I love Etienne’s playful and mischievous side, and also find his poetic nature to be truly inspiring. What an intriguing character. Thank you, Persolaise, for a delightfully entertaining interview.
What a wonderful interview! I really enjoyed the humour and poetry of this conversation as well as being transported to all the charmingly quirky nooks and crannies in the mind of Mr. de Swardt. I recently smelled my first scent by the brand: You or someone like you and was immediately enamored. So curious to smell my way through the others now.
I was looking for a video on Fin du monde by you, cuz I am looking for something with a similarly intens carotseed/Iris combination minus the cedar that gives me headaches. BUT: I am 8 minutes in and allready winde the video back to make sure I get the massive wisdome that is sprinkled so casualy in between these words. A little proofe that with in insanity lies wisdome and with in chaos lies beauty. I love Herman, its not dark to me. Its like a gray, rainy landscape that only seems depressing, but when you look closely you see the light of the uncountable waterdroplets sparkle and dance with the shadowes! Mesmerizing beauty in the debth! Now I want my Herman sample back that I gave my Mum to try out. Sorry for my bad spelling a d thank you for your work! It does have a profound impact on my life even if its "just" parfums❤❤❤ Edit: a typo I spoted a d I want to come back and say: Beauty is the armor against the dispair. This touched me deeply
thank you for this interview! i love etienne, to me he is the lars von trier of perfumery. they're both medicine to my soul. if they were ever really to collaborate, what poetry that fact alone would be. but either way, i'm very much looking forward to how the creations of this house will develop and am very happy that it exists. take care everyone!
Hilarious & delightful. Delicious Closet Queen! The best complex insult yet. Watching your reactions, Persolaise, to the fascinating funny comments of this truly original chap. The titles of these perfumes intrigue me... Fat Electrician... The burdens of the beautiful. Hope I can get some testers soon. This has cheered me on a grey Nov day. Thanks.
Sad I missed this, ELDO is one of my favorite fragrance houses, well I'll just make myself a cup of Turkish coffee sit back and watch the recording and if I was live my question would be "is there a chance for us to see an actor inspired collection in the near future" and these would be my suggestions: Toshirô Mifune (Inspired By) Kristin Scott Thomas (collaboration) James Mason (Inspired By) Tatsuya Nakadai (Inspired By) Embeth Davidtz (collaboration) Cary Grant (Inspired By) Mads Mikkelsen (collaboration) Ingrid Bergman (Inspired By) Peter Sellers (Inspired By) Evan Rachel Wood (collaboration) George C. Scott (Inspired By) Grace Kelly (Inspired By) Paul Newman (Inspired By) Saoirse Ronan (collaboration)
I was so disappointed by the silly sophomoric attempts to prod Etienne into going political when he clearly was reluctant. A bit embarrassing to watch. What a missed opportunity with such a fascinating guest.
They have totally sold out basically both creatively and morally. Animal testing and hobbled creativity due to these Chinese investors. Such a shame but the brand is now dead.
Persolaise Perfumes Unfortunately yes. Currently, the Chinese government requires tests on animals for all imported cosmetics and any special use cosmetics, regardless of where they were manufactured. ETAT opened stores in China with full knowledge of this and so are ultimately accountable. It looks like this law may change by the end of 2020 with non animal tests coming into play. It’s a shame as I saw ETAT as a creative and ethical brand but not now. They have put profit before morality and creativity.

Thank YOU for watching, Daniel. And yes, he's a true original.
I like this dude. Great interview as usual.
Gotta revisit my almost complete sample set and find a sample for The Afternoon of the Faun.
Thank you - really glad you enjoyed it.
This interview is a gem. Mr. Etienne has a lot of wonderful turn of phrase: "in confinement you have to stay Gothic!"
You’re absolutely right.
Thank you for watching.
I could listen to this man all day long!! 👍🏼❤️
Absolutely -- me too.

Your 'which perfume for such-and-such a celebrity / politician' is fun ! I'm game for that at some point. Wonderful interview. Very optimistic!
Be careful what you wish for!
Thanks for watching this one 😊

Thanks for taking the time to write. I presume you’re basing your animal testing comment on some reliable evidence.
