While I still love 40K I've actually kind of fully moved on to Japanese model kits (Bandai and Kotobukiya stuff). As someone who very much has fallen for the plastic crack in a big way, I really enjoyed this simple introduction to our weird little hobby. I think people are sometimes scared off by the exclusivity of the hobby and have no idea what it’s all about or how it works and this really simplifies things. Great vid. Hi from the Uk btw
For the price of one GW unpainted lump of unmoving plastic you can get several larger, highly articulate, pre-painted but also still easily painted, very often come with a lot of extra stuff, and very detailed model kits which you can either straight build or do some custom work either by mixing/matching parts from other kits (kit-bashing) or making some custom modifications with wood/plastic/metal pieces. Such a hard question to answer, a single lump of unpainted plastic made by among the single most toxic and anti-consumer companies to ever exist or an objectively better in every way option from a company that encourages you to play around with the designs rather than send lawyers anytime something remotely vaguely if you squint your eyes sorta resembles-ish their product. How could one possibly decide between the two. Seriously, look at the Real Grade God Gundam and tell me that an unpainted lump of unmoving plastic from a company with lawyers more sue-happy than even disney is in any way comparable.
Bandai also axed a lot of bootleg companies for being "a bit too on-the-nose on copying their Gundam IP", so it's not that they didn't care about bootlegs, it's just that they have some priorities 🤷♂️
As an intense Gundam otaku for well over a decade after quitting 40k at around 5th ed, there's some fun bits of gunpla you kinda glossed over, which is totally fine, there's a fucking ton of info on gunpla and gundam as a whole, 40k lore levels of info. Like for instance, grade isn't JUST it's complexity, it's also SCALE. Scale has a very important role in gundam, with HG and RG being 1/144 the scale of the real life unit, MG being 1/100, etc. Some MG can even be less complex than some HG out there! Metal parts are also EXTREMELY rare. Also, very important, because of the pandemic, gunpla pricing and availability is significantly off from what it used to be, but is recovering, and using places like amazon, ebay, or even some brick and mortar stores you can end up paying double or more for a kit that was originally like $20, all because of printing, which they reprint nearly every non-exclusive kit they've ever made, even the originals from 1980! Use sites like HLJ or USAGundam for proper pricing when buying online, so you don't end up spending $100 for a $30 model like I've seen people do! Ty for the video dude, I really hope some people into wargaming check out the hobby, because it's just incredible.
Yeah we don't want to make topics too complex we keep it pretty simple and topic separated for newer hobbyists. Grades, panel lining, tools, etc. will all get a video it's on my list. So anything not touched on was left out on purpose.
I'm glad you're looking at gunpla I'm a healthy way and explaining like it should be. Alot of people kinda scare new comers off with talking about how complex or time consuming it can be, when it's really just a fun way to spend time and get as much out of it as you want. Love the new channel disel!
Alright good I actually cut a whole bunch since it gets very confusing. I'd rather touch each topic alone. Tools, grades, products in more bite size videos. Gunpla honestly has very few beginner type videos that aren't 40 minutes long.
@@manapotiontabletop those are definitely daunting to look at and its a good way to make it more original. It keeps topics separated clearly so peeps can skip around and watch what they need in each video. Good thinking king
the diference between real and super robots is not really about the politics. but about the type of mech itself. for example, escaflowne is a super robot series, BUT, its all about politics, while macross is a real robot series all about fighting aliens in space. real robots is about having robots, that are as realistic as possible, they function as a walking tank(or in the case of gundam and macross, a fighter jet). while super robot, is more about having a fantastical machine, that is filled with super powers. more in the veins of piloting a giant superman. now that doesnt mean every real robot is as realistic as possible, the original gundam series for example, have newtypes, which are basically psychics with prescience. while some super robots are more straight foward, fighting like a normal soldier would using more normal weaponry(like escaflowne or evangelion for the most part). and some real robots even cross the line into basically being a super robot, like the unicorn gundam, and some super robot act in universe like a more traditional real robot, like in dunbine.
