This is an amazing build! A buddy and I went through District Union Legendary and it felt like it was on Challenging mode plus I didn't use a single armor pack. I did opt for a slight modification. So it's three pieces of Brazos (Picaros holster is a must have) and two pieces of Belstone Armory with Momento. I went with Belstone for the 1% armor regen instead of the 20% armor on kill you get with the 5.11 and Palisade. Kinetic Momentum works very well. I run Capacitor and Harmony. So glad I came across this build!!! Super strong and high survivability.
I stand behind the the shieldless shield build and the Brazos explosion resistance build,, I try to get ppl to venture into these but most are so nuts about basic Striker damage builds,, with 0 survival rate. Always great content🎉
#perfect blend tuned for explosive resistance has been my legendary group build lately. Stupid explosions piss me off. They tickle with 90% ER. Worst part is *YET ANOTHER* specialized set of gear. My poor stash space...
Hey Tux! Great update to the classic OG hybrid! Love the 60 round mag, which is insane on the capacitor now that DTTOOC can be rolled on it. I agree that this build needs glass cannon. It’s just powers up everything and you are playing mostly from cover anyway if you’re running this build! The original was GREAT for team legendary. I’m gonna see how this one does. Thanks for a great video!
They honestly both work very well. You end up shooting longer when your head doesn't immediately get shot off when you break cover. That ends up buffing skills etc.
The addition of Palisade is nice for the 1p AoK. It has changed many of my builds (mostly to replace 2p belstone with 1p Palisade and 'something else'), including my Slaughter variants. I find now that it's pretty easy to get 20-30% AoK with a small # of slots, and so my alt rolls of Armor Regen are less attractive (same reason to dump murakami/emp guards) and especially when I already have Memento and 3% regen from the long-term buff (which is kinda a given). Also since TU20 for hybrid builds, I find Brazos to be even more attractive, not just because of Piccaros and the extra skill tier, but the 50% mag size is *very* attractive vs any 1 other piece with respect to opportunity cost. So these days I usually end up leaning more into AoK and trying to balance gun vs skill damage in my slots and secondaries. So I'm generally going to choose CHC and CHD (or find a piece that has skill damage and a crit stat), use the capacitor, and slot crit mods instead of PfE (which aren't necessarily a bad way to go). IMO, I would refactor a few ways. All around 3p Brazos and Memento as the base. First decision is Gunner vs Technician- Gunner is how I lean these days for the AoK and increased gun side of the equation, but Technician is good specifically for Legendary (just vs tech for the damage amp and EMP grenade/faraday field) and more skill damage + skill tier (more armor or another red core). It's harder to farm gear to get the option to run Gunner, since your core flexibility for off-pieces (typically the palisade and brazos) is limited by the native cores. 1 'free' blue (or red) core vs 2 sometimes forces the issue and gear you slot if you want to stay at T6 skills (which are strong just by themselves and only with the capacitor stacked up, moreso now with expertise). Then I decide if I want to build around Kinetic Momentum or Glass Cannon on the chest. With KM, you have *TONS* of extra skill damage for doing nothing (not to mention the capacitor 60% skill damage), so +skill damage rolls are IMO completely de-emphasized, and armor/AoK is similarly less critical because incoming damage is not as high. I want to shore up my gun damage, so I will tend to use double-crit brazos/palisade pieces and crit mods, run Gunner and even drop the Deathgrips for 1p ceska (you end up crit starved in general with ARs and capacitor is no exception, particularly if you waste secondary rolls on aregen or skill damage). With GC, you get the best of both worlds with respect to damage (it's either going to be brazos or palisade- enjoy the unicorn farm), but incoming damage is more of a concern and a play-style to get used to getting downed in the blink of an eye (Fragile Armor directive is especially annoying due to frequently dipping into health and the bug where you can't remove the stacks). Legendary with explosions can be particularly punishing. Here I like to go *30% AoK* with Deathgrips on Gunner (which forces 1 less armor core so only 1.1mil armor/2 blue cores). You can get 50% crit and 146% CHD (or 56% and 134%CHD) with max crit rolls and mods (no ceska) and still have *170% WD* when all the bonuses are stacked up (45% from Memento at full stacks, 45% from capacitor, 10% from watch, 15% gun, 15% spec, 25% expertise, 15% Piccaros). The capacitor (esp now with DTTOC an 62 rounds) will *SLAP* even with just the long-term momento stacks. I sometimes will also add back in some +skill damage rolls to keep my output relatively balanced (depends on how shooty I feel and if you decide to run PfE or not). That will drop gun damage and up skills. You can cut out as much CHC and CHD as you like to sub in 1 for 1 for PfE or +skill damage, assuming you have the gear flexibility around core and secondary rolls. Something to farm for in any event. Hybrids are super strong solo, and like snipers, tend to fall off in groups as health scales up and competition for kills increases. That said, with a turret and drone you can distract and chase runners + do damage while not being subjected to direct enemy fire, which is always super handy (especially for glass cannon playstyle). A shooty build without Ongoing Directive (even with Gunner) isn't 5 directive friendly, and sometimes you have to play around the skills directives too- I find cool skills less of an issue for turret/drone due to the long durations of them (pop the drone first and pick up the turret when you move). Scavenged skill requires YOU to get kills, and really falls apart in groups (similar arguement for Memento trophies, for what it's worth- you can make it work, but can be a pain in the ass). No other directives will give you significant trouble worth mentioning.
