  • The United States Marine Corps West Coast Composite Band performing at the 129th Annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on Monday, January 1, 2018. This composite group brings three Marine Bands together from around Southern California; Marine Band San Diego, the 1st Marine Division Band and the 3D Marine Aircraft Wing Band. The band members are fully combat-trained and prove that they are as proficient with their musical instruments as they are with their weaponry. Many of these these fine service members have completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

    This is the sight of
    The Few.
    The Proud.
    The Marines.
Thank you all have passed through boot camp and earned the Best title of ALL who serve our country. Had it not been for the description of what this event is and how every member of The Marine Corps band contains some who have been deployed into war zones, I would have ever known. It just goes to show how much each Marine is trained for, and being an all around person they are.

I live "Downunder" in Australia, and I love it hear, but after watching this video and seeing the crowd stand up for the passing Marine Band, I have to say that there is no country on earth where the people are as patriotic to their country, as the people of the USofA.

I love watching the marching band perform. What hit me in the heart the first time I saw this was seeing the crowds in the bleachers stand. A few at first, then all of them when the 2nd round of the hymn was played.

Wow, it is a US Marine Corps band. The marching row is terribly cool.
"Kyoto Tachibana SHS marching band" may be cute, but the performance of this band is masculine, its uniforms are also dignified.
The march they are playing also has power and I love it.
I think that Americans love heartily. I think Japanese people love it too.

      To Kristy Skirt
      Sincerest apologies.
I am fully aware of the amazing performance of the "Kyoto Tachibana SHS Marching Band" called "Orange Devil".
In "Rose Parade" I also know that this band team marched while dancing and playing a long distance.
If my words are missing and I let you misunderstand, I apologize.
From "Orange Devil" fan living in Tokyo

@@kristyskirt9015 you stated my point, they're a high school band but they can compete with these 'masculine' marine figures who had a thousand more practice than them. Is impressive.

I am thankful that you diligently post the Rose Parade each year. The location where you recorded the bands this year was ideal. I appreciate that the sound of the bands were clearer than ever before with the close proximity to the parade route. Of course, the U.S. Marine combined band is my favorite each year. Thank you.

The white trousers are a new look for the West Coast Composite Band. Various units, including The United States Marine Band "The President's Own," wears white trousers during the 8th & I Marine Barracks Evening Parades. They are standard dress for the Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps. The Silent Drill Team always wears white. When white trousers are worn, the red "blood stripe" is not included on officer and NCO uniforms.

The white trousers are worn by Marines at 8th and I and other Marine musicians during the summer months, usually around April-October. During the winter months, they wear blue, with exception as seen here. It's also an optional summer option for all staff NCO's and commissioned officers during the summer months.
