Here's the blotter update...
What a shape-shifter this one turned out to be! After the seemingly innocent opening of apple and rose, things became progressively darker and heavier, until all that was left was the part-metallic, part-bitter earthy-woodiness of Akigalawood and patchouli. Quite a transformation. A definite example of a scent that must be tried on skin. And note: its drydown lasts for ages.

Thanks so much for bringing Etat Libre D'Orange back into focus for me Persolaise. I bought the big sample set years ago and it gave me endless fun and fascination. From that I discovered one of my favourite fragrances, the wonderful Eloge du Traitre, and many more. Now I'm really looking forward to delving back in!

I absolutely love this! It’s funny you say aromatics elixir because I do get that and an Aramis 900 vibe but more modern and elegant. This is amazing in my opinion!

I find it interesting that you said, at 11:15, that 'Les Fleurs du Déchet - I Am Trash' (which I have not tried yet) smells like those cringey commercial scents. To me, this is exactly what I get from 'La Fin du Monde'. I don't know if the seller spoiled my sample, but it really reminds me of 'Lady Million', 'Olympéa Intense' by Paco Rabanne, and the like. It starts promising with a carrot whiff, but immediately verges on the cheap path of overtly sweet and boring stuff. From this point of view, the name, as in the first case, makes sense perfectly: it is 'The End of the World'. 😂
Roxana Soare 😂Maybe it is another ELDO joke! Although I have to say that I do quite like the scent. Perhaps we should both revisit it.

Thanks for your thoughts on the new ELdO; wonder how it compares to Rossy de Palma? I've wanted to like this brand more than I do. I got samples of Archives 69 (interesting fruity-floral, maybe a guy can give it a nice twist), Sex Pistols (clean-aldehydic and forgettable), Je Suis Un Homme (conventional citrus-leather, missing a spark or two). Still waiting to try The Afternoon of the Faun and a few others. The only two I have are Rossy de Palma and Rien.

This is much darker and woodier than Eau De Protection, which I really love, by the way. The latter always creeps up on you, surrounding you with its floral shield before you realise what's happening. Experimentum Crucis is far more bitter towards the end of its development. They're quite different beasts.
The idea of I’m trash is that all the notes used in this scent are extracted from the raw material for the second time if that make sense? So initially the ingredient company got their extracts from these raw material, these raw material became trash. But they re-used these wastes to make a second extraction and got the whatever are left over from those materials (like a second brew of tea). ELDO did this as a concept for environmental saving or something alike. Yeah the scent is just ok but the wit in its name and the idea behind are pretty cool. I found the new one has some similarity to I’m trash actually
Yes, you're right, and I remember reading about that when the scent came out. I suspect that the cheekiness of the brand also enjoyed the idea of turning trash into a 'trashy' fragrance.
