Just to summarize what you got wrong from the comments: Fusion suit is weaker than the power suit. I know you're claiming the ability to absorb X is its power, but at the very least I would put it in the dark/light suit tier since that's the tier for situational, environment-dependent powers. In fact I'd probably say it goes Fusion < Light < Dark < Varia < Gravity, just because you are more likely to encounter extreme heat or gravity environments. Other than that, pretty good job on the tier list.
I felt like, in context to gameplay, the fusion suit was far weaker than other suits were. The mobility was definitely a plus, but I weigh that as not being quite as valuable as being able to take hits. Pre-Fusion/Dread Samus is noticeably tankier
Fusion suit is definitely the worst suit, it isnt for no reaso that fusion suit is the hardest mode in samus returns. Also only having advantage over X when the menace is over is useless.
1: Omega Suit isn't really a separate suit of its own. It's just the Fusion Suit, but modified after Samus regains all of her missing gear and DNA from the SA-X. 2: Raven Beak was a Mawkin, a warrior tribe of Chozo who hunted the Metroids. Mawkin DNA does the opposite of what you stated; it enrages Metroid DNA, which ultimately triggered the transformation of Samus' Fusion Suit into the Metroid Suit. It was her Thoha genes given to her by Gray Voice that suppressed her Metroid DNA, as the Thoha were the ones capable of controlling the Metroids.
@@bravewater5737 If Quiet Robe was the guy from Dread that got killed off shortly after his introduction, nope. I don't think he had anything to do with Samus. Aside from giving her *more* Thoha genes as part of the X that copied him getting absorbed into her to quell her Metroid Suit so she could use her ship and escape ZDR.
@@bravewater5737 Quiet Robe is the Chozo from Dread, Gray Voice is a character from the manga that was canonized. In it, Gray Voice is the one to give Samus their Chozo DNA.
The fact that Samus got cold resist from the varia suit in fusion, but needed the stronger gravity suit in dread used to bother me. But then I relaized that what I though was an oversight was actually brilliant foreshadowing. Samus's cold weakness comes from her metroid DNA she gained in Fusion. In dread we know the metroid is growing stronger, thus its weaknesses would be amplified as well!
I thought it was more due to control temperatures on a space station instead of a raw environment. Plus it was Federation tech absorb by the X versus proper Chozo Tech.
A year late but who cares, I had the same issue with the Varia suit, but I got over it a different way. In Fusion, the Federation sent Samus their Varia suit data. The data was specifically adapted to Samus' situation so she could survive colder areas and survive encounters with the X that used the colder atmosphere to attain a more icy form in order to be potentially lethal to Samus. It was *meant* to protect her from the cold, as well as the typical Varia suit stuff. The Varia suit in Dread, while adapting to the appearance of Samus' suit, was the Chozo original, or a variant of it. It was meant for extreme heat and similar areas, and nothing else. It was not a variant prepared in mind for someone with a severe weakness to freezing temperatures.
Putting the fusion suit above the gravity suit feels very incorrect. She is very, explicitly, weakened by the loss of most of her armor. Pretty much the only advantage it has is the ability to grip ledges without an additional upgrade. I think it ranks above the zero suit, but below everything else. And it's weird to say that the "Justin Bailey" suit has the properties of the Varia Suit or that the Fully Powered Suit has the color scheme of the Gravity Suit. Those suits only have those properties IF (or because) Samus has those upgrades in the game. Justin Bailey Suit is just whatever suit properties you happen to have at the time being applied to Samus's leotard thing, and the Fully Powered Suit has all the same properties as the regular power suit, just with better compatibility so it can use the gravity suit upgrade.
Yeah, the fusion suit was one of samus' weakest armors. You took so much damage with it, even with the gravity suit upgrade, and it just overall looked much less "armored" than stuff like the Varia Suit. And this is all in addition to Samus being weaker from the x infection, like you said.
3:03 To clarify some things about the "Fully Powered Suit": It's essentially a "Mark 2" Power Suit, whereas the one she has for the majority of Zero Mission could be considered a "mark 1". She keeps the MK2 Suit for the rest of the series, and even after losing her suit in Fusion, is able to keep the MK2 system to use things like the Plasma Beam.
That's what I thought too. In Zero Mission, you can see chozo statues with the flat shoulders like the "Mark 1" suit, and other chozo statues with round shoulder pads like the "Mark 2". If you use cheats to have the fully powered suit but turn off Gravity, you can see that the Power Suit and Varia Suit still keep the round shoulders by themselves. Before you get the Fully Powered Suit, the Varia upgrade even has the flat shoulders.
@@PinkP0nyPr0ducti0n5 Can you link a video with this? Not because I don't believe you, but because I'm interested as hell in what the base Power Suit looks like in Mk. 2 Mode.
The fusion suit was stated by the devs to be Samus at her weakest. She lacks most of the protection of the power suit and she's vulnerability to cold. The raw fusion suit should be below the power suit. All of the fusion suits are objectively inferior to the power suit alternatives except for maybe the 'omega' suit. The dread suit, even, isn't up to the same level as the power suit, which is why she still takes much more damage than in previous games, iirc. At least until she gets the gravity upgrade abs the thing is fully covered in armor.
@@revolvingworld2676 almost. The situation that lead to her having the fusion suit caused her to be so much weaker to certain things, such as the cold, and inability to use the Ice Beam under any circumstances, that the Fusion Suit is weaker than her Zero Suit, because when she had the Zero Suit, she didn't have the weaknesses the has with the Fusion Suit.
@@revolvingworld2676 Yeah, I don't have an opinion on it. I've only actually ever beaten fusion, dread, and the ds remake of 2, so i dont actually know how it works. What i know just comes from videos and lore pieces I come across.
@@volcanolord100 All you need to know is that cold weakness aside, Fusion Suit is MAD durable compared to Zero Suit, which loses a WHOLE E-Tank to a pirate attacks during that segment of Zero Mission. And considering what the Fusion Suit would become in Dread, there's an argument for it to be pretty high up. The defense problem fixed itself in Dread after her suit started repairing the missing mechanical parts, and she'd later gain the ability to not only absorb X Parasites, but absorb anything thanks to the Metroid DNA that made the suit finally activating.
