Hey! It wont let me publish my addon that I was working on with a model... But this give me the "Cannot run program ""\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory ""): CreateProcess error=123, The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect " Where do i find the gmpublish executable file? Or how do I fix this problem?

( Mario and Fnaf ), I edited them( after extracted with gmad ), Mario appear in my Ragdolls ( but not in the playermodels ) and thz Foxy edited have a ''folder'' in the ragdolls saying there's 4 models in the addons ( foxy and arms, bonnie and arms ) but there's nothing showed up, neither in the playermodel :/ ( needless to say it was my first try yesterday xD )
I have one question : how i put pictures to show the addon itseltf, what i want to upload are a few models so on the addon page i want to show pictures of the models, how i do that? Anyways great tutorial
Thanks! To upload photos, first upload the addon. Now go to the addon's Steam Workshop page and there should be some sort of edit button on the right side, I believe. It's most likely labeled either Edit or Media. In there, you should find the options to add images.
Ok, thanks for answer me! And all is good except when i use the "execute" button it loads all but finally gives me an error that says "Could not load icon - must be baseline 512x512 jpeg!" but the image I use its have the correct resolution, I have no idea what to do, help!

I uploaded a swep with no custom content to the workshop. It's just a lua script. My problem is the swep doesn't show when downloaded from the workshop but works when in your addons folder. What possible problems could be causing this?
Cool thanks :) So i get this error when opening the gmpu jar file: Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin"): CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified Any idea what this means, or how to fix it? looks like i need to get gmpublish in my bin folder but cant find a download for it :|
Click "Set Paths" in the Garry's Mod Publishing Utility. Then set the paths to gmad and gmpublish. The paths are located in your GarrysMod/bin folder. They are NOT located in the GarrysMod/garrysmod/bin folder. The two programs come with Gmod by default. Good luck! :)
My garrysmod/bin folder was empty - no Gmad, no Gmpublish o.O I guess Steam had an update Years ago where everyone moved their stuff to the Common folder :I And i just kept using the original steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod folder path.. Reinstalled Gmod and i now have a buncha stuff in the Steam/steamapps/common/garrysmod/bin folder.. reinstalling seemed to work, and i have GMPT working, Thanks for the help ^^
Hello, I need some help with textures. I have the .vtf file and .vtm file on my desktop and in counter strike source materials folder. now I dont know which two files I put into the folder, I wanted to see you open the material folder for your addon to get a general idea but sadly you skipped over it :( my main question is...What do I add into the materials folder in the addon you are making correctly?
+Black Parade When making your QC file, you have to set a specific directory for your materials for the model. This directory is essentially a "child" of the materials directory in your game. Yes, you do have to actually create the directory; the program does not generate the folder inside of the materials folder. Your materials that you have made go into that folder that folder you made in the materials folder.
+Black Parade OR if you are not modelling the model itself or if your materials are just standalone as materials, you have to place them into the appropriate directory in the materials folder. It all depends on where these materials are from. If they're from a Gmod model then just replicate the directory structure for the material folder that you found in the addon's materials folder. If they're for a map you can do the same as for models.
+Tactical Films These are standalone materials/textures , no models. So what I'm understanding is I have to set a directory to my---well my steam/steam apps/common/counter strike source/cstrike/materials folder. In that folder I have a custom texture, one is Vtf and one is vtm files. I also want to mention that one of the two files for the texture is opened with notepad, having a directory for Hammer where to find the texture. What I'm assuming is I place my texture ( both files) into the materials folder (inside my workshop addon) with a text file saying the directory of where to find my texture (Sorry for the long post...)
I'm trying to upload a Photon car that I made to the workshop, but it can't fine the .lua files and when I manually put it in it just says 'Status Waiting' and doesn't coninue
There appears to be a completely unheard of error that nobody on the searchable internet seems to know anything about. It looks something like: "File 'filename.vmt' seems to be empty, or we couldn't get its size! (errno=132) " The VMT file that triggers it isn't empty, and there's nothing visibly wrong with the file. Searching this error turns up nothing, and no one even knows how to respond to seeing this error when asked for help.