Good lord man, you write like someone I know. That setup sounds a lot like how I run my hybrid for group play... except for a handful of significant changes. ;D I swap in the NBB, and run three pc of Umbra which helps with the CHC, CHD, and regen. I typically run Tech Spec, since the AoK from Gunner isn't as predictable in a group setting. And then I run Unbreakable on the chest, since I'm usually the solo tech guy and need to deliver the Decoy, Stinger Hive, or Oxi to specific places and in Legendary that can mean going pretty deep into enemy territory. But once the skills are tossed out, it's easy to sit in cover and build Umbra stacks then pop out when opportunity strikes and then pop back in for free healing. You're not packing quite as much weapon damage as Momento stacks, but the rate of fire increase really boosts the burst DPS which, for single-target-attack-of-opportunity-play-style, works really well. Run Brazos on the chest and Picaro's holster, and you're all set. I put Sk Dmg on most pieces since it isn't boosted anywhere else, and CHC on the mods to get it around 54%. Stack the build for 6 yellows and put reds elsewhere. It's hard to beat the Memento for solo play, really hard. If I were to tweak this build with the NBB, I'd do like you have and swap the skills for the Turret and Drone, as well as run Kinetic Momentum and swap the Sk Dmg attributes to CHC/CHD. Depending on what content you're running, you could add an additional yellow core somewhere and switch to Gunner, but those boosts to skill dmg and damage to skills/proxies are pretty nice to have against Black Tusk (other factions not as much). In group play, the setup as I listed above is still pretty nice at targeting heal boxes and keeping the exploding drones away, not to mention a shot of Oxi will make those horrid awful good-for-nothing air burst a-holes duck and roll. I also keep the Health attribute on the Capacitor for singling out skills/tech as well. If you can chase trophies though, the Memento is still going to give more bang for the buck.
@@SaltyOldBaldurian you can run NBB for sure, and I think I prefer Striker to Umbra (directives come into play with any automatic gun build that isn't OD) were I to run a bigger mag gearset. That or Negotiators which is very strong at spread damage. I don't think the extra brand is really worth the trade of the benefits you forgo (from memento and no pack talent otherwise) if you have to go 3 deep to pick up a 4p gearset as a turret drone hybrid. It can work, especially if you can't stack trophies (wiping/hard death/group competition).