In design the best is the Dread Suit for me, and as the PED Suit would be more powerful, we still don't know how far the limits of the Metroid Suit go, let's wait for the next game that the creator confirmed that he wanted to continue the saga with another direction explain to us what will happen to the Metroid Suit now that Samus has even more control of her DNA
We do know that Metroids are one of the fee creatures that can survive direct phazon exposure due to their energy absorbing properties. It's a big reason why Metroid Prime even exists. So there's a good chance that the Metroid Suit could endure the effects of phazon
@@marche800 IF Phazon even exists in the next game. The creator stated that the phazon saga has ended. Phazon itself was part of prime, which is a spinoff itself. If they release prime 4 with callbacks to phazon that'll be fire.
@@marche800 Samus herself endured the effects of phazon. Phazon was also rendered completely inert when Phaaze was destroyed, which canonically happens before Metroid II: Return of Samus/Samus Returns. I know you said in your next comment on here that it was a hypothetical, but I wanted to point this out to those who don't have this info.
Samus is invulnerable to damage in the PED's hyper mode, so even with the risk, it's hard to call the phazon suit better, especially since as a player, you can abuse the invulnerability by edging the hyper mode bar when it's continually filling up to force the auto vent. If you don't want to deal with enemies in a room, you can flicker hyper mode on and off to eat hits without taking damage.
The risk with the PED is tied to Samus's corruption rather than the suit itself. If she had a PED tank similar to the Federation troopers it would eliminate that risk while keeping all the power. The problem with the Phazon Suit is that she needs to absorb Phazon from the ground to use its attack. Although said attack is probably stronger than anything the PED can do, so if she had a similar way of generating Phazon with it it could probably rank above. That's likely impossible though due to how unnatural the Phazon Suit is.
Actually the Fusion versions of Power, Varia and Gravity Suits are weaker than the original suits. That's why on Dread, the Omega Suit has "evolved" to a "normal" Varia Suit. The Light Suit is stronger than the Gravity Suit. The Light Suit has all the benefits of the Gravity Suit + Inmunity to dark atmosphere & Light Teletrasportation. The Phazon Suit requires a Phazon Source to activate the Hyper Mode, While the PED doesn't. So, the PED Suit is better.
Light Suit doesn't innately have the Gravity Suit abilities. That comes from the Gravity Boost found earlier in the game. Without that, the Gravity Suit is better, as that Gravity power is far more usuable than the Light Suit's immunity to the atmosphere of 1 now exterminated planet and teleportation that I'm pretty sure only works on Aether because of the Light of Aether. I'll give you PED > Phazon Suit, but they did bring up how the latters Hyper Beam is possibly stronger, and more importantly, how the suit serves as the base for Dark Samus, who's kinda OP.
@@espurrseyes42 Also funnily enough, neither the light nor dark suit offer additional protection to normal enemy attacks over the varia suit, meaning that Samus would be more durable in the gravity suit outside of the specific conditions of Dark Aether.
@@espurrseyes42 I would like to instigate here as if you use cheat codes, you can actually use the Hyper Beam AS an optional beam. And let's just say it's WAY stronger than PED Hyper, especially on normal enemies (as it did bring down Metroid Prime without a sweat) so I agree, Phazon Suit IS stronger then PED. Even more than the Corrupted PED. 💯🎮
I honestly would've put the initial Fusion Suit from Fusion and Dread between the Zero Suit and basic Power Suit. She loses her defense against cold (yes, I know due to Metroid DNA), and specifically said she was at her most vulnerable in Fusion. She even takes far more damage in it compared to the rest.
@@XeratoneReal Yep. Plus, the Varia suit isn't even consistent. The version Samus gets in II on SR388 gives her the Gravity effect. In Fusion, her recovery of it grants immunity to cold, and the ZDR iteration doesn't. On top of that, Samus' fully-powered suit from Zero Mission is better than the Varia she picks up in Brinstar, not worse over all. First, it's the full true Varia Suit.
@@tallynnyntyg6008 It's just an older model Power Suit. Any power it has is a result of the other upgrades you collected in ZM on top of the 3 Unknown Items that the starting Power Suit wasn't compatible with. On its own, the "Fully Powered Suit" (Legendary Power Suit) is really just a slightly better version of the Power Suit.
Isn't the fully powered suit just samus's regular suit with every power up in the game? I don't get why it needs to be a separate entry, and especially lower than the varia suit. Since the fully powered suit...Has the varia suit already.
It's an older Power Suit that I believe is referred to as The Legendary Power Suit. Aside from being compatible with the 3 originally unknown items in Zero Mission (Plasma Beam, Gravity Suit, and I think Space Jump), there are no functional differences between the suit she started with and the one she got in Chozodia during the Zero Mission part of the game.
@@espurrseyes42 Fair enough. Suppose i just didn't realise they were talking about that one in the video. I was under the impression that they meant that with all the power ups already installed.
@@espurrseyes42 if I could theorize the only functional difference I could think of is higher compatibility with all types of technology. In the rest of the series the Power Suit is compatible with just about everything from any type of tech.
I don't think you understand the difference between the fully powered suit or legendary power suit, the basic power suit, and the varia suit. The basic power suit is yellow with triangular shoulder pauldrons. The varia suit is an upgrade that is compatible with the basic power suit and it's distinguishing feature is the orange color. The fully powered suit is the one with spherical shoulder pauldrons. That's why in Zero Mission there is a fully sprited yellow full power suit with spherical shoulders, even though it's not playable in normal play because collecting it automatically gives you varia. With a rom hack you can play the yellow legendary power suit by turning off the varia suit.
The PED suit could replace the Phazon Suit's placement on the list solely for making Samus invulnerable to most forms of energy damage in Metroid Prime 3 once she enters hypermode. That level of defense is only rivaled by the Metroid suit. The corruption is a blessing & a curse. It extends the period of energy invulnerability until 25 seconds pass (correct me if i am wrong) & allows Samus to keep pumping out extreme phazon-based damage. Being able to enter & deactivate hypermode before corruption takes effect is extremely powerful.
