You make some good points about social media. For me, I watch a lot of TH-cam as I don't enjoy cable TV. I have never given a thumbs down on any video despite having seen a few bad videos as who am I to judge someone's content. I don't believe there should be a Thumbs down button. As a TH-cam content creator, you take the time to produce a video to share content, that takes time and effort. If I disagree with the content, I will express my critique in the comments section but not in an insulting or derogatory way. I think there are far too many "keyboard-commandos" on social media and the anonymity allows this behavior. Keep up the great content and I know 2025 will be a very good year. Thank you.
Totally agree with you on the thumb diwn button. I just hope I did not inadvertently pressed on any thumbs down after I fell asleep from fatigue of watching one video after another 😅
Ah, your final one. I think I know. The estimable Jody from Just One More Watch, I think, initiated this as a bit of fun. The Pointless Point! Pointing at nothing in particular while wearing a watch. Just a bit of silliness all round. A lot have since emulated this - including myself at times 😁. I may of course be completely wrong. Why break the habit of a lifetime? 😁. Great channel, by the way.
All of my social media posts are done with burner accounts. No way am I going to have some clown refuse to hire me due to a post I made 10 years ago that is now deemed "unacceptable."
Yep, I never use my real name on YT. Shut down my FB, IG and linked in ten years ago. Never posted any pics of myself or my family when I did have them. Most people don’t care about privacy I guess. I can still google my name and nothing comes up. If I did have FB I’d be one of those guys that posted as an anonymous member. lol
That If you know you know thing is bizarre. I'm guilty of posting wrist shots, but I edit everything out apart from the watch and a small part of wrist, no one wants to see my hand and everything behind is out of focus anyway. Happy Christmas 😁
Hands down the two most annoying posts on social media that you've missed are the wrist shot with a steering wheel in the background displaying the the car brand near the dial. That is the biggest cringe. No one cares if you drive a Porsche or a Tesla. The other one that I wish I would never see again is guys posting wrist shots after they've bought a watch and asking "Is this too big on me". The time for that is **before** you buy a watch. I've never seen a pointing wrist shot, but then I deleted Facebook 5 years ago. I get all my watch needs met by Reddit. Much better than Facebook. Edit: I forgot one of the worst, the "I got the call" posts.
Ahh yes the steering wheel humble brag. That's one for part 2! Reddit seems like a popular place for watch dudes. I signed up for Instagram but honestly don't have enough time in my head for more than one platform. Between Facebook and making the occasional video, I'm in a happy place.
Well I take those photos with my Toyota logo in the background. So not everyone is trying to flex a Porsche, Mercedes, or BMW. It makes for a good photo because the lighting is usually really good for a casual wrist shot.
@@davisprince5616 Thanks. I put it on my list in May. (They said no to a Pepsi flat out, and I don't want a batman b/c a friend has one.) Fair enough for anonymous posts, but it could be for people who dont want their Rolex ADs to find out what they are doing in the watch groups, especially if they are trying to flip it, etc 😂
When establishing a profile with "The Hourglass" in Australia I was asked for all my socials. I told them I don't do social media because I wear my watches for my gratification, not random strangers on the internet. They didn't like that. Rolex ADs cyber stalk potential clients to see if they are the 'right calibre of person to be seen in their brand'. Suppose that's why I've never heard back from them.
Hi Mark happy Christmas can't say I've noticed the finger wrist check but the thing that bugs me the most is when someone rights in the comments and belittles someone's comments on their watch because they deem it's rubbish and of course there's it's better and cost a lot more money. These aren't proper watch enthusiasts just on an ego trip. Enjoyed your posts this year many thanks John 👍
@JohnBowman-ut4dz thanks John. The ego-trippers love to belittle others don't they. Not true enthusiasts in my opinion, just flexers. John, every now and then I wonder what life would be like if I sold my entire collection and bought the gold deepsea!
@TheRandomWatchDude hi Mark thanks for your reply I don't think it's possible to be a one watch guy but I'm starting to think I need to reduce my collection to maybe about ten (from about twenty)and distinguish between a collection watch to a wearing watch .I have to many collection watches which don't get wrist time and haven't been very good at selling my watches (maybe a good new year's resolution?) thanks John.
@JohnBowman-ut4dz sounds like a good resolution John. I'm in a bit of a Seiko phase right now and my expensive watches are sat in the safe for over a month. It already feels wasteful to have them sat there not being worn.
You know what, that's a massive pet hate of mine too. Lazy people who think they can just order you to give them links and reference numbers!!! Good one 👍
I’m not sure what you mean, at 46 I don’t really find anything annoying or irritating these days, either on social media or on the TV, it must just be you! 🤔😉🤭
Like the content, but I’m middle aged (35) by average life span. A lot of guys that are 20-30 years older than me will say they are middle aged and yet most men live to 70ish.
35 is not middle aged. I'd say 35 is peak of powers for most men. Old enough to have done some stuff (and learned from it), young enough to still do what you want. Get to 50 and you'll know.
@philipmccracken697 I would agree with that wholeheartedly. 35 is the best of everything. You are still fit and stronger than you've ever been, not too many wrinkles, but wise enough to make good life decisions. Anybody who thinks 35 is middle aged is giving up early!
Hey Mate, I noticed you didn't make Teddy Baldassarre's Christmas list of cool kids... Oh well, next year, maybe. Their loss, not yours. Have a Merry Christmas..
@udosteinhauser5661 I think Teddy does that as a power flex, to show everyone that he is the BOSS. I bet he smells lovely in the flesh. Such a nice clean man

On Watchuseek, the absolute most irritating thing is people spamming forums by reposting the same wrist shot over and over and over.

Very nice video...
