Could you please share with us as to how you acheive the "whitening" of the graphite/charcoal initial layering so as to create the white(very light shades), for example the "whiteness" of the clouds,or the lightness of the sandy beach.? Is it that you use a special eraser, or use a white charcoal pencil, or alternatively something else? Thank you!

Eraser extracting graphite

how did you apply the beginning stage ? looked like a applicater diped in some drk substance
Just a soft applicator of some sort. Can use cotton balls, soft brush, etc.
the dark substance is simply graphite powder.
Can get at any art store or amazon.