@@blasphemicwhale sure, but they are still mechs, its not that much diferent from so many other mechs. magic knights of rayearth are basically giant suits of armor as well. some shorter mechs, like the ones from votoms are basically a mix of space suits and tanks. and if you go down that logic, the origin of the mobile suits in gundam comes from working space suits for building giant structures. which is where they got that name from.
30MM/30MS/30MF are also compatible with the WfM and Figure-Rise kits, especially with all the now standardised 3mm holes. And of course there's the Build series which are cross-compatible with the Wing or Seed series (can't remember which)
@@nickthenuker7916Most High Grades are compatible with each other since they mostly use standardized polycap joints. And for kits that use pegs for shoulders, IIRC there are 30MM adapters for ball joint to 3mm peg.
This video reminded me of the time that I did a presentation on Gunpla in college. I don't remember the specifics since it was a few years ago, but I definitely remember calling it "plastic crack" and doing a bit at the start before actually getting into the presentation proper. I had a lot of fun with that. I think that one of the best parts of Gunpla as a hobby is the ability to not know a thing about Gundam, just look around to find something that looks cool, pick it up and build it. There aren't many kits that are awful to build, especially from 2013 onwards. If anything, they can serve as a way to get into certain series, which is nice, considering not all of it is as interconnected as it might look. On the note of Gundam Breaker, I started with a Japanese import of the first game on PS3, and that basically sealed my fate from then onwards. I personally recommend 3 with all the DLC if you can find it. I had more that I wanted to say, but I've forgotten in the midst of playing a Gundam game, ironically.
The possibilities are actually endless with gunpla, similar to GW stuff. Paint it whatever colors, resculpt stuff, add more weapons, kitbash different armor etc. whatever your capable of doing, you can do.
If you want fun ways to make the runners useful instead of throwing them away you can use them for custom builds, make action bases out of them and even cut them up and put them in a jar or bottle for something to put on the shelf next to your Gundam models! it's also nice seeing the jar fill with different colors the more models you buy! Also I just recently went through the entire Universal Century timeline and It was good... But good god it's long! Took me more than a year so I didn't go insane!
I love gunpla, it’s so fun building the kit, admiring their astounding looks, and playing around with them trying to pull the perfect pose, pairing them with the abundance of accessories. Sure, there are definitely those kits better then others, but even my least favourite kits (hg exia) are still super fun. I’d highly advise you pick a kit up, even if you were a big dum dum like me who sucked at building things.
I think people should check out the little kits for Front Missions. The video games are fun as well. The kits are small enough to be only slightly larger than the standard table top minis. They have amazing detail and are fully articulated as well as extremely customizable. They do need a bit of paint to bring them out, but due to the size it wouldn’t be too hard just to brush paint them.
5:14 “This is from the original series, as far as I know, can’t wait for someone to tell me I’m wrong” GOOD NEWS, I’m not telling you you’re wrong because you are technically correct, the best kind of correct. While that particular kit is based on the mobile suit’s appearance in the 2015 prequel OVA “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin”, Char’s Zaku II does originate from the Original 1979 series “Mobile Suit Gundam”
I used to do both gunpla and 40k years ago. Once GW started raising prices I could not justify the cost. Gunpla is waaaay cheaper for what you get. Not to mention superior engineering and quality. It is not even close. It really nails home the price gouging GW does.
Quick comment on the nice runner layout/instructions. Look how old the kit is. Older kits often weren't numbered quite as well, didn't have english in the instructions ( although I think are generally easy to follow), and just might not quite be as nice. While with something like the new entry grade, the runners are numbered nicely, and even laid out so you can snap off the whole section that is for like, the right leg, or chest, or whatever, so you can basically get a few mini runners together when building a part of the gundam. So, in general, the newer the kit the nicer the build process, but even really old ones are still pretty darn great.
@@phantomzero906 It's not exactly what he says. It's more like a "double page comic panel layout" from my experience, but generally it's top left to bottom right, yes.