OK, I verified the integrity of the game cache, gmad.exe is back to normal, but when i extract something, it fails. I put the paths like u said in the text file, but it doesn't work. Do you want me to send you what it says?
Hey man, im having a problem with gmpu. When you start if for the first time, or when you press Settings, it asks for some paths to gmad.exe or another program. when i try to create a .GMA it tells me this: Cannot run program ""\gmad.exe"" (in directory ""): CreateProcess error=123, El nombre de archivo, el nombre de directorio o la sintaxis de la etiqueta del volumen no son correctos Finished running queue. Where do i find this gmad.exe?
+lordmarum Hi, you would usually find gmad.exe and gmpublish.exe in your Garry's Mod folder. The folder path usually looks something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin Hope it helps!
TommTutorials Im sorry, but its till happening... It says: Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin"): CreateProcess error=2, El sistema no puede encontrar el archivo especificado (that last part translates "The system could not find the specified file") And in the bin folder there is only a bunch of .dll's :( Any idea?
+lordmarum had the same problem and found whats wrong, those files arent in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin\ but in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin\ hope that helps
For those who can't run the .jar file, You will need to download the Java environment for it to run. Download Link - www.java.com/en/download/ After the download, Try running the application again and it should work.
I'm trying to create and upload a model pack for my server to the workshop but I keep on getting this: Successfully saved to "temp.gma" [512.0 MB] Garry's Workshop Publisher 1.1 [Compiled Mar 29 2016 - 17:58:05] Storage Quota: 1.0 GB total, 1024.0 MB free Opening temp.gma Compressing.. Refreshing addon list. Retreving list of Addons. Retrieval Finished! I'm really confused, any ideas? Thanks
+Finn Murray The key thing here is the "Compressing.. [512.0 MB] => Failed!" What sucks about the workshop is that there is a low size limit. Try to reduce the size of your addon to like 150 MB or less. I think that may work. Also, do some trial and error to see what the largest possible size can be without the compression failed error. Then you can upload your addon in parts and have people subscribe to all parts. There's a feature in the Steam workshop to allow for forcing a user to subscribe to other addons if they subscribe to a given addon.
this always happens to me with any mod, always when it ends a mod appears in my workshop only that it appears with a grey icon and it has no name and also not to change the visibility, how can I fix it?
Help? "Cannot run program ""C:\Users\Robert\Desktop\workshop\gmad.exe"" (in directory "C:\Users\Robert\Desktop\workshop"): CreateProcess error=740, The requested operation requires elevation Finished running queue."
Can I create Modpacks in the same way? Because everytime I try it the creation fails af the compressing process. Here is the Log after all maps are checked: Successfully saved to "temp.gma" [511.7 MB] Garry's Workshop Publisher 1.1 [Compiled Nov 11 2016 - 19:23:41] Storage Quota: 1.0 GB total, 1024.0 MB free Opening temp.gma Compressing.. The reason for this error is because your addon is over 200 MB. I'm not sure of the exact maximum that you can pack into an addon, but I don't think it can go any higher than maybe 250 MB? Just try to split the addon into three addons that are less than 200 MB, just to be safe.
My addon won't upload and i've been waiting for several hours. It's only 40 MB and I made sure all my files we're lowercase. Any ideas on what might be wrong?
I'm trying to upload a gamemode. When I try to export it it doesn't accept neither the gamemode.txt file or the .png images in it. "Not accepted by whitelist". Please help
Hi how do you create a background's addon and publish it to the Garry's Mod Steam workshop? Because I'm currently a contributor to a TARDIS Background addon by Septex. But Septex hasn't updated it recently with my recent awesome screenshots. So I've decided to create my own backgrounds addon. But I do not know how to create a backgrounds addon and publish it to the workshop. I've Googled steps for it but found nothing. Only found about how to change the default background images in Gmod. But not actually publishing them to Steam's Gmod workshop. Can you help me please?
+Thunder_Storm666 idk, you can upload the addons, then subscribe to download the addons! =D btw i have searched how to create addons, but doesnt say ;--;
"Couldn't load icon - is it a jpeg?" is the issue. Make sure that the image is, in fact, a jpg. Try re-saving it in a program like Photoshop or even at pixlr.com to a jpg if it already is one and it isn't being recognized. It also has to be 500px x 500px.