I believe the "Omega Suit" is just the Varia Suit. In Metroid Fusion, Samus took SA-X and that's when her suit became orange and yellow, which are the colors of the Varia Suit. It doesn't make sense to call it the Omega Suit, since she didn't obtain it from the Omega Metroid. And calling it the Omega Suit just because Samus acquires the suit while fighting the Omega Metroid makes about as much sense as calling the Ice Beam the Omega Beam. In Metroid Dread, Samus arrives on ZDR in the Varia Suit. This is confirmed after reobtaining the Varia Suit later in the game.
@@jennytalia6724 There's more than one Varia Suit. In Metroid: Zero Mission, it protects her from extreme heat, but also acid. In Super Metroid, the Varia Suit doesn't protect Samus from acid. In Fusion, it helps protect her from the cold. In Dread, it doesn't protect her from the cold. And Metroid Dread solidifies that the "Omega Suit" is in fact the Varia Suit, because after she fights Raven Beak for the first time, she loses her Varia Suit and gets another one later on, and both have the same appearance.
@@uffevonlauterbach The Acid we see in Super Metroid is just found in Norfair while in Metroid Zero Mission it's found in Brinstar, so I guess we can assume that this is a special type of Acid Lava
@@Darksoals912 In Metroid Fusion, the Galactic Federation uploads weapons that Samus is able to download. Core-X absorbs the Varia Suit from the machine that Samus would've otherwise been able to download. When she defeats the Core-X, it gives Samus the Varia Suit. This version of the Varia Suit came from the Galactic Federation. At the final battle against the Omega Metroid, Samus takes the upgrades from the damaged SA-X. That SA-X is wearing the Varia Suit that it originally obtained from Samus in the beginning of the game, and it has the Ice Beam. That is a second Varia Suit in a single game. There is no Omega Suit, only the Varia Suit.
Can you do PlayStation 1 Villains Evil to most Evil now that you have done PS2, and Nintendo Wii Villains Evil to Most Evil since you did GameCube and N64.
For probably the 30th time, thanks for the videos 1upbinge. But I would absolutely love it if you make these two. Once again, thank you for making the videos for us! As for the cover, this is my example based on my opinion. Heroes: Good: Mario More good: Samus Most good (cover, not literally): Kirby Villains: Dumb: Bowser Smart: Ganondorf Brilliant: Fawful (Side note: I would love it if you included every villain in evil to most evil and weak to powerful list).
A few of my opinions on this ranking: first, I would place the Fusion Suit between Zero and Power. After all, the game itself says that Samus is notably weaker with it, and the SA-X is field-tested proof of my claim. Second, I think the PED suit should be above the Phazon suit, since it has superior offensive and defensive capabilities. Sure, the corrupted Hypermode is a serious double-edged sword, but that's due to Samus's internally generated Phazon. It's clearly relatively safe enough if even the Galactic Federation issues it to their soldiers.
@@flarecthefox6403 I feel like the last version is somehow too dark and too bright. I like the subtlety of the fifty percent version. It feels like what the suit would have been if Samus was able to fully control it and keep it full time.
unfortunately it breaks some of the boss fights if you mod the game to get it at the start. The Kraid fight breaks almost immediatly and the platform drops while Kraid becomes frozen and undamageable. It also can't kill the EMMI and you can't get the omega cannon while wearing the suit.
Not to mention while in the metroid suit her absorbtion ability grew aswell. Previously she could only absorb what she touched, in the metroid suit though while touching raven beak and absorbing him, she also absorbed the energy of the station they where on (wich let to it crashing down, something she seemed to easily brush of)
I've always interpreted the difference between the Power Suit, Fully Powered Suit, and Varia Suit thusly: The Power Suit is Samus' unupgraded, basic Power Suit. It's able to interact with many technologies, Chozo or otherwise, to increase it's toolkit or enhance it's existing abilities. However, the version of the Power Suit in Zero Mission SPECIFICALLY is an older model, not able to interact with newer Chozo modules, and possibly not with any alien tech as well. The Fully Powered Suit IS a normal Power Suit, but a newer version of it. The old Power Suit was destroyed, either completely, or enough that it was basically useless anyway. So the Fully Powered Suit is, on it's own, just another Power Suit at the end of the day, and even should be named as such. The reason it's CALLED the Fully Powered Suit isn't because it's a particularly distinctive suit type (e.g. Gravity, Dark), but because the newer version of the Power Suit reads and loads all of Samus's modules again, INCLUDING the ones her old suit could not, thus it had become fully powered up again. tl;dr: "Fully Powered Suit" just means all your powerups work again, but it's actually a newer Power Suit version. The Varia Suit is actually just a suit type, or upgrade TO a Power Suit. Some versions change the suit's colour only, whereas some add the rounded pauldrons depending on whether the base suit has some already or not. But the Varia Suit is simply an upgrade to a Chozo Power Suit of any kind, not really the proper name for the base technology. Calling what you see Samus wearing the "Varia Suit" would properly refer to her Power Suit (any version) with a Varia Suit upgrade installed and enabled. I know I got overly wordy, but I always feel like I need to be extra clear because I'm usually pretty bad at being clear. DX
The fully powered suit really was just another power suit, one that was capable of actually using the space jump, gravity suit, and plasma beam. Basically, it's the same suit that she's using as her "basic power suit" for the entire rest of the series because there isn't a problem with translation or compatibility.
I'd probably say the PED suit is my favorite overall. Access to hyper mode any time as long as you have an energy tank. Using a pool of phazon to straight up replenish energy fast. When the meter hits red, that may be Samus at risk but I see it more as extra hyper mode time to devastate everything. In terms of aesthetic....blue is my favorite color soooo uh....the suit getting more corrupted looked cool to me.....but definitely terrifying when viewing Samus' face occasionally
As other's have pointed out, the Fusion suit is the power suit with much of the outer armor surgically removed, and is therefore likely weaker, at least at the start of Fusion. After the orange suit was lost at the start of Dread the new blue suit is effectively the same as the Power Suit, having seemingly mostly regenerated in a new reconfigured form, and the Varia and Gravity upgrades had to be re-earned through exploration. Also, the Dark Suit is really only a side grade to the Varia meant to adapt it to the dark world, while the Light Suit is probably on par with the Gravity. Also, you forgot the Phazon suit, unless I just missed it somehow. Which I think may actually offer superior defense to the PED suit, but doesn't have the hyper mode systems. Of course it also doesn't slowly kill its user through corruption so trade offs.
