Ronin, a special shoutout and hearty thank you for helping your dad with this honorable and important work. Cemeteries are special sacred places, filled with people who made the world we live in today possible... and in cases of family cemeteries, made us possible. I know the work is grueling and sometimes less interesting when you don't know the person, but just know your efforts are appreciated by many! Thank you, kind sir!
What you two are doing matters. My Uncle was killed in WWll. He was a 22 year old ball turret gunner in a B-24 Liberator during a raid in 1944 on the Ploesti Oil Field, Poland. The family story says they were shot down by friendly fire. 2 of the 10 man crew lived. The dead were burried in a mass grave in Poland until 1951. Uncles remains were not returned to the US until 1952. He was burried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary, MO...far from his home in Nebraska. My fathers family never recovered, it gave me insight into the man my father was, he was 13 when his brother died. Taps always reminds me of them.
It really is. I definitely never expected close to what we have become so far. Mostly everyone has been so supportive and kind. Thank you for watching!!
AS A USMC VETERAN, I APPRECIATE VERY MUCH THE TIME YOU AND YOUR SON DEDICATE TO OUR HEROS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. GOD BLESS YOU. BOTH 🙏🏼🙌🏽👏🏽 P.S.- GREAT SALUTE RONIN 🫡
Hahahahaha...I love it. I actually tried to go Marines, but the tattoo on the back of my neck stuck up above the dress collar 1/8th of an inch and was an instant no go from the recruiters. So Army it was.
It is much more work than people think. You deserve every penny. God Bless you for caring about the respect of those before us. Its ok that Ronin is loosing interest. You have planted the seed.
I live in California and I’ve been following this channel for a couple days now and absolutely love what you and your son are doing. Ana I love your son’s name as well! I’ve been into cemeteries and graves and hearses forever I’m 51 going on 52 October 31st. Keep up the good work you guys do! Wish I could do the same stuff you guys do but I’ve been physically disabled since birth and can’t transfer to the ground without help. but I still was able to work part time for 30+ years until 2022 when i had to make the hard decision to retire early due to both my shoulders being bone on bone. I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis 2019 so I worked the best I could and loved it. I worked with kids from the ages of 6-18 at a boys and girls club in my city I live. I also went to the club I worked at as a kid from the age of 9-15. The age range at the club is 6-18.
Thomas Comer is my twelve cousin per Family Tree app. Wish I could share the picture to show the connections I'm finding. John W. Butler is my nineth cousin once removed on my great grandmother's side of my mother. William Leo Butler is also nineth cousin once removed via same great grandmother. Ronald Briggs, infant is my first husband's 7th cousin twice removed. Thank you once again for you both doing this selfless chore. We salute you both.
We're family, William and John were my 10th cousins twice removed on my mothers side. I have not found many on my moms side until I found VTR. There are 2 or 3 I've seen so far. Agape love. Here's to family!
Good job, as usual! My parents are in a national cemetery where the grounds and tombstones always look immaculate. I'm glad there are people like you two who will take care of those who served who are not in the national cemeteries. If you ever come across a veteran tombstone that is just in terrible shape, the military will replace it. I found that an ancestor who served in the Civil War had a tombstone that had been discarded due to extreme damage. I contacted a nearby military base and they ordered a new one for him. They said they take care of the "old boys", too. I did have to pay to have it installed in the city cemetery where he was buried, but it was worth it.
Even though your son may not share the passion for grave cleaning with you, at least not right now, you can see that he loves just spending time with you. You are teaching him valuable lessons in work ethic, dedication, patriotism, good deeds, following your passion, caring for others, respecting the dead, and more. He will take those teachings with him throughout his life. He will always have those good memories about his time with you. You are doing great. God bless you both.
I know he will continue to help out from time to time….but he’s almost a pre teen now and o have three older sons….I know the change that’s coming. Haha.