That's an old compile log there lol "[Compiled Nov 11 2016 - 19:23:41]" In any case, make sure your image is a 512x512 JPG. If it is a JPG, go to a site like image.online-convert.com/convert-to-jpg and convert it to a JPG (again) - the format could be corrupt or whatever.
Try going into Photoshop or Pixlr and re-save it as a jpg. Try changing the image size again to make sure that the program isn't making some sort of error.
+MrJackson885 That's quite strange. Make sure that the progress says "Done," near the top. Also ensure that there are no errors in the output box. Just look for obvious things like "failed" something or "error" doing something else. Also try to check your private workshop page because you could have clicked "'your username' favourites." And then make sure to set it to public if you want others to see it. Hope it helps!
Nice intro, I was thinking about making an intro where a bank vault opens, cause I liked payday 2, and I thought it was unique and all that stuff, but now I quit that project and now you made an intro like that, :D.
This might mean that the map was not placed in the addon's "maps" directory, it could be corrupt, and it even could be in the wrong format (needs to be .bsp). In terms of updating, there is an option for that in GMPU, just hit the little option near the top of the program, click on one of the addons which you have uploaded, and you can go from there. Just make sure that Steam is running prior to opening/using GMPU.
+TommTutorials Thank you for your answer! hmm it is a .bsp so this should't be the problem. could it be that the "garrys mod" folder is in the wrong directory? beacuse it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\"my Steam-name" with a few other games, while the most games are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common.
+AGuy Also, after subscribing to do, go to the original BSP file, check the name of that file and copy it to your clipboard, go into Gmod, open your developer console by pressing ~, type in "map THE_BSPs_NAME" without quotes and replace THE_... with the exact name of the BSP map file. If that works, then it should open the map for you.
+TommTutorials hmh when I try to download it in the ingame workshop my console say : "GOT FILE DETAILS! Couldn't mount addon - couldn't find file addons/upload_test_608487425.gma Download Finished END: DownloadAddons Addons have changes - remounting" maybe this gives some info what I´ve done wrong :/
Is this safe please tell me if so I really want to make a Rowan The Destroyer ragdoll I have the file already but I am new and need help getting started and I am not to techy so I found this. Please let me know if this is safe.
I am having trouble with the console...it says it works just fine and attempts to upload the addon to my workshop item folder, but for some reason, it has problems with uploading with the thumbnail pic for the addon. I adjusted it so it would work with the gmod workshop, but it still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
I did it at 512 x 512px. As for the error log, if my image is a .jpg file, it asks if its a jpg. If the image is a .png file, it asks if its a png. The pic is set to the requirements of the steam workshop, and it seems like its broken or something. I have no idea what's wrong!
Are you saving the file as jpeg/jpg/png or are you simply renaming one to the other? You must save the image as a png or jpg directly from Photoshop or wherever you are creating it. If you are doing it properly though, then that's awwfully strange. I would suggest trying to go to some website to convert my image to a jpg or png even though it is already one. This is to make sure that the program isn't messing up here. Also, make sure the program is properly saving it as 512 x 512px. You can do that by right-clicking on it and checking its properties > details.
I made sure. I was using ms paint to reformat it. It usually tells you in the bottom right the dimensions for the picture. Mine was 512x512px. My pic was saved as a .jpg file.
Yes! The only things that you require for playermodels are i) a skeleton (you can grab one from a default source engine playermodel by decompiling) and ii) properly doing the "weights" for each bone in Blender (this essentially means attaching the bones to the actual mesh).
How about like getting a addon that you REALLY like and you don't want the author to ever delete from the workshop? Like what I mean is there a way I can like... get that addon and like save it somewhere where I can use it even if the author deletes the original mod?
You cannot do that, sadly. You have to "compile" it using the Hammer editor. The Hammer editor is built into Garry's Mod and source games. It can be found in the game's "bin" folder.
hey um need to talk can you fix this words i get this on the jar Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin"): CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified
It all depends on how you got the map. If you made the map, then you should take all of the materials/models/sounds which you used and place them into your addon. If you simply extracted the map, grab its materials/models/sounds, which are in the map's folder, and place them into your addon. Your map may also be using CSS/HL2, or any other games, so it may not have any materials/models/sounds that may be found bundled together with it. In that case, you'd have to download those off of some website. You could try cscheater, they have all of the materials/models/sounds.
someone please help, when I click open when I downloaded it and it said what to open it with, then I select internet explorer, and then it just repeats and repeats.
Go into your Windows Explorer settings View>Options>View and check "Show hidden files, folders, and drives", and also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now go to the materials/t folder and delete desktop.ini from there. Once that's done, go back to Windows Explorer settings and undo what we did previously. Hope this helps! :)
Hello, I'm having an issue. When I upload my file to the Workshop, it's a .lua and I had converted it from a .txt to .lua in Notepad++, it doesn't upload. I read some previous comments and you said that .lua is approved but it doesn't upload. Also it does mentioned that whitelist error of not allowing it or something. Please help, thanks
+Scott Klein 1. Do you have the view all extensions option turned on in Windows Explorer? Like to be able to see whether it's .txt, .lua, etc? 2. What exactly is not allowed by the whitelist, according to the log displayed in the box?
Hello again, it did mention it had been the .lua file I believe so.. But I'll turn on the extensions option you mentioned before to see if that will fix the issue. I'll report back to see what I get. Thanks.
+TommTutorials Okay, I checked and it's a .lua type file and I checked to see if there were any hidden items within the folder and there aren't. Now I wonder if it could be the directory file of where it goes, but your Notepad document is the same to where I go except just on a different drive and no ProgramFilesx86. My directory is: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin
+Scott Klein Do you have an antivirus running or something that may prevent you from accessing that directory? Does the log display any sorts of errors? It's usually pretty helpful in those terms.
That's quite strange. Here are a few things that may help: 1. Your Steam must be running. 2. Avoid running Gmod while uploading addons (hl2.exe might still be running so check task manager). 3. Check if your addon(s) are privated.
Hello +TommTutorials ! I have a problem, where some of my files are "not allowed by whitelist" and the program won't upload my content. What should I do?
+Cris Horváth Means you have files that are not allowed. There is a whitelist that allows files like .lua, sounds, folders, etc. info.txt or addon.txt are not needed. You can only upload files that would normally be mounted by the game, except for: .dll, .exe, .htm, .html, .css and .js files are restricted. .txt files are restricted too, except for vehicle scripts. You might also have hidden system files inside of your folder which may cause this error such as thumbs.db.
Hello again! I would like to present you another problem I have experienced recently... Whatever .jpg/.jpeg/else picture I would like to use as the icon (they are even 512x512!) the program doesn't accept it, questioning: "is it a .jpg/.jpeg?" Could you help me please?
Hmm, did you rename another image that was ex. png or any other format to jpeg/jpg? If so that's not good, you need to either convert the file or just save it as a jpeg. Other than that I'm not sure. If there's a specific error message then I might be able to help you further.
What should my paths be? I have no idea where gmpublish would be EDIT: found the path, my steam is not in the usual location so i had to set it manually. It's \Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin for anyone who doesn't know.
Try converting those wav files into wav files, again, or re-save them in an audio editing software. I know it sounds strange to do that, but it is possible that they could have been saved improperly. You can also go here audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-wav and convert to wav, from wav.
Okay. So I did everything correctly and then this was in the error log: Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin\gmad.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin"): CreateProcess error=193, %1 is not a valid Win32 application Finished running queue.
In this case, I'm really not sure. What I'd suggest is to reinstall Java. If that does not work, simply refer to this old tutorial which still works: th-cam.com/video/oyjsjoAUfs0/w-d-xo.html
I figured it out. 'my' gmad.exe was at 0 bytes and was literally corrupt. A friend passed me his gmad.exe and I believe I got stuff working now. Thanks anyway.

