- Samus has always been known to have access to a variety of different weapons, and in this video we look through her extensive arsenal to see what special abilities each upgrade grants her with.

I wanted to bring mention to some power ups I forgot to mention in the video.
-Difussion Missiles in Metroid Fusion increase the freezing radius of your missiles
-Hyper Ball in Prime 3 allows the Morph Ball to expel of rays Phazon
-Hyper Missiles in Prime 3 are basically super fast Phazon Super Missiles
-Hyper Grapple in Prime 3 is just basically the Grapple Voltage... but with Phazon
-Gravity Boost in Prime 2 basically allows Samus hover under water (I covered this in the Armors video because it felt more as an upgrade tied only to her armor and functions as a Gravity Suit)
Apologies for not talking about these items, sometimes one can forget to add things into the script.
The Orpheon The Diffusion missiles are my fav upgrade in Fusion... Idk why though....
But what about Multi-ball from Prime Pinball [and all the existential questions that would result from that game being made cannon.]

Yes, the "difficulty" space pirates had recreating the morph ball. I will never forget that log entry in Metroid Prime when they gave up after making space pirate distorted pretzels. Morbid humor at its finest
Well the Space Pirates are assholes anyway so it's more like "HA! Karma!"
For me it's Prime 2's log found in the Pirate base in Agon Wastes

There's a scan that says something like "a Pirate was disciplined for his use of a Metroid for target practice" and a Metroid in a container's scan says "It appears to have consumed an excessive amount of pet treats". Also, if Metroids aren't pets, someone has to tell Samus.
Zerethos 2 There was also a log in Prime 1 threatening death for any Space Pirates with pets

She keeps the Long Beam, as her nightlight warding away the spooky things at the edge of the screen.
A Pure Lucario No, I mean not even full upgrade resets not necessarily triggered by Samus (like in Prime) wipe the Long Beam. Samus has hard-coded that beam into her system.

It warms my heart when I find a creator who uses Custom Robo music in their videos.
Honestly, the power grip kinda makes sense. In water the suit straight-up sinks, so its gotta be heavy. It really doesn't scream "robot ninja". I could be ABSOLUTELY retarded and be wrong but, eh, ITS MY OPINION DAMMIT

And in Fusion/Dread, where her suit is significantly lighter, she doesn't need the upgrade

I will always remember that the annihilator beam was changed to "eclipse beam" in the Italian version that I played of Echoes. It made the thing sound cooler, in my opinion.
Also more on theme with the light vs. dark theming.
That is a far more superior name for a beam consisting of both light and dark.

I love your chibi art, especially how expressive they are. I also liked how many different forms of Ridley you showed.
The Spider Ball from Metroid II was definitely the power-up that drew me into the world the most. It's slow and contemplative, which suits the atmosphere, and leaves Samus vulnerable to attack (and thus at risk of falling). The award for cutest power-up goes to the Morph Ball. The most overpowered power-up is the Charge Beam, which unbalanced Super Metroid somewhat by making Missiles redundant in combat. Shout out also to the Space Jump for being such a cool concept.
The speed booster is my favorite powerup. It's like a generic superpower, but also more badass.

i like ot mention some people think the morphball is a substitute for crawling but really i doubt crawling in a suit like samus's is simple and the holes seen in prime are small, plus samus can go forward and backwards in the morphball without inpeded movement
but hte power grip, well heavy armor i guess, and she loses that before metroid 2.....well lets consider the remakes cannon so she loses it before super metroid and fusion her suit is lighter
in a concept of using energy as a projectile that is a case of either you are using an energy cartridge or overall unlimited shots but this is chozo tech, and if you try to bring up prime 2 those weapons are lunamoth tech and were still a work in progress as according to lunamoth's lore that the dark and light beams are useful yet work in progress, but shame not getting all ammo expansion doesnt give you unlimited shots
She was initially planned to crawl, but in 1986 it'd be too hard to animate and then later on they went off it being a ball.
How convenient for this video to come out after I started playing Metroid Prime. Coincidence? Who knows...

I may have an explanation as to why the Ice Beam freezes enemies in midair, cold temperatures are just heat escaping the area (the "area" in this case is the enemy), and if heat is radiating downwards then theoretically wth a lot of video game logic, it would keep enemies from falling.
This makes the least sense to the point where it does make sense.
Yeah, it's really just riding off what I've learned off the holy ancient texts of video game logic.
Metroid is a series that doesn't get enough recognition on TH-cam I'm happy to see that your channel is all about it that's why I'm subscribing today!!