zero suit is the underlying suit that samus can draw her normal suit out of, essentially having a living armor bound to herself. Works on concentration and chozo tech. Mk1 is the basic suit samus gets in the origins manga, not fully powered until she learns how to balance her emotions. fully powered suit(MK2) is after the chozodia trial to replace the mk1 that was damaged in the ship crash. it has the full set of features to enable the use of the unknown items fully powered Power suit is the base suit for the rest of the timeline, featuring high upgradeability. Varia suit is additional armor plating and shield reinforcing in most games for high heat areas. Gravity suit in most games is a module that allows for negative movement effects to be negated+ further shield optimizations for more damage reductions Dark suit is Luminoth gear designed to increase survivability in dark aethers poisonous atmosphere, come with unique plating for more damage reduction. Light suit is a perfect marriage of luminoth and chozo tech that negates ingswarms and D Aether toxins by being infused with the light energy of the planet. Phazon suit is pure corruption from the Omega pirates unique phazon, youll notice samus shimmers lightly after getting this, Metroid prime tears off this layer of corruption along with samus' dna since the armor is a living extension of samus. PED suit is the GF attaching their device + armor to enable it into the suit. Basically samus at her second most powerful state in cannon since you cannot be harmed in hypermode. Hazard suit is some pirate tech that adds a effect to the shield generator to negate extreme acid and fuel gel corrosiveness. Fusion suit is the mk2 suit with a tremendous amount of the chozo original armour ripped off as its been contaminated by x parasite infection. The parts sent to BSL form into the SA-X. Functionally its the weakest and lightest suit ever worn. Samus takes an extreme amount of damage here now. Can only absorb the X and not siphon energy from other living things. Fusion Varia is a data upload that reconfigures the shields of the suit to take high temps, protects from cold still since the metroid dna is fresh in samus. Fusion gravity is yet another data upload that enables the module in the suit and improves shielding again. "omega" suit is the Core X of the SA-X, that X having her original DNA profile pushes her genetic makeup a little more towards what it was, allowing for the Ice beam to work for the Omega metroid fight. Dread suit is the living parts of the suit and the mechanical parts working together to repair the suit damage inflicted by the surgery. Dread Power suit( the blue one) is the base form but allows for siphoning energy via a touch, the start of the Metroid DNA growing in power Dread Varia works the same as it normally does but with a twist being no cold areas. Dread gravity is the 2nd layer of shield improvements that allow for cold areas since the metroid dna is becoming more prominent in samus Metroid suit is samus at her most powerful form ever, a Metroid, the perfect predator and the only thing capable of Consuming the Parasite that threatens the universe, it has a default weapon in the hyper beam, fueled by all the stuff samus was absorbing all game and raven beaks energy, even touching the suit would instantly drain living or mechanical things of energy. Quiet bird-X had to let himself be absorbed to suppress the Metroid DNA this suit manifested from. In order from weakest to most powerful it would be more like Zero suit, no armor. Fusion suit, fresh out of surgery with only 10% original battle strength. Basically only the lifesupport and thin plates as protection. MK2 full upgraded suit, has heavy reinforcing plates. Light suit, negates all dark aether toxins and repels ingswarm with Pure light energy. Phazon suit, Volatile phazon corruption gives you the basic phazon infused beam attack but needs very pure phazon to fire. PED Suit, Enter hypermode to become invincible and fire super powerful phazon based attacks. Metroid Suit, become the Apex predator of the Universe ending Threat known as the X. Full energy manipulation and instant draining of any lifeform that touches you, can even pull from machines. Has the hyperbeam(and its actually a Beam unlike the Super metroid rainbow shooter) as its default weapon. thats how I would rank the suits. you ever realize that samus is a living bioweapon now?
The way I viewed fusion suit and dread suits, and was kinda touched on here, given the biological integration Fusion stated that the power suit had with Samus, even if she's able to completely remove it otherwise, I see the fusion suit as sort of an open wound. The bulky metal was removed, leaving the fleshy bits open and exposed. Dread, the suit showing signs of being more metal again could be the og power suit "healing". The blue "power suit" version after the game's intro cinematic lacks more of the cover the orange "varia suit" version had, and as she gets the varia and later the gravity upgrades, more of the suit begins being covered by plating. The almost wrapped look on the hands, forearms, and elbows gets covered with orange plating, the whites on the knees are now uniform to the rest of the legs, and the more flesh looking bits on the shoulders get covered more. Moving to the gravity version, covering more of the shoulder pads as well as the thighs.
While the Fusion Suit does have the benefit of eating those flying gummis, the Fusion Suit 2.0 is more defensive and could be considered a separate entry with the former being weaker than the Gravity Suit.
Favorite is probably the light suit for it's sleek lines and it just looks cool, unforunate that I dont' love metroid prime 2 more, but hey was a great reward for playing far enough into the game and carried me through.
Pretty great list, my favourite has to be the Light Suit. The design is really sleek and getting the freedom to move around Dark Aether and properly take the fight to the Ing was fantastic. It's a shame you get it so late in the game, but it makes sense why.
So in terms of ranking, some of this is decent. But a lot of the suits aren't really that different. Personally, as an avid Metroid fan, I'd rate the zero suit at the bottom yes. Fusion suit just above that as it's essentially just the zero suit with a bit more armor, sealed internals, and her arm cannon. From there, the Dread suit 'then' the power suit. The dreads suit is the fusion suit in mid auto-repair (which is a function it has, as the suit is biologically attached to Samus when worn, otherwise the original power suit wouldn't have had to be surgically removed when she was infected by the X) And the "fully powered suit" isn't a suit on it's own. so much as her original suit with an Operating system update to handle Mawkin tech as opposed to repurposed Thorha. From there, we have the PED suit, which was made from a stripped down Varia suit, while powerful it had drawbacks in that it couldn't handle acid rain (arguably federation tech being inferior as the varia suit from Zero mission 'could' handle being submerged in acid) Followed by the Varia suit itself. From Varia, The dark and light suits follow in that order, as they simply upgrade and streamline, but don't provide any additional mobility like the gravity suit does, Which comes after. Phazon suit is only slightly stronger than gravity due to Phazon infusion without it requiring modification. The final dread suit is an arguable suit. As it's not really a suit in itself, so much as it's simply another version of Hyper mode. Only running off of Samus' metroid dna as opposed to using lingering traces of the baby. So with that. We have: Zero Fusion Dread Power PED Varia Dark Light Gravity Phazon Of course, in regards to fusion/dread suits. their varia/gravity/hyper versions are only a tier higher than their baseline version. So Fusion Gravity is equal to the Power suit as an example. of defensive shielding. While the Omega would be equal to the Varia. as for dread. Dread Varia is equal to the PED suit, while Gravity would be closer to the light suit. Base gravity suit is still overall the strongest without shenanigans being involved. only losing out to other suits version of gravity in mobility options.
