I know you're focusing on I-LAND for now, but there are some genuinely outstanding performances in LOUD if you ever wanted to watch that for your own enjoyment. Though I'll warn you, Yedam's fate in the show is pretty infuriating. The structure of the show was such that Psy and JYP were making their groups, with some audience voting. Psy's group The New Six was formed from it, and it got to the (if I recall) 7th round. The finalists for Psy were the current New Six members, one participant who decided not to pursue idol life, Yedam, and... a twelve year old from Japan (and if you think Gyurae/Kaedan/Hyeontae are obviously kids, nothing will prepare you for the look of this fetus). Psy had to pick one to send home, and he chose to keep the 12-year-old over Yedam. All the remaining members got to stay in the group during the final due to how the voting/producer pick shook out. Fairly shortly after the final episode, P Nation confirmed that they weren't going to debut the child. So, if he had picked Yedam over the child in the semifinal, Yedam would currently be in the New Six. Yedam was my one-pick on the show so you can imagine I've had some time to stew on it, lol. I still recommend the show because the performances are phenomenal, Yedam and Boys Love sweetheart Haruto included. But if you don't want to commit to that, here are some recommendations for our short king Yedam: --His audition. It's purely a dance number, and I think shows waaaaaay more of his real skill and personality than any Boys Planet bit did. --His solo performance of 책임져, oh my GOD does this really show him off. In BP he mostly did cool/hard, but in this show he was actually known for super funky, inventive, quirky original choreographies. --Team P Nation's performance of 'Brother' (a cover of Jessi's NunuNana). If you watch ONE performance, let it be this. It's insane that this was still several rounds away from the finals. It's a performance that belongs at the MAMAs, it's literally insane. Plus Yedam leads the dance break :) --Team P Nation's unit performance of 10 Minutes, a groovy cover that is right where Yedam's dance strengths live --Team P Nation's performance of Run Devil Run by Girls Generation for some Gothic realness --Team P Nation's performance of No More Dream for a genuinely good BTS cover from a survival show for once --HARUTO BONUS: Dear god, if you somehow haven't seen it, watch the unit performance of "Fever." They literally put Haruto and the two other classically trained girlies in a trio and said "do a musical theater jazz number." It's truly iconic. Honestly, going back through performances to make these picks, I'm impressed with the quality of LOUD all over again. It's suuuuper different from most other survival shows. There were 8 rounds, and I would say by the 3rd, the tagline for the show would be Truly Frightening Competence. The level of performance (and the scale of the production itself) is honesly incredible.

So, if he had picked Yedam over the child in the semifinal, Yedam would currently be in the New Six. Yedam was my one-pick on the show so you can imagine I've had some time to stew on it, lol.
I still recommend the show because the performances are phenomenal, Yedam and Boys Love sweetheart Haruto included. But if you don't want to commit to that, here are some recommendations for our short king Yedam:
--His audition. It's purely a dance number, and I think shows waaaaaay more of his real skill and personality than any Boys Planet bit did.
--His solo performance of 책임져, oh my GOD does this really show him off. In BP he mostly did cool/hard, but in this show he was actually known for super funky, inventive, quirky original choreographies.
--Team P Nation's performance of 'Brother' (a cover of Jessi's NunuNana). If you watch ONE performance, let it be this. It's insane that this was still several rounds away from the finals. It's a performance that belongs at the MAMAs, it's literally insane. Plus Yedam leads the dance break :)
--Team P Nation's unit performance of 10 Minutes, a groovy cover that is right where Yedam's dance strengths live
--Team P Nation's performance of Run Devil Run by Girls Generation for some Gothic realness
--Team P Nation's performance of No More Dream for a genuinely good BTS cover from a survival show for once
--HARUTO BONUS: Dear god, if you somehow haven't seen it, watch the unit performance of "Fever." They literally put Haruto and the two other classically trained girlies in a trio and said "do a musical theater jazz number." It's truly iconic.
Honestly, going back through performances to make these picks, I'm impressed with the quality of LOUD all over again. It's suuuuper different from most other survival shows. There were 8 rounds, and I would say by the 3rd, the tagline for the show would be Truly Frightening Competence. The level of performance (and the scale of the production itself) is honesly incredible.