Algorithm pointed out your video, and I like the balanced approach on it, especially the perspective of "hey, you probably already have the tools you need", which I wholeheartedly agree with (even if I have a good amount of DSPIAE tools). Thank you so much for saying go for whatever you think looks cool - far too many get hung up on the meaning of grades, and if "they're ready". If you're patient, and the model interests you, just go for it! That Perfect Grade is what you want to build, and you can afford it? Great, do it! I know one of the main things parroted in the hobby is "start with High Grades", but that assumes you have little to absolutely zero skills that could be transferred. I personally build a combination of Real Grades and Master Grades - RG because of just how intricate they are, and MG's because a lot of my favourite designs are in there, and I prefer the taller size (okay, I'll admit it, it's also because the resin conversion kit bug got me gooooooood) "I can't wait for somebody to tell me I'm wrong". The Char's Zaku II "The Red Comet" kit is from Gundam: The Origin, which is a retelling of the original story, so, I'd argue close enough ^_^ The "Gundam:The Origin" models are fun to build, relatively easy, and just as important are wonderfully detailed. They're the only HG's I've been tempted to Pokémon, because I love how they've approached that line.
i think most that live on asian side like that . they live closer to Japan . i know nothing about GW , my gateway is Dawn of War that i accidently play on my cousin PC in my childhood . there sooooo much blood . wayyyyyyyyyy different than the famous red alert or tiberium sun or starcraft .
people from the warhammer area i would def recommend to look up zaku type gunpla. they give more of the warhammer vibe. other gundams give it a very futuristic approach . good luck guys.
I don't blame you for waiting on a Real Grade. I tried my first, a Zaku II, and WOW was I in over my head, but I did it and enjoyed it, and I'll be doing my second Real Grade soon, a Zeong. I was waiting for an effects kit to arrive and it came today
I took on a variant of Gunpla called 30 Minutes Missions, as I'm more for grunts and squads than one of a kind overpowered units. I have also heard people already cooking up a tabletop game based on them. Incidentally one of the units shown is from the line, that green and olive colored one, called a Rabiot.
Big fan of 40k and lore but omg I can't for the life of me buy much of GW kits. When compared to japanese model kits, not just gunpla, you get so much more for the same price. Just looking at Kotobukiya, Hasegawa and Bandai in what they have to offer feels like your getting ripped off. Especially the tech being employed in modern gunpla kits with their injection process.
Another thing to note is this hobby has been going since 1980, with most kits readily available today being from 2000 and on, and trust me, damn near 30 years of engineering advancement makes a hell of a difference in mold and build quality and articulation You _will_ feel it when your kit came out 20 some odd years ago, so pay attention to kit release dates
I know it's pronounced Sh-ar with the soft C. I actually had this filmed before having watched any series. Currently working my way through all of the UC stuff.
I’m just barely getting into 40k. what I can say is that my experience building Gunpla has helped me tremendously putting those little space marines together (shaving bits down, mold lines, kit bashing) I do love both now but building Gunpla for me is how ridiculously over engineered they are. And the fun of discovery while making are super rad while you recreate those figures!
Someone finally talked me into trying Gunpla, I used to have a bunch of Gundam action figures as a kid and I do need a break from my homebrew Space Marines (why did I choose yellow as a main color?!).
I never got too far into 40k, and I read more of the codices and rulebooks than actually playing. Gunpla and its franchise has always been the bigger passion, and now I'm fairly confident in custom painting and airbrushing. Taking a big step into Infinity now, and it's quite interesting in how my tastes have evolved. I still painted a warship and tanks in the meantime. Like others have said, gunpla is what you make of it, and Bandai spoils you in terms of ease, fit, and colour for the most part.
Love the video. gunpla is freedom, and ALSO, since we are talking about Gunpla vs warhammer 40k, THERE is a way to use your gunpla in a table board game ( made exactly for gunplas and robots in general ). so if you want, you can ALSo play with your mechs :D
I’d suggest the Gundam series for anyone who’s interested. There are a bunch of different universes. Iron blooded orphans is a great one-off show to sort of see if you’re interested. What I love about gunpla is just that I get to have a relatively cheap, but detailed figures of mobile suits from my favorite Gundam series. plus you can do whatever you want with them and many of the models even encourage custom builds with some sort of uniformity.
I would recommend panel lining it. It takes a few minutes but it really does bring out more details. Also have fun with the RG line up it can be tedious at times but the end result is amazing.