Amazing top tbh but here is mine from worst to best: -Zero Suit (aka sexy suit samus) -Power Suit (basic suit) -Hazard Shield Suit (Usefull but nothing more) -Fusion Suit (Power suit but innmune to x) -Justin Bailey Suit (Pack a punched zero suit) -Varia Suit (Iconic and usefull against extreme temperatures) -Dark Suit (Great against poison but nothing more) -Fully Power Suit (Pack a punched power suit) -Gravity Suit (Iconic and more usefull) -Omega Suit (Pack a punched fusion suit) -Light Suit (Amazing against poison and usefull for fast traveling) -P.E.D. As someone who never played the 3D Metroid games, The Fusion Suit was best, strictly by cosmetic appeal 😂 but this was a great video really learned a lot.
You didnt metion my favortie suit the upgrade to the ped suit known as the Hazzard shield which gives a large ammont of damage reduction and immunity to acid and fuel gel (the lava of the game) it replaces your bowling ball sholders with blue hexgon force fields and shows a really cool particle effect when walking through acid rain. Maybe biased but i think this is probably her second strongest suit and makes the game a cake walk for back tracking to nab any upgrades you missed.
Pretty good tierlist, but ima post my own in comments. This one I’m making based on the defensive capabilities of the suits, cause they’re the suits, along with they’re adaptability. I decided to exclude the omega suit cause it’s one of the upgrades of the fusion suit. From weakest to strongest: 1. The zero suit 2. Power suit 3. Varia/Barrier suit 4. Gravity effect (other m) 5. Gravity suit 6. Fusion suit 7. Dark suit 8. Light suit 9. PED/Phazon suit 10. Metroid suit If anyone wants to hear any explanations for where I placed certain things, just ask in the replies. I’m open to discussion.
I would argue the Fusion suit ranks below the Power suit. The Fusion suit is essentially a stripped down Power suit, which is itself a stripped down Varia suit. The only real advantage the suit itself provides is less weight, which comes at the cost of massively reduced protection.
@@calsalitra4689 I had rated the fusion suit above the power through gravity suits because of its adaptability, which is a quirk from before that I mentioned. The power suit, varia suit, and gravity suit are all separate pieces, with the varia and gravity suits usually being able to be grabbed in whichever order you want, while the fusion suit has them as effects rather than full suit upgrades. The varia and gravity parts of the fusion suits are added effects, so it’s still the fusion suit by the end. The short version is that for my version of the list, I basically considered the fusion suit at its highest point, the omega suit, or at the very least, with the gravity effect and cosmetic.
@@EmperorOfApathy Was the Fusion suits ability to download new abilities ever mentioned as something unique to the Fusion suit? It's been a while since I played Fusion.
@@calsalitra4689 Yes. The download quirk of the suit was specifically for fusion. To add to why I put the fusion suit so high, remember dread. The fusion suit eventually becomes the metroid suit due to the metroid dna fused into both samus and her suit.
Let's her eat X to gain health/missiles and even powers, and later extends to being able to eat other stuff for their powers. Yeah, that's more her Metroid DNA from the Vaccine, but I'm pretty sure said vaccine (on top of the surgery) created the suit, so I think it's fair to count those powers to the Fusion Suit since it and the vaccine are linked. Also said Fusion Suit/Metroid DNA starts activating its true power in Dread, allowing Samus to drain other lifeforms for energy and powers, eventually evolving into the Metroid Suit. I'd say that alone is enough to put it as her second strongest suit. It might've been weak at the start, but what Samus ended up with in the long run was worth the loss of armor (up until Dread where it started repairing).
1upBinge: total invincibility that makes us feel confutable making the metroid suit the best suit samus has me: there is a reason you only get it for the escape sequence
Fusion Suit has a useful power while the Dark/Light Suits are literally useless since Dark Aether was destroyed (and the one thing the Light Suit could do outside there is still restricted to regular Aether). Yeah, that's more the Metroid Vaccine and not the Suit, but I'm pretty sure the Fusion Suit was created as a result of the surgery and the Vaccine. The suit is implicitly if not explicitly linked to the Vaccine, so I think it's fair to take those powers into account.
Metroid Primes 4 if or when it does come out the Metroid Suit may be a big factor into its reveal as well. Since for some reason the most powerful Suit Samus is able to Acquire. Though the Metroid Suit is also something when she loses her temper. When she loses her focus on keeping her protective barrier using different Variety she becomes a leech Metroid. We also have to consider about the Creature Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime is in it's nature a "Baby" Form or Child form of a lot more powerful Metroid. The different type of Metroids we know so far are Phazon Metroid, the Miniroid, the Hopping Metroid and the Metroid Hatcher as well Metroid Prime. Dark Samus is technically Reborn as Metroid Prime or known as the Queen of Metroids. Theory states that Queen Metroid will be in Metroid prime 4. As only a theory.
1) Zss is still a formidable foe. The Chozo DNA (Mawkin Tribe) made her super human. She’s essentially the fastest and strongest human being. She simply lacks the armor (defense) and fire power (offense). 2) The Fusion Suit is probably as good as the Power Suit. Samus is weakened and you can see it in the way the sprite is moving. She struggles to breath. She’s ill and only recovering thanks to the vaccine. 3) Her Metroid Suit is speculated to be at a lower stage in the metamorphosis of Metroid Evolution. You can see the red dots on her boosts which resemble the amount of “eyes” the Metroids have at any given stage. * As far as suits go, they’re really only tiers between upgrades if you think about it. For example, the Power Suit only becomes the Varia Suit when she has the ability to resist extreme temperatures. Then the Varia Suit becomes the Gravity Suit only when she obtains the ability to move freely in certain settings- but there were so many upgrades in between that were nudging the suits from suit to suit. * You included a non-canon Suit but not Smash Zss? 😭 Foul. * There was more I wanted to say, but I forgot :( Long live Metroid!
huh? Vaira is better than the full-powered?? the varia or Barrier sports only enhanced shields and extreme temperature resistance, but when combined with the Gravity suit gets even better defenses and the like, but the gravity on its own has great defenses but only really modifies the gravity around the wearer.
