I'll be honest, I was not expecting this to be this good. And yet - balance is phenomenal, good interpretation, wonderful silky sound. Alto usually gets lost at this pitch - not here! Great stuff.

So pleased to hear you again, singing another version of the "Ave Verum Corpus" celestian catholic song. GOD BLESS YOU, guys!! You are so talented!! BONJOUR from France!!
I listen to this recording daily and get chills every time. It is by far my favorite recording of Byrd's Ave Verum Corpus. Thank you for the inspiration.
Wow. You guys were *phenomenal.*. I've rarely seen famous professionals pull that beautiful piece off with the class and feeling that it deserves, and you guys made it seem effortless. Bravo!!
This is one of my favorite songs it always makes me cry with joy. You sang beautifully and it was only a rehearsal. Am a buddhist but was raised in a Catholic Convent til I was 9. Happy memories.
Gentlemen: Extraordinary. I have heard, and sung, this piece countless times over the years, but few performances approach this kind of passion, workmanship, and tenderness. Thank you.
This is now my favorite version of the Bryd , Ave Verum... Just beautifully sung and true! Thank You. For some friends just having some fun, you guys are really talented. but that's what happens when you make music from the heart. Even though this was done awhile back, hope you guys will get back together and do more!
This is for real!!! no way, beautiful version, the counter tenor is amazing, are you a group? you have to, celestial sound!!! Bravo all of you guys. :)
Yup - I think it went pretty well too . I'm addicted to this interpretation. Beautiful sound blending those excellent voices. Especially love the counter tenor rising above the rich lower tones. Great work lads!
Music and cloth are perfect, this is very charming offset that is natural and repecting byrds standarts. Singers during renaissance werre dress with everyday dressing. To sum up, Cool And Natural
Just plain fantastic!!! The blend, the balance, the tone quality--it was just magical! And I loooooooved the ornamentation at 3:05! This is one of my favorite pieces and y'all really did it justice!
Wow, that is awesome! Thanks so much. We are singing this in our choir at the moment and listening to you guys makes me realise we have got a way to go yet!
This is my favorite piece of music ever, and it is well done here. This makes me miss performing more than anything I've heard in the past three years. Thank you.
@LouisvilleTorn8do Byrd was a favorite composer of Elizabeth and her court, and a member of the Chapel Royal. Elizabeth was a moderate Protestant who loved the old ritual and music of the Church in which she grew up, and so retained vestments, candles, and polyphony. Tallis was also a RC, and in the Chapel Royal. Byrd continued to write for Elizabeth and the chapel, even though he also paid recusancy fines. This piece was probably RC house church music (Gradualia, 1605).
Oh my god. I LOVE this, you guys did an absolutely amazing job!! Just an idea though, maybe you guys could consider wearing fancier clothing when filming? Just looks nicer for performers :) But honestly, I'd pay to hear you guys sing, please keep it up! :)
I can’t stop listening to this. I love the comment at the end but I’m only in partial agreement with it - it didn’t go pretty well, it went beautifully well. Thank you for this. ❤
Oh Mom 2.0 ❤️❤️❤️ The funny thing about all these videos is we had never even sang together as a group, I had literally just met these guys a few days earlier. We only recorded these for fun, and it was just kismet they came out so good. We have all joked that some day we will come together and make new videos and who knows, we just may. Love you ❤️
Absolutely beautiful sound , Try The Gesualdo Six at Ely Cathedral version of Ave Verum. Oh by the way ,love the trill 3.07 ......never heard that done on this piece of music
GREAT! That's probably very close to the way it sounded in Byrd's day. Our church's Latin Mass choir is scheduled to sing this in the Spring. It's nice to only hear one voice per part, especially when you're trying to pick out the tenor part. Have you guies thought about getting a high suprano, and letting Alllegri's Miserere rip?
Hey guys..Nick Zammit, et al many thanks for a hoot of a performance. Very good to see young chaps singing so well together for (was it) the first time? Great job!
From left to right: the first sounds to be the tenor. Second is counter-tenor. Third I have no idea... Maybe the baritone or another tenor? The last one is base.
Wonderful all you guys!! Really really just beutiful Im from Monterrey México and I want to say you all Congratulations and please please keep going Im studiyng Music in the Music University here in Monterrey and this Motete performed by you all helped me a looooot , I hooe you still practice or keep together singing congratulations again!
Well done! Never heard it in F# before. Many people don't realise that 4-voice motets like this are really men's voice music in spite of usually being sung SATB. You have also proved that presentation doesn't matter two hoots, so long as the singing is good (Americans, take note). More please - including the baggy shorts and trousers, the music stands and the self-direction!
All 4 of you are incredible...but, whomever amongst you that is singing the soprano part is talented beyond anything words can describe...simply wonderful and limitless in the beauty of your vocal intonations and harmony intermixing. Bravo! When is the album coming out?
The way they're dressed is misleading haha. Great performance! You should share your gifts at the nearest Catholic Mass..the Church needs a return to this type of music.
Oh well done, guys. Beautiful, controlled and blended sound, gorgeous lines. You sound like a consort of viols! I too must single out Nick Zammit, countertenor - loved the twiddles starting at 3:07. Oh, and alto and tenor at 3:15, with the sweet inflé on "mi-" of "miserere. Yum. Want recording.
Wow =) I've never heard this one in quartet style before and it sounds wonderful the intonation throughout was brilliant the Alto line blended very well and the man singing Soprano, your tone was beautiful, although perhaps a tad loud at some points =P Seriously though, well done. The Renaissance was probably my favourite period for choral music