Gunpla are much cheaper than Citadel miniatures, bigger, fun to build, less fragile, articulated - and they look great even if you don't paint them. In terms of lore, its obviously very different to 40K but it's also a more believable universe than the GW grimdark stuff - with characters you will actually care about and a depiction of a future you can really believe happening. And the Tau are sort of a ripoff of Gundam 😅
As an avid gunpla builder and lover of 40k I think you went over this beautifully, and its a very expansive community for it as well. Don't feel intimidated about the RG I love that grade and its the perfect balance of an MG and HG combined!
If you want complexity, you can try out some of the Ver. Ka MGs. Something like the Full Armor Gundam and Psycho Zaku, or the FAZZ are a couple of recommended ones.
If you already like the colors and want a "Clean" look, use Tamiya Panel liners and once those are dry use 600 or 800 grit sanding sponges on the panels to give them a uniform matte finish without having to bust out an air brush. If you want a grimy look, sand first then use what ever weathering powders and inks you like. Gunpla is so much more forgiving and inexpensive a hobby.
So a year late: you called it 'The Gundam', 'The Guy'. We refer to it colloquially as "Grandpa". Ignoring all the universe stuff, it is the first 'rolled out' Gundam. And every Gundam descends from it (whether by Real Lore, or in-its-universe lore). (Not all 'Mobile Suits' are 'Gundams'. All 'Gundams' are 'Mobile Suits'). (Note: "Breakers" and "Build" lines occur in variations of our world where building Gunpla is the current YuGiOh/Beyblade/Etc. And people battle with their Gunpla)
yea, that bigger the size the way more runners it will have and the more money it cost and best start at the small SD chibi gunpla models witch great to begin with.
I got into it almost 4 years ago and i have almost close to 100 built gunpla is more simpler and fun than warship or tank model kits I would recommend them to anyone but don’t call it a transformer to some fans they’ll get pissed😂
I got into Gunpla because I didn't like painting WH40K miniatures. Now I'm painting a few areas on the Kotobukiya Tsugumori kit, because the fingertips and spearhead need to be red.
The engineering in these models are great , I've built around 30 have around 60, 28 are built and part built and up to 32years old , I enjoy the anime also so it's good to have some of the history behind what I'm building . Good nipper's go far
I just started using my runners as temporary stands for some of my gunpla kits perfect for 1/144 kits until you can get a display stand or flight stand for it.
Should be noted: MG has fewer choice in models than HG, but that’s because Hg has a RIDICULOUS amount of choice. MG still has great selection. Also, RG is what they imagine the mobile suit would look like if it actually existed.
for basic grades hg(high grade) and rg(real grade) are 1/144 scale, mg(master grade) is 1/100, pg(Perfect grade) is 1/60, and mega size kits are 1/48 scale. real grades are more detailed kits than high grades but usually more expensive.
I love not having to pay the price of silver for some plastic. I love building miniatures that aren't cheaper to base with ACTUAL MARBLE than the official plastic bases.
Most HG kits you can freely swap the parts, but the cool thing about the Battlogue Breakers is they come with like adapter parts for any part swapping issues that particular kit might have with other kits
Sprue is also used for gunpla, but often it's used to refer to the exposed parts of the sprue gates after cutting them. I guess runner is used to differentiate? But i see them used pretty interchangeably.
The way I see it is this. You guys are artistically inclined that do not need articulation because your models are fixed. While in gunpla we are more interested in machines how they are built what science conspire such a model kit. So you guys may go with that. We engrave then paint it to make it more realistic considering it's scale of 1/144 on high grades and most 1/100 scale on master grades. Yes some of us are into dioramas and others are on realism on how it really look like in real life. And others paint it just like lifted from Manga. And others make battle damage that may fit you guys that includes more engineering. I would recommend to watch the anime series and read their Manga to make a perfect gunpla. Enjoy
Idk about the english fandom but according to a dog in a bowl: Warhammer 40k es una franquicia de ciencia ficción y fantasía oscura para adultos o grimdark como suele ser referido, fundada en el año 1987 creada por la compañía británica Games Workshop. Esta inicio como una adaptación de otro gran título de Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Translated is: is like warcraft but more edgy and in space and way more factions like the cultist of microwaves(mechanicus), alien pokemon trainer terminators(necrons), engeeniering imagination powered greenskins(orks), alien comunist mech pilots(tau) or the tyranids that are like the flood from halo, and many other more factions
40k prices are unjustified especially at local shops. Gundam has a larger variety and wider market audience to boot. I was lucky to get a discounted 2005 dated 3 pack of marines for 8$. It rockets real quick outside of that. I’m not dissing on those who do the games and such but man does gamesworkship be grubby to take your money.