You included the NES Metroid's new game plus version of the Varia Suit as the "Justin Bailey Suit", but you didn't include the Power Suit version. It's functionally the same as the Power Suit, but without the suit and with a different hair color from the "Justin Bailey Suit". Brunette = Power Suit, Green hair = Varia Suit, & Blonde = Missiles equipped (in either version).

I would put the Fusion suit nearest to the power suit or even lower because you take even more damage than with the Power suit. And the Omega suit is almost comparable to the Varia suit, you stop to recieve so much damage and regain the resistance to the cold
I cant remember. Doesnt samus' suit universally accept most technology? And if i remember correctly the light suit was given to her by the luminoth by infusing with the light from their central unit or whatever it was called so that she could complete her mission. And after defeating the ing she returned the light suit tech. Meaning it cant return in other installments?
Yea, the original Powet Suit (beginning of Zero Mission) had incompatibility with some upgrades outside a few, but at the end of ZM she obtains a Legendary Power Suit (something I theorize to be a Mawkin artifact, mostly because of its more battle oriented capability and the rounded shoulder pads) which can take tech from nearly anything. Samus Returns and Dread have entire sub upgrades called Aeion and her suit creates its own compatibility with those upgrades. Also in Dread the Omega Cannon is a temp upgrade by touching dead Central Units, or old upgrades are obtained by touching dead EMMI (Galactic Federation tech? Interesting to see they have their own speed booster lol, guess they took notes from Samus). This was a ramble, my bad, but your question was super interesting.
and AFAIK if Samus loses or relinquishes any suit technology (apart from Other M but yk, its Other M) she can't get it back unless she grabs a new one again. This was even in the original NES metroid; since there was no beam stacking youd need to return to an old Chozo statue every time you wanna trade out beams.
The phazon suit from prime 1 was def my fav suit for sure! and putting the fusion suit over the Fully powered suit seemed incorrect to me, the fusion suit was trash until you get it upgraded from the SA-X
Here's a question: Let's say Samus never went to Aether in MP2:E, but later on destroys Phaaze. Don't worry about story implications like whether or not Dark Samus would be more powerful or something, I'm asking a hypothetical. In this alternate timeline, if Phaaze is destroyed, does that then destroy Dark Aether? And if so, then does that mean the planetary energy stolen from regular Aether is gone with it? Further, if it *doesn't* destroy Dark Aether, then that means the Ing could exist on other planets where Leviathan seeds crashed in such a way it created a dimensional flux like the rare case of Aether, thus proving that the Ing could easily come back as an enemy in the Metroid universe. Maybe the Ing traveled to other planets in the Dark Aether variant of the universe and are coming to take the world of light where light technology is prevalent (consider other worlds touched by the Chozo, or creatures that generally discover light tech).
Dark Aether is a byproduct of the Leviathan crash interacting with the Light of Aether, with Phazon and the Seed having little to do with it besides hitting the planet. With Phaaze's destruction, the Phazon would be gone, but I doubt that'd affect Dark Aether beyond ridding it of Phazon energy that the Ing didn't really use outside of the Emperor, making it weaker. Not that it'd matter since the Luminoth couldn't get past the regular ones.
The functions of the Light and Dark Suit are literally useless since Dark Aether was destroyed. And unless you're on Aether, which has the "Light of Aether", the Light teleportation of the Light Suit is also useless.
I really wanted her to become an all powerful metroid goddess sort of thing so she could become the villain of a game, but now I think I like her as the heroine

You just said, "a friend of Samus allows Samus to absorb him," with almost no context.
I personally thought her Phazon Suit was her coolest suit, with the Gravity Suit ranked a close second. That said I actually thought her Metroid Suit was ugly though😂
Dark suit should be on par with the gravity suit and PED suit, as they are all upgrades to varia suit, while light suit should be on par with phazon suit and hazard shield, all of which should be ranked above the gravity suit. I'd put the Metroid suit next to those actually, not above them, but I can at least understand an argument for giving it the top spot. Fusion suit should be below basic power suit, while Dread suit should be between them or on par with the power suit. Interesting video topic though.
The fully powered suit is the varia suit. Why would you consider them different? And the Justin Bailey suit doesn't count. It's not canon and is just an aesthetic change

I felt like, in context to gameplay, the fusion suit was far weaker than other suits were. The mobility was definitely a plus, but I weigh that as not being quite as valuable as being able to take hits. Pre-Fusion/Dread Samus is noticeably tankier
I would put it above the fully powered suit, but nothing else.
Fusion suit is the weakest suit, second only to zero suit. This is because it has almost no armour. This is also why Samus is way less tanky
Its one of the main plot-points how Samus in her Fusion Suit is weaker then ever this whole list is questionable
@@MorganSaph 1
*regains
"Thoha genes given to her by Gray Voice"? I thought that was from Quiet Rhobe.
@@bravewater5737
If Quiet Robe was the guy from Dread that got killed off shortly after his introduction, nope. I don't think he had anything to do with Samus. Aside from giving her *more* Thoha genes as part of the X that copied him getting absorbed into her to quell her Metroid Suit so she could use her ship and escape ZDR.

The Metroid Suit moment in Dread is absolutely amazing.
A year late but who cares,
I had the same issue with the Varia suit, but I got over it a different way.
It’s ledge grab.
Fusions suit is just a modified version of the Mark 2 suit, she never lost it.
@@PinkP0nyPr0ducti0n5 Can you link a video with this? Not because I don't believe you, but because I'm interested as hell in what the base Power Suit looks like in Mk. 2 Mode.
@@thomashost272 It looks the same as the Mk 1 suit. It's in Metroid Prime.