you need to press 'paths' and change the directory to what drive you use. author should have mentioned this as default is c:\ drive
it only took 5 videos to find someone who explained it well.. thanks

I've checked on my workshop, and it's not there.

+TacticalFilms I made a ragdoll of my Mario OC ( see my icon xD ) but as for the playermodels it look harder :/
Yeah, it's a bit harder but not too hard. It requires adding bones and stuff. Just extract a skeleton from some HL2 playermodel and you'll be all set.

Oh, I think you need to include the lua file for the playermodels and edit it to work with yours. Like there should be something in the lua folder.

Thanks! To upload photos, first upload the addon. Now go to the addon's Steam Workshop page and there should be some sort of edit button on the right side, I believe. It's most likely labeled either Edit or Media. In there, you should find the options to add images.

What I'm assuming is I place my texture ( both files) into the materials folder (inside my workshop addon) with a text file saying the directory of where to find my texture
(Sorry for the long post...)
I'm trying to upload a Photon car that I made to the workshop, but it can't fine the .lua files and when I manually put it in it just says 'Status Waiting' and doesn't coninue
There appears to be a completely unheard of error that nobody on the searchable internet seems to know anything about. It looks something like:
"File 'filename.vmt' seems to be empty, or we couldn't get its size! (errno=132)
"
The VMT file that triggers it isn't empty, and there's nothing visibly wrong with the file. Searching this error turns up nothing, and no one even knows how to respond to seeing this error when asked for help.
Ok, I understand all of this, but lets say I just finished making a map on hammer editor. How do I make it seperate into four different files?
+Matthew Javier and P.S. what is ur steam user name cuz i want to know so i can tell u when i have a problem with something
+Matthew Javier steamcommunity.com/id/CryptAlchemy
I have an idea. Maybe you can send me gmad.exe through gmail.
cuz u can use drive
OK, I verified the integrity of the game cache, gmad.exe is back to normal, but when i extract something, it fails. I put the paths like u said in the text file, but it doesn't work. Do you want me to send you what it says?
did you make the map or we have to make the map?
Hey man, im having a problem with gmpu. When you start if for the first time, or when you press Settings, it asks for some paths to gmad.exe or another program. when i try to create a .GMA it tells me this:
Cannot run program ""\gmad.exe"" (in directory ""): CreateProcess error=123, El nombre de archivo, el nombre de directorio o la sintaxis de la etiqueta del volumen no son correctos
Finished running queue.
Where do i find this gmad.exe?
+lordmarum Hi, you would usually find gmad.exe and gmpublish.exe in your Garry's Mod folder. The folder path usually looks something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin
Hope it helps!
TommTutorials Im sorry, but its till happening...
It says:
Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin"): CreateProcess error=2, El sistema no puede encontrar el archivo especificado
(that last part translates "The system could not find the specified file")
And in the bin folder there is only a bunch of .dll's :(
Any idea?
Hmm.. you could try running GMPU as an administrator, that might work.
+lordmarum had the same problem and found whats wrong, those files arent in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin\
but in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin\
hope that helps
Roy Moshe Thank you so much! That solved it. Appreciated ;)
Is it possible to combine a gma file under a folder?
Can you make a Video how to upload footstep sounds?
For those who can't run the .jar file, You will need to download the Java environment for it to run.
Download Link - www.java.com/en/download/
After the download, Try running the application again and it should work.

+TommTutorials Ok thanks man ill give it a shot and see how it goes
this always happens to me with any mod, always when it ends a mod appears in my workshop only that it appears with a grey icon and it has no name and also not to change the visibility, how can I fix it?
what software do you use to open the addon maker?

The reason for this error is because your addon is over 200 MB. I'm not sure of the exact maximum that you can pack into an addon, but I don't think it can go any higher than maybe 250 MB? Just try to split the addon into three addons that are less than 200 MB, just to be safe.
Thanks for the reply, I got to manage it yesterday, with a maximum of ca. 330MB per folder/addon.

Hi I am wondering how do you publish backgrounds as addons on Steam Workshop?
Can you help me please?

thats what it says
"Couldn't load icon - is it a jpeg?" is the issue. Make sure that the image is, in fact, a jpg. Try re-saving it in a program like Photoshop or even at pixlr.com to a jpg if it already is one and it isn't being recognized. It also has to be 500px x 500px.

In any case, make sure your image is a 512x512 JPG. If it is a JPG, go to a site like image.online-convert.com/convert-to-jpg and convert it to a JPG (again) - the format could be corrupt or whatever.
Thanks a lot for the help and the awesome video tutorial!(oh yeah and the website worked!)

isn,t working im done than it comes when i put the Icon 512x512 in this thing..., and then error (Not a 512x512 image?) Can you help me?
Is the image a .jpg? I believe that it only accepts jpg files.
yes it is a jpg
Try going into Photoshop or Pixlr and re-save it as a jpg. Try changing the image size again to make sure that the program isn't making some sort of error.
I click "execute" and all it gives me is:
"Executing queue.
Finished running queue."
And the addon isn't published. Any idea?
+MrJackson885 That's quite strange. Make sure that the progress says "Done," near the top. Also ensure that there are no errors in the output box. Just look for obvious things like "failed" something or "error" doing something else. Also try to check your private workshop page because you could have clicked "'your username' favourites." And then make sure to set it to public if you want others to see it. Hope it helps!
Nice intro, I was thinking about making an intro where a bank vault opens, cause I liked payday 2, and I thought it was unique and all that stuff, but now I quit that project and now you made an intro like that, :D.
Thanks :)
Any way to attach an Icon that will show up in the map browser?
So I know this was a while ago, but I really need to know. Using this - how do I add a model in, for a player model and / or ragdoll?
Hey, I have uploaded my map in the Workshop and subsribed it, but I can´t see the map in the ingame map list thing.
what´s wrong?
+AGuy The "my username" directory has been deprecated by Steam and everything should go into the common folder.
+TommTutorials hmh when I try to download it in the ingame workshop my console say :
"GOT FILE DETAILS!
Couldn't mount addon - couldn't find file addons/upload_test_608487425.gma
Download Finished
END: DownloadAddons
Addons have changes - remounting"
maybe this gives some info what I´ve done wrong :/
Is this safe please tell me if so I really want to make a Rowan The Destroyer ragdoll I have the file already but I am new and need help getting started and I am not to techy so I found this. Please let me know if this is safe.
its safe
when i download gpu the file i have to open isn't .jar and i tried downloading java
+Gamer#1 Is there some sort of error log that gets printed? What are the exact dimensions of the image? I believe it must be 512 x 512px.
This did help thanks :)