Once again, you amaze me! I'm not surprise Ronin is growing away from this wonderful project. He's a pre-teen boy and well, you know how that goes. BUT while saying this, I was extremely pleased when you said that YOU were continuing! BRAVO! I know this project was started based on Ronin's original idea. However, to hear that it's now a heartfelt project to you now, even if Ronin doesn't participate, is wonderful. Thank you for all the heart you put into cleaning each headstone that you do and your continued effort ahead.
Yeah, Ronin will always be welcome to come help if and when he wants, but I don’t want to make this a forced thing to where he begins to associate it with negative memories. I’m sure he will keep helping out when I have him for a while longer.
Just found your channel the other day I'm in Scotland and I'm hooked. I love cemeteries and looking at the memorials. I just wondered if you'd ever thought of reaching out to the manufacturer of D2 and tell them about your channel and the free cleans you do for children and veterans they make sell you it at a discount or sponsor your channel just a thought. Stones look amazing and your son is a real credit to you not many teenagers would want to help do this type of work. Look forward to seeing more beautiful memorials.
Scotland huh? That’s a new one. I’m blown away that our little videos are being watched by people around the world. I know on the website that I offer my D2 they used to do a memorial clean up challenge where you submit your best before and after photo using D2. I don’t think they did one this year, but if they do it again, I plan to submit one in particular. I’ve never thought about anything along the lines you refer to though….I’m not very good at marketing skills.
Yes. I was active duty Army for a few years before deciding on being a police officer. Thank you for watching and we would take you up on your offer to help. The more brushes going the better.
Ronin is a fascinating name, with Irish and Japanese origins. A noble name from feudal Japan. It dates back very far and is a warrior-samurai name. You are a warrior in your own way. Your mission a noble one, defending dignity and rememberance for these seemingly forgotten people and places.
He was named after a favorite cartoon of mine back in middle school. Hahaha. I just loved the name and his mom did also...I just waited until it was on his birth certificate to tell her where I got the name from. HAhahah
When paying respects at a military headstone as a civilian, follow these guidelines: Men with hats: Place your hat in front of your left shoulder. Men without hats and women: Place your right hand over your heart
It really has. One video in particular is the root cause. It’s funny….the videos I debate even posting (as I don’t think it’ll do particularly well) are the ones that get our most views and the ones that I think will take off, do a couple hundred at most. It’s weird. We have over 9k now and it’s about 9k more than I ever expected to get. Haha.
I would like to start doing this myself. What kind of brushes are you using. So I know what is the right ones to get. People have said horse brushes are the best. Would like some feedback.
I am actually about to order some horse hair brushes myself to check out. Haven’t used those yet, but hear good things. We just use nylon brushes. Anything non metallic basically. So they won’t leave any scratches or scuffs on the stone.
Such a beautiful way to honour veterans. Thank you. From a 🇨🇦 follower (my father was USN).
Thank you. My dad was a Vietnam vet and AIR FORCE career. Us kids were born and raised on AIR FORCE BASES. Loved the life he gave us
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. MUCH RESPECT
Your son, Ronin, is an awesome young man. Good job, dad.
Well done both of you, a great thing to do ❤

Interesting. Love always finding connections. A bit more than six degrees of separation though. But still cool.

I like the idea of all the headstones in one video!!!
I do this from time to time….but definitely makes it harder to edit and gives less content to spread out over the week.
@@VirginiaTombstoneRevival maybe a still collage?
Hey, neighbors 👋🏻 I just found your channel. God bless you both for doing this. Have a great Memorial Day weekend. Much ❤ from Virginia Beach ☀🌊⛱🐚
Hiya! We will actually be in VB this weekend. We are doing the ziplines at Adventure Park for their Glow in the Park thing. We love that place!

So far all of the ones we have cleaned have been in good shape, but just dirty. I will remember that for sure!

John W is also on the larger tombstone next to William’s. They had to have been brothers, so sad to both have died so young.
Yeah I actually mentioned that in the video, but that got edited out. Definitely think they were family members.
So were you in the military? I think its awesome you what you do. Kids will be kids. Lol. If i was there i would get out and help.❤❤❤❤❤❤

It’s ok. Entirely possible they were just close by because of their last names. Thanks for checking anyhow!