Thank you! We didn't expect it to be good either lol. This is literally the first time we sang together, I had just met them a couple days earlier!
Boss!!!
Agree
+Nick Zammit I also heard you singing the Mozart's version!
Enjoyed it a lot!!!!
Dieu vous bénisse! MERCI.

Absolutely agree!
Stunning. This is what happens when Guys do it the way they want to, and not what is written. Brilliant, absolutely hypnotic.
Somehow it’s a wonderful thing that four dumpy looking guys can make such very beautiful music. That countertenor!
Wow. You guys were *phenomenal.*. I've rarely seen famous professionals pull that beautiful piece off with the class and feeling that it deserves, and you guys made it seem effortless. Bravo!!

:O who's sing that high i cant even dang
Probably one of the best counter tenors ever and one of the only ones that sounds beautiful

Unbelievably beautiful. Angels must have wept somewhere.
This is one of my favorite pieces of sacred music...and now probably my favorite version of it...
The countertenor has such a lovely voice.
Jay Preis Thank you so much.
I am happy to be corrected.
Helen Schroeder The superius is a counter-tenor/alto, singing one octave above the 'actual' tenor (in grey).
If this is "just having some fun", it's scary to think how powerful this would be if you were serious. Excellent performance! Bravo!
This is for real!!! no way, beautiful version, the counter tenor is amazing, are you a group? you have to, celestial sound!!! Bravo all of you guys. :)

Four of the wickedest voices. LOVE IT!!!!!!
I have always loved this piece, and you, gents, have made great music with it... thank you.
The gentleman singing the soprano part has a breathtaking voice.
Absolutely love his "additions" at 3:05 to 3:13!
Holy cow. You four are UNBELIEVABLE. Amazing.
:) Thank you so much, the one standing next to me is pretty spectacular too, he actually sings in Chanticleer!

Beautifully sung and with a male soprano!

Qué bello sonido!!!!!!!!!
Muy bien entendida y lograda la música.
Maravilloso.
you guys are AMAZING !!! Seriously, the soprano voice is so incredible.. Can't believe there's only 4 of you and all MEN !!!
the ending with that great crescendo and decrescendo is sublime!
Talented indeed. This is rather excellent.
Fabulous -- especially the Alto part.
Holy shit, nailed it! Did not expect that...
William Byrd himself would have found that version exquisite! Amazing, and thank you.
still my favorite rendition of this... would love to hear alto sing 'Nisi Dominus-cum dederit' by Vivaldi.

THIS IS GORGEOUS. YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! :D
I agree ..amazing!
This is the best likeness to how this would sound in the 16th Century that I've found. Exceptional reproduction.