RGs are my favourite but Im SUPER pumped for the MG SD line, super articulated SD Gundams is all I've ever wanted! Real grades are fine BUT cut in a clear area, so if a tine piece goes flying you can find it. Also the first Wing Zero RG is whats called a "hand grenade", I'm assuming you can gather what that means lol I need to buy some kits again, been WAY too long. Personally I'm in the hobby for kit bashing~ Youre right about the build series, but a lot of HGs are easy to bash, you just gotta watch your joints, like if the poly caps are the same size its easy swapable~
I liked Gunpla. I liked the 30-minute mission kits a bit better... but the main grab for 40k for me is the of course the tt game, magnitizing (for some reason lol), kitbashes, and PAINTING. I know gunpla "can" be painted, but theres something satisfying to me when finding and finding a great color scheme for your new squad of immortal robot Egyptians or rambo jungle fighters. Then talking about all things over some dice with buds... Dice tell stories!
It's weird, I got burned out on Gunpla after 8years and roughly 150kits build. Fled to 40k and enjoyed that for about 2 years and 3 or 4 armies. Now with point costs dropping and pricing increasing, meaning more models at higher cost, I can feel myself being drawn back to Gunpla and Kotobukiya Model Kits again.

I know what nippers you're talking about and you don't really need them. I do hear that the Godhand nippers are as good as their reputation says they are but there's cheaper options out there. I personally recommend the Dspiae 3.0 nippers which are really good and make a very clean cut.
Gunpla is so much fun :D I might also recommend ZOIDS to you. Also a line of mecha modelkits (this time animal inspired) that's been going on since I think the 80s. They come from several manufacturers, but personally I like the Kotobukiya HMM line best. Highly detailed and challenging to build.
Have you ever heard of Don Suratos?? He does a lot of Gunpla/tabletop painting. (Using miniature paints to add weathering/battle damage to Gunpla looks awesome) And a good crossover between Bandai and GW would be making a Commander Farsight Gunpla.

Seriously, look at the Real Grade God Gundam and tell me that an unpainted lump of unmoving plastic from a company with lawyers more sue-happy than even disney is in any way comparable.
Bandai also axed a lot of bootleg companies for being "a bit too on-the-nose on copying their Gundam IP", so it's not that they didn't care about bootlegs, it's just that they have some priorities 🤷♂️
for the price of one 10 man space marine squad even at a discount from 3rd party retailer i can get 3-4 HG gunpla kits.
Evangelion is what happens when you tell a super robots story using real robots logic.
I’d argue Escaflowne isn’t even a true mechanic series as IIRC it’s essentially a giant suit of armour and not a mech, but that anime SLAPS
@@blasphemicwhale sure, but they are still mechs, its not that much diferent from so many other mechs.
magic knights of rayearth are basically giant suits of armor as well.
some shorter mechs, like the ones from votoms are basically a mix of space suits and tanks.
and if you go down that logic, the origin of the mobile suits in gundam comes from working space suits for building giant structures. which is where they got that name from.
wait till you discover 30 minute missions, literally kitbash heaven, like it is literally the lego of model kits
Lore is only important if you're doing dioramas, gunpla and figurise are great on their own
4:09 wow that's new , 20 years being in gunpla modeling all i see was the numbers is all over the place whenever i assemble it
Yeah same here I didn’t know they were printed in a certain direction!
I personally build a combination of Real Grades and Master Grades - RG because of just how intricate they are, and MG's because a lot of my favourite designs are in there, and I prefer the taller size (okay, I'll admit it, it's also because the resin conversion kit bug got me gooooooood)
"I can't wait for somebody to tell me I'm wrong".
