Honestly 40k is ridiculous but the car market is ridiculous. I think I’d rather have this at 40k with 40k miles then say a for ranger new at 44k or a new 4Runner at 70k. At 30k it would be a good value again for todays ridiculous market

I had an FJ.. bought it new in 2006 Silver Metallic 6speed... Gave the alloy wheels to a friend and put the Toyota steelies on it. My wife hated the steel wheels. I ended up trading it in for a 5speed Corolla 2 years later. Gas prices got too high. I really miss it.

I bought my FJ used for 19k. Two weeks later Toyota announced ending production. Brought mine in for its first oil change and the dealer offered me 26k to trade it in. The price is warranted because it's called supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay 40k to get one....then market will bear it. I have had mine for 8 years, put miles on it..and can still sell outright for the 26k the dealer offered me...Hell I could probably push it 30k.

Since I took possession of it I have done some custom mods (by users truly). Nothing major. Let's just say mine is unique looking. Still working on modifying it. Headlights are next. Thinking is replacing them with a set of Baja Designs LP9s. High-low beam combo.

Comon, buy used Lexus GX460, more capable, more luxurious, at the same or maybe cheaper price.

How exactly is a Lexus more capable than an FJ40?

@@jackhaugh Lexus GX produces 310HP with V8, all time 4 wheels drive, KDSS, dif lock. FJ produces 260HP with V6, 4 wheels drive but no KDSS. Which one do you pick?

Expect to replace the windshield every 2 months.
Also, the Gas mileage on the FJ is horrible.
The vehicle's poor aerodynamic results to poor gas mileage and broken windshield

Had mine for six years(2014) never had a broken windshield yet. I get 18 mpg mixed driving ; which is fine for me.
PS: I live in Indiana and it was previously in New Hampshire and is pretty rust free. Guess I’m just lucky😊

Maybe you should buy yourself a time machine, go back to 2008, buy that FJ brand new for the 30k(ish) they were going for back then and you’ll be happy. While you’re at it, go further back and buy a 1970 Chevelle brand new off the lot since prices for those are unreasonable as well.