Remember the wave beam and Spazer are different in attacking too. The Spazer if one of the beams hit all 3 will. But the Wide beam Carries on if one of it's "circles" hits something to potentially hit more enemies at once
You forgot to mention that the spiderball let's you climb almost *any* surface in Return of Samus/Samus Returns. That is when the spiderball was at it's best.
Except for the weird, sticky ones in SR.

This is two years late, but the most iconic thing in her arsenal, to me, aside from her viara suit\power suit, is her screw attack, as it is the franchise logo\emblem.

I like to collect stuff from Metroid, Godzilla, the Fantastic Four and Crash Bandicoot.
But since i’m not 18 years old, i still can’t buy on online store, so i mostly pick what i see on retail stores.
When it comes to Metroid, i have all the amiibos (not counting Ridley, but i will buy it at launch), an official Samus Returns poster and the Prime Varia suit from Jakks Paciffic.
Of course, i’m limited since i live in an island , but i keep making my collection bigger whenever i see something that i don’t have in some stores.

You forgot the diffusion missle upgrade in fusion. That's the one where when you charge your missile and release it's sends out a freezing circle of ice. Useful for when you have a lot of enemies or just something you need to freeze that is out of reach. But otherwise I loved the video man. I love Metroid so watching these videos and seeing other fans is always entertaining

Spoiler for the trailer and treehouse gameplay of. Metroid Dread!
In the trailer we see the first E.M.M.I (not broken) can climb any wall and after you kill it you’ll probably get the spider grip thingy that makes you able to climb blue surfaces. The green boy (second emmi) can crawl into small spaces, you’ll probably get the morph ball from it !
Another Emmi from the trailer (the yellow boy) seems to be able to run around at the speed of sound, and you guessed it ! You’ll getthe Speed booster from it !!
I’m sooo hyped for the speed booster in Metroid Dread !!

A youtuber by the name of AnthonysCustoms has been working on manufacturing some extra items for the Metroid Figmas. They're not specifically MP3 items, but it's still worth checking out. From one figure collecting Metroid fan to another, I highly recommend.

I enjoy how you added Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Starforce music.
I know you've looked through Samus' armors in a different video, but not including them to make a complete package seems off.
I'd say that my favorite item in Metroid is also the most underrated, the Ice Beam. It's usually one of Samus' first upgrades and gives her the ability to freeze enemies on contact. That's a very powerful ability and a lot of people take it for granted just because it can't kill enemies in one hit. My next favorite power up has to be the Screw Attack, you feel like a God when you use it and signifies that Samus has most if not all of her abilities by that point in the game.
The Accursed Hunter01 ice beam + missiles it's my favorite combination
I honestly was never a huge fan of the Ice Beam in the 2D games, I never liked how it took an extra shot to kill an enemy and I always turned it off in Super Metroid unless I needed it. That being said, AM2R's take on the Ice Beam is one of my favourite upgrades in any Metroid game, it's so satisfying to use and actually kills enemies faster.
Okay so I've only beaten one game that had them in it and that was just a few days ago but I LOVE the Space Jump and Screw Attack. Also that game was Samus Returns and I don't really care for the Varia Suit's design in that game (specifically the pauldrons, they look like cracked open coconuts) so I was overjoyed to finally get the Gravity Suit that looks way cooler.
@Wilson Nascimento I know, but the Ice Beam in Super at the very least means you can't one shot enemies when you have the Wave and Plasma Beam.

Maybe you already knew, but did you know that Nintendo didn't really know what the term bounty hunter meant when they decided that that's what Samus would be? Likely because of Star Wars' Boba Fett, who was known as a bounty hunter, they thought it just meant maybe more of a mercenary, or a ,"cool space warrior". This was discovered when they were appalled at the idea pitched by Retro Studios for Samus to actually hunt people/aliens and collect bounties.
"We were looking for something more along the lines of a mission-based game where Samus collected bounties. And for the life of us we couldn't understand why [Nintendo was] being so resistive to that concept. And then over the period of days we came to understand that their definition of a bounty hunter is not a bounty hunter. It is not someone who brings in bad guys for money. That concept was completely outside of their definition." -Bryan Walker, IGN interview with Retro Studios about the development of Metroid Prime 2, 3, and Trilogy.

The wide beam has different properties to the Spazer as Spazer will stop if it hits an enemy where the 3 shots of the wide beam have their own hit boxes. Great video tho love your content so far!