I'm one of those odd ducks where Gunpla and Plamo was the gateway drug into Warhammer.
i think most that live on asian side like that . they live closer to Japan .
i know nothing about GW , my gateway is Dawn of War that i accidently play on my cousin PC in my childhood . there sooooo much blood . wayyyyyyyyyy different than the famous red alert or tiberium sun or starcraft .
people from the warhammer area i would def recommend to look up zaku type gunpla. they give more of the warhammer vibe. other gundams give it a very futuristic approach . good luck guys.
I don't blame you for waiting on a Real Grade. I tried my first, a Zaku II, and WOW was I in over my head, but I did it and enjoyed it, and I'll be doing my second Real Grade soon, a Zeong. I was waiting for an effects kit to arrive and it came today
I love the RG Zeong, it was my first RG kit.
Looking at the year of release would be important, at least in setting expectations…
Another thing to note is this hobby has been going since 1980, with most kits readily available today being from 2000 and on, and trust me, damn near 30 years of engineering advancement makes a hell of a difference in mold and build quality and articulation
You _will_ feel it when your kit came out 20 some odd years ago, so pay attention to kit release dates
4:57 hi! I'm just pointing this out, the waist on the rx78 is on backwards, the side with the red part goes to the front !
Me and every other Gundam fan burst a blood vessel when we heard how he pronounced Char's name lmao
I know it's pronounced Sh-ar with the soft C. I actually had this filmed before having watched any series. Currently working my way through all of the UC stuff.
@@manapotiontabletop hell yeah, welcome to the community. Gundam is a wild ride that has both excellent and very, *very* bad series lmao
Hell yeah. Gunpla fucking rules.
Absolutely I've played around with models not made by Bandai. Once the super glue comes out boy does it get annoying.
Gunpla is a quite addictive and therapeutic at the same time...
GUNPLA IS FREEDOM!!!!!
Love the video. gunpla is freedom, and ALSO, since we are talking about Gunpla vs warhammer 40k, THERE is a way to use your gunpla in a table board game ( made exactly for gunplas and robots in general ). so if you want, you can ALSo play with your mechs :D
“Rich vs broke” for 40K vs Gunpla is hysterical when you see PerfectGrade and Master Grade Extreme
"very poseable" shows the RG wing zero custom.... yeah about that...
I would recommend panel lining it. It takes a few minutes but it really does bring out more details. Also have fun with the RG line up it can be tedious at times but the end result is amazing.
0:23 Rabiot jumpscare?!?!?
I really love Gunpla and I'm a Perfect Grade addict, not enough of those guys out there I'm running out of em to build :(
If you want complexity, you can try out some of the Ver.
Tbh, I feel like any pose you use with a gunpla build looks cool
I've been trying so hard to bring gunpla to tabletop, it's tedious, but fun if you're into the anime
8:04 you need to cut that v fins bloky thing
To quote meijin kawaguchi from build series "gunpla is freedom"
"It's as garish as an American would make a gundam" Gundam Maxter would like a word
You want the actual size comparison for lore wise, buy the mega size (1/48).
yea, that bigger the size the way more runners it will have and the more money it cost and best start at the small SD chibi gunpla models witch great to begin with.
I got into it almost 4 years ago and i have almost close to 100 built gunpla is more simpler and fun than warship or tank model kits I would recommend them to anyone but don’t call it a transformer to some fans they’ll get pissed😂
can someone tell me what the ringing in the background is ???
Bet you called Gundams “Robots” just to trigger the entire fanbase and it kinda worked
They are robots though. The original Gundam is even capable of basic moving and shooting without a pilot inside of it.
Yes.... yes it is
I just started using my runners as temporary stands for some of my gunpla kits perfect for 1/144 kits until you can get a display stand or flight stand for it.
When it comes to gunpla, assembly is a lot easier. Assembling stage 1 involves runnes starting with 1. 1A, 1B. Intuitive :3
Should be noted: MG has fewer choice in models than HG, but that’s because Hg has a RIDICULOUS amount of choice. MG still has great selection.
Also, RG is what they imagine the mobile suit would look like if it actually existed.
Don't forget, there's actually a few different homebrew tabletop strategy games that use gunpla as minis as well.
for basic grades hg(high grade) and rg(real grade) are 1/144 scale, mg(master grade) is 1/100, pg(Perfect grade) is 1/60, and mega size kits are 1/48 scale. real grades are more detailed kits than high grades but usually more expensive.
