Really appreciate how much of a no-nonsense guy Ray was. Only spoke what needed to be said. No more, no less. No surprise how he got his physique when you see how he carried himself.
I was like yeah another "Mike" mentzer video "click". During the viceo, hmm he sounds different here than usual. Only after watching the whole video I realized it was his brother and not Mike himself lmfao.
boyer coe definitely improved his phisiquique with this training method just take as a comparison the other video workouts his guns are masssive in this video
Arthur Jones had a full tv set with his machines on it where the athletes would train. As far as I remember, were these sessions recorded for various reasons. To analyse the training, material for adds and the like...
Allow me to ask you a question about Candace: I try to take 3-4 seconds in each phase of the movement, however, in some exercises I end up stopping for a second, at the end of the movement, in the concentric phase (like Leg Press, Shoulder press for example). Is this pause a problem? I notice that many HIT practitioners perform a continuous movement exercise, but inthe Video Boyer do stop at the end of the range of movements. Thanks I peforma Full body workout with 7-9 exercise(1 Upper Body compound pull , 1 Upper Body compound Push, 1 Lower body compound exercise. Plus 1 Knee flextion, 1 Calf exercise, 1 Biceps exercise, 1 tricpes exercise. A once a week a add some 1 ab exercise and 1wirst exercise). My frequency is around 72 -96 Hours . 1 Day on 2-3 days off
Yes, most resistance training machines in the gyms will do the job. Nautilus machines, particularly the older ones, were great, however. Mainly because Arthur Jones, the man who created them, was obsessed with muscle physiology and manufacturing cams that tracked the strength curve of the muscles throughout a full range of motion. No machine manufacturer had been so obsessed about these details prior to this.
@@HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE Heard. Yeah I was like when I had gotten your heavy duty program book with Mike mentzer I was like I hope the machines that we have will work the same as so far if I followed everything right it seems to make me grow so yeah thanks John.
Yes, this was Arthur Jones' experiment and training protocol, circa 1983. This wasn't Mike's protocol, as Mike didn't come out with his revised Heavy Duty program until ten years later and was simply there to put Boyer through Arthur's program.
Boyer’s progress had stalled. Rather than giving him more days off to recover, Arthur thought he should just do a maintenance workout instead. This consisted of reducing the weight in some cases and doing less repetitions. The experiment, if you’d care to call it that, was not particularly successful for a lot of reasons. Primarily because Boyer was overtrained.
Ray Mentzer, one of the most underrated bodybuilders of the century
Man, those machines were WILD!!!
Still are. Nautilus is still alive and well.
The peck deck is amazing. I wish I could work out with one by arming it instead of gripping with hands
I miss both Mike and Ray. But at least have these gems to keep their legacy alive.

Less than 16 minutes!
He rests in the lower point after the negative.
What does maintenace workout mean? This is the first time I hear this in the HIT philosophy training.
I explained this in the description of the video.
Thank you!I thought it was something like this, which doesn't comply with modern HIT rules.
10:13 Ray is looking like “I already did my workout”
was this for a tv show? What context was this video filmed and released under?
Im not sure but I think that it was advertise of Nautilus equipment

@@ignotas557 That's most probable given Arthur being a buisnessman
There are some interviews with Ellington Darden on yt where he explains how things worked out there.

Hey John so they don't use the Nautilus machines anymore. Will the regular gym machines work and suffice?
Yes, most resistance training machines in the gyms will do the job. Nautilus machines, particularly the older ones, were great, however. Geez, boyer barely take a breather between exercises, I'm like trying to recover longer so I don't screw up my next exercise hahah
Try steroids
Dated the smoldering Miss Olympia, Rachel McLish
i assume boyer?
So Boyer did full body workouts instead of Mike's standard 4 day split?

That’s the oddest hamstring machine ever!
Arthur Jones always advocated trying to failure. Strange Coe would stop short of failure.
Read video description, it explains it there 👍

I wonder why he gave him less reps
Boyer Coe had a solid physique but no abdominals.