HELP
After about an hour of using the program it glitched out, so i closed it but it wouldn't let me open it up again.
i did exactly as u did but the workshop file isnt up on steam?
+BullshiettGaming dose the name or disc have caps then remobe them and re add them in steam
I removed the caps and it still doesn't come up
Does this work with playermodels too?
Like what I mean is there a way I can like... get that addon and like save it somewhere where I can use it even if the author deletes the original mod?
use a workshop downloader

Another question (sorry)
How to you get a bsp out of a vmf
You cannot do that, sadly. You have to "compile" it using the Hammer editor. The Hammer editor is built into Garry's Mod and source games. It can be found in the game's "bin" folder.
hey um need to talk can you fix this words i get this on the jar Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin\gmpublish.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\bin"): CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified

i only got the .bsp file of my map. how do i get the folder with the textures and the other stuff?
It all depends on how you got the map. If you made the map, then you should take all of the materials/models/sounds which you used and place them into your addon. If you simply extracted the map, grab its materials/models/sounds, which are in the map's folder, and place them into your addon. Your map may also be using CSS/HL2, or any other games, so it may not have any materials/models/sounds that may be found bundled together with it. In that case, you'd have to download those off of some website. You could try cscheater, they have all of the materials/models/sounds.
all the files are in the bsp file. but i don't know how to get the .gma file
You can make a gma file by using the Gmod Publishing Utility. There's an option for that.
i have to attach the bsp file or the folder where the bsp file is in?
I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. You put the bsp file into the /maps directory.
someone please help, when I click open when I downloaded it and it said what to open it with, then I select internet explorer, and then it just repeats and repeats.
You cannot open a zip file with internet explorer. You must click Windows Explorer.
thats not there, there is only movie maker, paint, photo gallery, windows media player and thats it, where do I get windows exploerer.
TacticalFilms there is no windows explorer
Try double-clicking it or also try opening it with a program like WinRAR or 7zip.
It says in this "console" that "Cannot run map (my map)" any solutions?

it worked and uploaded but i cant find the model i need help if someone is still on this video
can I put pill packs in?
Hi why is this in my log?
map/ttt_mc_forts.bsp
[Not allowed by whitelist]
How do I solve this?
Rename "map" to "maps"
materials/t/desktop.ini
[Not allowed by whitelist] what do i need to do? and also i dont have any file with that name

Is the log area being filled with a bunch of text or is it blank? Did you click "Add to Que" ?
yeah. then I let it sit for 20 mins while I sent the comment and nothing is poping up on my workshop.

Thank you, mate!
Ohh, thank you very much, it worked!

It's a 512x512 .jpg ...... any help?
Try to go to a site like Pixlr and re-save the icon as a jpg. For some reason, the Gmod addon published doesn't know how to read jpegs sometimes.
TacticalFilms I fixed it! Saving jpg's with GIMP doesn't work but with photoshop it does. Thanks!
Alright sweet! Glad it helped :)
I got this error:
sound/freight sound pack/wheel squeaks/7.wav
sound/freight sound pack/wheel squeaks/70.wav
sound/freight sound pack/wheel squeaks/8.wav
sound/freight sound pack/wheel squeaks/9.wav

i'm trying to make an addon but all the sound files are showing as not allowed by whitelist
heres a example: friscowhistle.wav
can any1 help?
Try converting those wav files into wav files, again, or re-save them in an audio editing software. I know it sounds strange to do that, but it is possible that they could have been saved improperly. You can also go here audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-wav and convert to wav, from wav.
Tactical Films k thx I will try that
ok that didn't work, you think it might be something else?
+Jackboy317 It could be. Paste the log into here so that I can take a look.
Okay. So I did everything correctly and then this was in the error log:
Cannot run program ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin\gmad.exe"" (in directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\bin"): CreateProcess error=193, %1 is not a valid Win32 application
Finished running queue.
No problem!