You had me at “goes on sale” 😂
My new favourite thing is seeing warhammer nerds suddenly discovering gunpla and having a religious experience
Gunplas and warhammer minis are my main hobbies next to drawing comic
I love not having to pay the price of silver for some plastic. I love building miniatures that aren't cheaper to base with ACTUAL MARBLE than the official plastic bases.
Most HG kits you can freely swap the parts, but the cool thing about the Battlogue Breakers is they come with like adapter parts for any part swapping issues that particular kit might have with other kits
Sprue is also used for gunpla, but often it's used to refer to the exposed parts of the sprue gates after cutting them. I guess runner is used to differentiate? But i see them used pretty interchangeably.
40k: no game no entertainment
gundam: no anime no entertainment
I looked at the thumbnail and was like gunpla cheap? I was like " this dood has not seen pbandai or the pg line or gbase line kits."
Yes. A thousand times. Yes. Gunplay is absolutely more fun to mod and paint then warhamemr. Holy crap.
Enjoy
I've done full paint jobs on 2 new gundam and one of the early kits 😊
I have a custom squadron of zaku 2’s that are based on space marines :3
What is 40K? I never even heard about it, maybe people outside of US don't even know about it cuz it's not popular
Translated is: is like warcraft but more edgy and in space and way more factions like the cultist of microwaves(mechanicus), alien pokemon trainer terminators(necrons), engeeniering imagination powered greenskins(orks), alien comunist mech pilots(tau) or the tyranids that are like the flood from halo, and many other more factions
Rx 78 Gundam is loving referred to as Grandpa Gundam since it was the first.
You're looking for the newer Master Grade kits.
i'm getting back into modelling, hardcore level with lining everything and warhammer, RIP wallet because the Norn Emissary / Norn Assimilator costs around 115 and i want like 2 each + the Swarmlord
It is Char's Zaku from the Origin. It is his story so its a bit different from the og zaku's. its from 2015 but gunpla is freedom
Sand your nubs, paint it, panel line it and use water stickers. The money isn't in the kit itself. It's the other tools.
Astounding review and explanation! 🎉🎉🎉 👏 👏 👏
ive been building warhammer minis for years an am burnt out so i started gundam myself around the time this video came out and it can be a money sink ive been buying up kits like crazy but i can also go outr with a 20 and come back with a kit aint shit from GW 20 bucks so far im loving it and already down a few MGs and that same RG with the wings that u got as for getting into gundam lore and stuff Iron Blooded orphans is a great show for those that arent huge anime fans and hulu has a lot of gundam content that is dubbed cause its hard to read subs and build ur gundams at the same time ...long story short im really likeing this new to me hobby and have noticed quite a few folks at the gundam wall of my local hobby shop say they are new to idk if its something in the water or this timeline weve warped to but 2023 seems to be the year of the gundam ... i wonder if theres a way to see if theres actually an upswing in sales?
I know what nippers you're talking about and you don't really need them. I do hear that the Godhand nippers are as good as their reputation says they are but there's cheaper options out there. I personally recommend the Dspiae 3.0 nippers which are really good and make a very clean cut.
Wait until this guy finds GunFrame
Im kinda in opposite, currently doing gunpla stuff but want to try 40k model
Gunpla is so much fun :D
I might also recommend ZOIDS to you.
(Using miniature paints to add weathering/battle damage to Gunpla looks awesome)
And a good crossover between Bandai and GW would be making a Commander Farsight Gunpla.
Bandai should produce Warhammer miniatures
WTH theres articulation in entry grades??
Wait until you learn the term p bandai and hazel madness
The complexity is there with lego but it comes at a much higher price
It would be very interesting to integrate Gunpla and Mobile Suits into Warhammer 40k gameplay
Sooooo... Head's up on Hobby Lobby. Their "on sale" prices are typically higher than online prices by $20 - $30.
Gunpla, comes in colors, snap build, posable joints, great detail depends on the grade. 40k figures, grayscale model needs paint, not posable, glue only. sells for same price or more expensive wtf ?