The Mk. 2 Suit is actually integrated with her body, which is why it regenerates and can be upgraded by absorbing X, which are purely organic
Technically wouldn't the Zero Suit be Samus at her weakest?
@@revolvingworld2676 almost. The situation that lead to her having the fusion suit caused her to be so much weaker to certain things, such as the cold, and inability to use the Ice Beam under any circumstances, that the Fusion Suit is weaker than her Zero Suit, because when she had the Zero Suit, she didn't have the weaknesses the has with the Fusion Suit.
@@volcanolord100
Good point. And yeah they both have crappy defense. But I think the greater attack power slightly pushes it above Zero Suit for me.
@@revolvingworld2676 Yeah, I don't have an opinion on it. I've only actually ever beaten fusion, dread, and the ds remake of 2, so i dont actually know how it works. What i know just comes from videos and lore pieces I come across.
@@volcanolord100
All you need to know is that cold weakness aside, Fusion Suit is MAD durable compared to Zero Suit, which loses a WHOLE E-Tank to a pirate attacks during that segment of Zero Mission.
@@ChozoArtifact I'm obviously not talking about in canon Phazon is gone.
Not completely invulnerable. There's at least some attacks that can damage or even one shot kill her even while in Hyper Mode.
The PED uses the phazon radiaton generated by the user or phazon container in the case of the troopers
@@espurrseyes42 Also funnily enough, neither the light nor dark suit offer additional protection to normal enemy attacks over the varia suit, meaning that Samus would be more durable in the gravity suit outside of the specific conditions of Dark Aether.
@@thrasher698
Which doesn't exist since Samus blew it up. So those suits don't even have that as an advantage anymore.
And also the suit has nothing to do with the absorption of X like the video implies.
@@tallynnyntyg6008
It's just an older model Power Suit. Any power it has is a result of the other upgrades you collected in ZM on top of the 3 Unknown Items that the starting Power Suit wasn't compatible with. On its own, the "Fully Powered Suit" (Legendary Power Suit) is really just a slightly better version of the Power Suit.
Just from a looks perspective, the light suit has always been my favorite
Phazon Suit, then Light for me.
10:51 Samus clearly dons the *varia suit* in the "opening part of the story"
I believe the "Omega Suit" is just the Varia Suit. In Metroid Fusion, Samus took SA-X and that's when her suit became orange and yellow, which are the colors of the Varia Suit. It doesn't make sense to call it the Omega Suit, since she didn't obtain it from the Omega Metroid. And calling it the Omega Suit just because Samus acquires the suit while fighting the Omega Metroid makes about as much sense as calling the Ice Beam the Omega Beam. In Metroid Dread, Samus arrives on ZDR in the Varia Suit. This is confirmed after reobtaining the Varia Suit later in the game.
but i think she gets the varia earlier in the game, so it's not the varia. And that's just what happens when you make fans come up with the name.
@@jennytalia6724 There's more than one Varia Suit. In Metroid: Zero Mission, it protects her from extreme heat, but also acid. In Super Metroid, the Varia Suit doesn't protect Samus from acid.
Purely for looks, I’d say the 50 percent corrupted PED suit is my favorite.
That's unusual

Fusion suit is literally the weakest form Samus's power suit has ever had, they make that pretty explicit at the beginning of metroid fusion
Not to mention while in the metroid suit her absorbtion ability grew aswell. Previously she could only absorb what she touched, in the metroid suit though while touching raven beak and absorbing him, she also absorbed the energy of the station they where on (wich let to it crashing down, something she seemed to easily brush of)
as addition to the PED Suit/Gravity Suit, there is the hazard shield in MP 3 to gain access to oil/lava and that also lowers enemy dmg
The blur in the Fusion gameplay is really pretty where can I get this feature?
Still wondering how they did that
I've always interpreted the difference between the Power Suit, Fully Powered Suit, and Varia Suit thusly:
The Power Suit is Samus' unupgraded, basic Power Suit.
When are u gonna do Mother 3 characters Good to Evil
Yeah
Mk1 is the basic suit samus gets in the origins manga, not fully powered until she learns how to balance her emotions.
fully powered suit(MK2) is after the chozodia trial to replace the mk1 that was damaged in the ship crash. it has the full set of features to enable the use of the unknown items
fully powered Power suit is the base suit for the rest of the timeline, featuring high upgradeability.
Varia suit is additional armor plating and shield reinforcing in most games for high heat areas.
Gravity suit in most games is a module that allows for negative movement effects to be negated+ further shield optimizations for more damage reductions
Dark suit is Luminoth gear designed to increase survivability in dark aethers poisonous atmosphere, come with unique plating for more damage reduction.
Dread Power suit( the blue one) is the base form but allows for siphoning energy via a touch, the start of the Metroid DNA growing in power
Dread Varia works the same as it normally does but with a twist being no cold areas.
Dread gravity is the 2nd layer of shield improvements that allow for cold areas since the metroid dna is becoming more prominent in samus
Metroid suit is samus at her most powerful form ever, a Metroid, the perfect predator and the only thing capable of Consuming the Parasite that threatens the universe, it has a default weapon in the hyper beam, fueled by all the stuff samus was absorbing all game and raven beaks energy, even touching the suit would instantly drain living or mechanical things of energy. Quiet bird-X had to let himself be absorbed to suppress the Metroid DNA this suit manifested from.
In order from weakest to most powerful it would be more like
Zero suit, no armor.
Moving to the gravity version, covering more of the shoulder pads as well as the thighs.
both gravity suits from samus returns and dread, i love the lighting mercury stream uses in those games
I remember the shere 'awe' I was in when I first seen the Phazon suit. Totally unexpected badassary was displayed on my Trinitron.
A little something to know is that you can pause during the self destruct part to see the descriptions of the hyper beam and suit.
Nintendo Heroes good to most heroic 😇👼
Why and how your metroid fusion gameplay has this "neon" effect ?
PED and Metroid Suit are EASILY the MOST powerful suits.
Love these 😁😁😁
After watching the video and reading the comments, "suit" doesn't even sound like a word anymore lol.
Agreed it just looks weird now
While the Fusion Suit does have the benefit of eating those flying gummis, the Fusion Suit 2.0 is more defensive and could be considered a separate entry with the former being weaker than the Gravity Suit.
