The sequel is an honest great movie. Even the kid in it is not lame. I highly recommend watching it within 2 weeks so things stay fresh Edit: thank you for thinking about the Mummy’s henchmen mummies. They just woke up and now they have to get to work. No one ever thinks of the henchmen! Thank you for doing so. The deleted scenes from Austin Powers 1 have screwed me up for life.
Love the fact that daughter crochets. That's dope. And love how the beanie matches nicely with Tara's shirt. That is also dope. I appreciate more things these days.
John Hannah( the brother) he’s so different and evil in Spartacus (Stars series) along with Xena. TBH some of the best villainy I’ve ever seen. Definitely a bucket list show
So, at the 13:00 mark, Fraser's stunned expression was quite real. He was standing in the wrong place and Weisz pulled him out of the way at the last second before the "bullets". He would have been severly injured, again, on that set. Someone else will discuss the other incidents. Also, there are an insane number of Scorpion King movies, especially for a series where the first was the only theatrical release and it was a middling success at best.
4:02 the first couple of movies i remember seeing the actor playing the Mummy in was the 93 Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Hard Target with the Quaker Oats guy, and the 95 & 96 Darkman 2 & 3 straight to video movies playing ths main character Darkman who was originally played by Liam Neeson in the 1990 theatrical film directed by Sam Raimi.
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie. Side trivia: 1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply). 2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel. 3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move. 4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.
35:53 Funny thing with this shot. The mummies were added after so Frasier was just told to swing the sword around and they animated the mummies in response to his swinging.
That can actually make more sense than trying to animate them first & then try to coordinate the actor to swing at specific points which can look awkward lol
5:56 Oded Fehr was akso in the Resident Evil movies, he also voiced DC comic characters in various series like Doctor Fate in the 03 Justice League animated series & Justice League Unlimited 04-06 series, Equinox in Batman: the Brave and the Bold animated series with Diedrich Bader as Batman, Mr. Freeze i.n Batman Unlimited, and Ra's al Ghul in the Young Justice series. Funny enough he also voiced Marvel character The Living Mummy in the Ultimate Spider-Man series, and the Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H series.
when I first saw this in the movie house, the rotting face kissing scene always alarmed me. But years later thinking about it now, I kind of put my self in the mind of the character and wondered what was worse for miss Evie. Her waking up to find a hunky guy's face rotting, or the fact the guy is thousands of years old and not even scope or a tic tac could help that bad breath
I counted 12 coin sounds but there were 4 naughty words not covered by the coin sound. Idk if that was unintentional or not but originally 12 coin sounds. Also, fun fact, yet not so fun, Brendan Fraser nearly died on set of this movie. The hanging scene, they had him on his toes with the rope a little too tight and when you see his eyes rolling to the back of his head that is actually him passing out from asphyxiation. The medics on scene had to perform CPR.
Had to miss the premier due to work, but someone gave me a membership anyways. Want to thank whoever it was. Things have been too tight to get one myself and I really appreciate it. Love watching you all!
Great movie. This is a fun adventure movie. They don't make movies like the anymore . The last fun adventure movie is Prince Of Persia 2010. The Mummy 2 is also a good movie but the third one is horrible. The modern remake with Tom crusie is very different but it is decent and more horror. You should also see Blast from the Past and School Ties with Brandon Frasier. Also The National Treasure movies. Fyi Brandon Frasier almost died from the hanging scene.
For me this is the swan song of the 'pulp revival' that started with Indiana Jones. 1980-1999 Other notable pulps of the era are The Rocketeer, The Phantom, The Shadow, and the Richard Chamberlain/Sharon Stone Allan Quartermain movies.
Oooo!! One of my favorites. Fingers crossed I don't miss the premier. (I'm having a bad pain day, after a bad pain weekend. And my health insurance is all messed up.)
Damn these meds. Put me right to sleep so I missed the premier. Lesser-than--ness, I watched it and loved your reaction. Maybe now you understand whey it's one of my favorite movies. Thank you for cheering me up on a really terrible day. I think I re-herniated my disc. Feels exactly the same.
You want to see more of Brendan Fraser in more adventure, Journey To The Center Of The Earth from 2008. Btw I liked The Mummy with Tom Cruise, but I like many sequels that others dont like because the movies are different from the original movies, like Child`s Play from 2019 that people didnt like because the story doesnt have Charles Lee Ray to take over the doll but its instead set as a malfunction in the high-tech doll. Take care of you all and hope you will have a great 2025.
I remember seeing this in the movie theaters when it first came out. My mom took me to it and I loved it. I enjoyed it. Part 2 was okay. Three could have been better but the back of my mind was like where's Harrison Ford to play? Brendan Fraser's father
You should really check out the Doom patrol series even though it's just Brendan Fraser voice work. It's also some of the best work Brendan Fraser ever done.
I love the first 2 Mummy movies and pretty much anything Brendan Fraser has done. The 3rd movie is ok but doesn't have the same chemistry between Rick and Evie since Rachel Weisz isn't in it. Have you seen Brendan in Encino Man?
What have we done= Well, you killed a lot of people , who were the keepers of the book and were trying to save humanity, you stole ancient relics, you read from the book bringing back evil, you killed the poor mummy who suffered unspeakably for millenia again ... Seems to me you are the bad guys for all accounts
Ok I love u, loved this. But it’s Brendan FRASER - there’s no “i” like “Fraiser”, y’all. It’s pronounced “Fray-zer”. I only say something bc it bothers HIM. He’s been on camera talking ab it. Like, a lot. Lol So no hate. Just fyi. (And since it bothers him…)

