How wonderfully expressed. Thank you for sharing this insight. It is so important not to divorce these great works from their context in Scripture and the Tradition of Christianity. Well done.
I have spent two years of my life listening to nothing but acappella music. And I've heard some very great, and some very bad groups. You guys are among my top 5.
the low key may be authentic. At the time Tallis was writing the Choir schools had been closed so only the clarks (who were all men) were singing in church.
@hakestad Agreed...the bass is exceptionally done here. All of you guys are really good and I hope you keep it up! Us young folks need to revive interest in real music.
@dalem Thank you for your response! Just one of us is music students. That is me, on the left hand side. We are just friends who worked together in a summer job :-)
For a singer, the harmonies are lovely to get lost in, but for Tallis this is not just a song--these words tell the last moments of Jesus' earthly life, and encouragement to his "little ones" in the face of unspeakable sorrow and fear. Only Tallis has translated this feeling into song, and it should be sung while aware of when and to whom these words are being spoken. Read John 14, put yourself in the disciples' shoes, it's devastating. Jesus is offering the gift of hope.
Very enjoyable, props to all but the base was very strong and also the...contratenor? (guy to the right of the bass). Last chord started a bit shaky, but overall that was legit. :) Anyways very nice. Props.
A noble effort but needs more work. A good piece to chose for 4 male voices and I know it well. Think more like 'performance' rather than 'practice' as there's a lot of potential there,
My compliments to the bass, he really brought the music to a new level.
Speechless! the bass is wonderful!
That is a really beautiful rendition of this song.

Such a low key! It compliments the bass very nicely. Singing along with the tenor part makes me feel like I'm singing baritone! Heh
This melts my bones...I'm shaking...
What a wonderful performance!! It really touched me (especially low bass). Thanks for uploading this video (from Japan).
beautifully done! Reminds me of my prep school days singing in a 16-man acappella group.
what an interesting sound. the bass is quite good.

Lovely voices but just a bit too slow

Very good but the second counter needs to push out more tone, the guy on top is awesome 👏