Favorite is probably the light suit for it's sleek lines and it just looks cool, unforunate that I dont' love metroid prime 2 more, but hey was a great reward for playing far enough into the game and carried me through.
Rankea todas las mejoras de sqmus con trajes y abarcando otros franquicias
We have:
Zero
Fusion
Dread
Power
PED
Varia
Dark
Light
Gravity
Phazon
Of course, in regards to fusion/dread suits. their varia/gravity/hyper versions are only a tier higher than their baseline version. So Fusion Gravity is equal to the Power suit as an example. of defensive shielding. While the Omega would be equal to the Varia. as for dread. Dread Varia is equal to the PED suit, while Gravity would be closer to the light suit. Base gravity suit is still overall the strongest without shenanigans being involved. only losing out to other suits version of gravity in mobility options.
metroid: the story of the galaxy's biggest u-turn
Amazing top tbh but here is mine from worst to best:
-Zero Suit (aka sexy suit samus)
-Power Suit (basic suit)
-Hazard Shield Suit (Usefull but nothing more)
-Fusion Suit (Power suit but innmune to x)
-Justin Bailey Suit (Pack a punched zero suit)
-Varia Suit (Iconic and usefull against extreme temperatures)
-Dark Suit (Great against poison but nothing more)
-Fully Power Suit (Pack a punched power suit)
-Gravity Suit (Iconic and more usefull)
-Omega Suit (Pack a punched fusion suit)
-Light Suit (Amazing against poison and usefull for fast traveling)
-P.E.D. Suit (Hypermode cheese suit)
-Phazon Suit (Dark Samus suit)
-Metroid Suit (The GOAT, OP suit)
The fusion suit doesn’t make her immune to x the metroid vaccine does that. Fusion suit is literally the power suit with most components tore off
As someone who never played the 3D Metroid games, The Fusion Suit was best, strictly by cosmetic appeal 😂 but this was a great video really learned a lot.
Hello 1up bing just 2 requests: Undertale characters: good to evil
Undertale Characters: weak to powerful
(Samus literally becomes a Metroid) the fan base: it’s happened it’s finally happened, you have become the title character
Can you do Metroid villains evil to most evil
Good idea 👍
Simple Evil Ridley the most evil still Ridley. That way we get so much satisfaction when we beat the crap out of him .
The dread suit progression was probably the best visually/strength in any metroid game to date. Looking forward to Prime 4.
Pretty good tierlist, but ima post my own in comments. This one I’m making based on the defensive capabilities of the suits, cause they’re the suits, along with they’re adaptability. I decided to exclude the omega suit cause it’s one of the upgrades of the fusion suit.
From weakest to strongest:
1. The zero suit
2. Power suit
3. Varia/Barrier suit
4. Gravity effect (other m)
5. Gravity suit
6. Fusion suit
7. Dark suit
8. Light suit
9. PED/Phazon suit
10. Metroid suit
If anyone wants to hear any explanations for where I placed certain things, just ask in the replies.
Goofy aahhh list
@@EmperorOfApathy Was the Fusion suits ability to download new abilities ever mentioned as something unique to the Fusion suit? It's been a while since I played Fusion.
@@calsalitra4689 Yes. The download quirk of the suit was specifically for fusion. To add to why I put the fusion suit so high, remember dread. The fusion suit eventually becomes the metroid suit due to the metroid dna fused into both samus and her suit.
My guy deserves way more subscribers 😭😭
forgot to mention her hyper beam while on the Metroid suit kills and drains at the same time.
Why is Fusion suit so high if it makes Samus weaker despite better mobility?
1upBinge: total invincibility that makes us feel confutable making the metroid suit the best suit samus has
me: there is a reason you only get it for the escape sequence
Anyone know what the shader preset was fusion the fusion gameplay.
why exactlg is the fusion suit above the dark/light suit? its just a broken power/maybe varia suit
What version of Metroid Fusion was at because the graphics have been updated
What is that Zero Suit footage?
huh? Vaira is better than the full-powered?? the varia or Barrier sports only enhanced shields and extreme temperature resistance, but when combined with the Gravity suit gets even better defenses and the like, but the gravity on its own has great defenses but only really modifies the gravity around the wearer.
I always thought the Phazon Enhancement Suit was the best till the metroid suit came along

Also, speaking of which, what disqualified the Power Suit in Metroid Dread?
Its the same as every other power suit
@@maksimd764 I'd argue it's closer to the Fusion suit than the original Orange power suit in some aspects
@@seroujghazarian6343 yes but theyre still functionally the same
Here's a question: Let's say Samus never went to Aether in MP2:E, but later on destroys Phaaze.
Just to summarize what you got wrong from the comments:
Fusion suit is weaker than the power suit.
The functions of the Light and Dark Suit are literally useless since Dark Aether was destroyed. And unless you're on Aether, which has the "Light of Aether", the Light teleportation of the Light Suit is also useless.
Make kid icarus characters good to evil
Anyone know where I can get that fusion mod?
Talks about the power suit and only shows mostly the varia suit. 👌
Wow The lighting effect in the fusion gameplay, did you or is it some mod?
Looks great
I just want Samus to become the Mother brain And control the Metroid
I really wanted her to become an all powerful metroid goddess sort of thing so she could become the villain of a game, but now I think I like her as the heroine
You just said, "a friend of Samus allows Samus to absorb him," with almost no context.
Ain’t gone hold u, I just bought MP remastered and now I want MD all over again I never beat it and that Metroid suit is swwwwweeeeeeettttt
Varia suit higher than zero mission's gravity suit? Huh??
That's what I'm saying. This is the wildest video I've seen.
Glad to see the Phazon Suit at number two! Undoubtedly her coolest suit aesthetically. At least until the Metroid Suit...
I personally thought her Phazon Suit was her coolest suit, with the Gravity Suit ranked a close second. That said I actually thought her Metroid Suit was ugly though😂

Ratchet and clank weapons: weak to powerful
11:52 It's her becoming corrupt, not the suit. The suit extract phazon from her body so she doesnt get corrupt and has no downside.
Actually the Fully Powered Suit is the Gravity Suit.
@@drjoekerr8529 well yeah but either way it's not a separate suit from the typical gravity suit