I so wanted to see Pauly Shore show up in a cameo or at least in the credits as a blooper. "I'm a mummy, buddy." Lol
"I'm making a sweater....sup" 😂

He's so good in Spartacus! His delivery of the most ridiculous lines is phenomenal 😅

This is way better than the Tom cruise version!
Agreed
Better not say the T.C. word around Tara.. that will be get 2 more Mario coins!! 😂😂😂 She is not a fan.. 😂😂
If you haven't seen it I highly recommend Bedazzled (2000). One of his best movies I think.

You should see journey to the center of the earth 🌍 Brendan Frazier’s best movie
31:38 my favorite movie I've seen the actor for Benny in besides this film was in the Horror / Action film Deep Rising 1998.
Had to miss the premier due to work, but someone gave me a membership anyways. Want to thank whoever it was. Things have been too tight to get one myself and I really appreciate it. Love watching you all!
You're welcome! Glad you're enjoying it!
Drank him like he was a Capri Sun. Lmbo. No wonder I love your reactions
Tara tell your beautiful daughter it was really the first Scooby-Doo movie where they go to the island and it was called Spooky Island

Extra points to Tara for the "Deuce" reference!

Honey. ENCINO MAN! You'll love the whole cast and Brendan Fraser is hilarious in that one.
No weezing the juice.. seen it love it
You have definitely got to see The Mummy Returns! The entire main cast returns. It’s just as fun. Maybe skip the third. It’s not very good.
This is the remake of the 1932 Universal film of the same name. The original starred Boris Karloff as Imhotep.
DEEP RISING IS THE BEST STEPHEN SOMMER MOVIE
Our father always made us watch next of kin. As an adult, I understand. banger patrick swaze family. Before Vin xeasel n those cars 🚗 lol Vin density.
It was sure nice for that one mummy to give O'Connell a hand there before he was squished to death. I counted 12 coins.
12 coins maybe????? I have trouble counting that high unless I take off my shoes
Yeah, I can't count past 20 without my shoes off and my pants down. Ok, ok... 20 1/2

Tom Cruise has nothing to do with the newer Mummy being bad.
You might want to read on how involved he was with the direction of the film and script. He was partly to blame.
