyed in an accident. Could still go 5,000 miles without adding any oil. That engine was bullet proof.

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn that's crazy that's alot miles lol I have a 92 engine from a s10 I had with 337,000 miles on it . I'm actually in middle of about to be swapping my S10 engine cause this one finally gave up
      An Yeah that exhaust is something else , many thinking it had something else under hood lol . I will say the later model TBI 2.8s was a way better design alot of the issues was fixed that the older ones had

    • @BigSlick40
      @BigSlick40 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 I purchased the truck new and it had 25 miles on it when I test drove it. From about 50k miles I ran synthetic oil only. Oil change interval was around 7500 miles and sometimes longer but she was serviced on a regular basis. At around 380,000 I had the rear main oil seal replaced and threw in another clutch because the transmission had to be removed. Water pump made it to 320,000 and a new alternator around 350,000.
      It was the little engine that could. Your right, GM did have problems with the early 2.8's but someone there got their head out of their ass and fixed all the problems making it a highly reliable engine. Granted, it wasn't a power maker but it was a smooth and dependable.

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BigSlick40 crazy even synthetic blend how was your oil pressure the entire time of owning it cold and hot just curious. But yeah I'd love to get my hands on a low mileage S10 with 2.8 or 4.3 and service it and keep it and see just how far I can make it go lol .
      Like I say The carbureted 2.8 in my truck now is junk it's so worn out , bad compression , alot blow by and that fills up filter in the air cleaner with this nasty yellow junk . Bottom is sounds horrible now and when it hot starts it has a slight knock every now and then ha it's crazy
      I'm either swapping this other carbureted 2.8 from a 82 S10 a buddy gave me that's on the channal I just uploaded . Or I find a 3.4 from a Camaro that's way better and the issues are fixed and I'd like to run the SFI fuel injection that comes with those on the S10 cause it different but it's hard to find those engines around here or that's not blown up or something I know that did run before it was parked at least because if it's at a junkyard and it's not right you don't know the history lol

      I got the same truck, 93 S-10 with a 2.8 V6 and the 5 speed manual, chopped the entire stock exhaust system off from the headers and redid it with mufflers from a whole bunch of different cars that were laying around the shop 😂 sounds totally different than this, but I cant decide if this is better or if mine is, but mine has a lot more of that trumpety type of noise you get from a V6.