@@grumpyoldman6503 For sure. I've run both Strikers and Umbra as hybrids. But in our group play when I wasn't anywhere near the two 'meta guys' running striker and focus striker in terms of weapon DPS, I found myself squatting in cover way more than pushing the weapon (Capacitor) to do any heavy lifting. I was essentially a preventative measure medic, trying to keep them from getting bombed by drones or air bursts. Umbra is not a 'lead the charge' sort of gear set, but I liked the balance it offered when tending to more involved skills would have drained my striker stacks. But it does leave you in a pickle when it comes to Pistolero, and finding a way to save/get ammo. You could run the Kard Custom and even bump up another red or blue core, but it's just so much work for anything more than a basic mission. (But it does make for a solid deflector shield build, still a lot of work though.) I've run quite a few OD setups, and they work, sometimes, and sometimes they fall flat. It's never been an OMFG gear set for me, just 'OK' in a 'it fixes the issue' sort of way. But, I don't think I've tried it in a hybrid setup... seems like putting mustard on a PB&J, but who knows. It's part of playing the game. I'm kinda like a kid left alone in the kitchen in that sort of way. :D
@SaltyOldBaldurian OD skills is actually the strongest pure turret and drone build possible right now due to a bug (ssh!). When you have hollow points, the amp damage applies to both your gun and ballistic skills (assault turret and drone being the obvious choice). Enjoy it while it lasts but it's a very viable 5 directives build as a consequence (use whatever you like for the 2 off pieces).
Hybrids are awesome, my build is 3 pieces Empress, get that 10% skill health, damage and efficiency, 2 pieces Hana-U 10% skill haste and damage and using memento. Capacitor as my main, a rifle with perfect spike and x-45 with in sync and with my buddy’s tank build, we definitely cruise ….so far, I don’t have any problems soloing challenging/ heroic content, definitely one of my top 3 builds
you got me subscribed with this build , mine is not exactly the same as yours its leaning into CC and CD only 1 SD , secondary wep is LMG run a GR9 with in SYNCH and +15 DMG Exp boost, the 352 bullet mag is insane almost 30sec of sustained fire DTA and DOC helps the drone and turrets , Its a beast and a lot of fun when I start running around collecting trophies. Thanks for the awesome build
You can use two Belstone instead of the Death Grips and Emperor’s Guard. But I haden’t tried this triple Brazos combo with the extended mag until now. Working great I have to say. 61 in the mag vs 41 - now you’re talkin’
Excellent build Tux! I've always been a big fan of your hybrid builds and this is definitely the one that rules them all. It even beats my previous favorite: the Hunters Fury hybrid skill-build! Never could have imagined the 50% extra mag size would trump the Hunter's set-bonus. Took me a few days to farm and craft the pieces. Lack of space made me throw out a bunch of Brazos stuff recently. We really need more stash (+100) and inventory (+50) space... Next season the game could become unplayable when they add 2 more sets. ;-)
I just got my slaughter 2 build completely optimized LOL , the one with 2 Uzina pieces , I have been using Glass cannon on it since day 1 and I will use it on the new one, Ty Tux !!!
I went with the Glass Cannon version and ran with two others for Legendary DUA and Manning. They were on sniper builds, so I was on drones, dogs, chungas etc. Worked so well, including halfway through Manning when they were both down and I was running around like a madman hoping my skills would hide me and somehow managed to survive. Great build, lots of fun, thanks Tux!
Returning player with a question, what do you do against hunters or bosses that emp or nuke your drone or turret the moment they enter the battle and chunk your life bar anytime you aim. I remember doing a build similar to this where it was doing fine until you hit the boss and the drones and turrets became useless.
Scorpio, riot foam, St Elmos shock rounds. It’s pretty common for players to run a skill build on legendary but swap over to a weapon/armor build for boss fights. Take Manning Zoo for example, you will never kill those two bosses with a turret/drone build. For Hunters, ditch the drones, turrets, hives, etc, they will be hacked.
I made hybrid build 2 piece empress 3 striker 1 ninja backpack 5 yellow skill tier. Technician for 6th skill tier. Chest piece has glass canon on empress. The capacitor is awesome, with this build and skills work awesome with 3 empress .
Did you try rocking the 'Mop' with in-sync on it with this setup? In DUA and other interior map areas, your range is often 10m and under, so a shotty can really shine there. I've been using the 'Mop' quite a bit lately with 3 pc Brazos for my 4 directive farm runs and even with 100% has pro and lower crt dmg, it still hits pretty hard. Cheers!
The Mop is a great alt weapon especially for my explosive/tag team/status skill builds. You get the right sort of scaling (12%DtA) and even more AoK from ticks and whatnot. It's a win-win especially since shooting the capacitor has a build up vs insynch just having to pop shot. The other thing that works well is regular shotty with preservation or even spike (fire and forget). Slaughter is durable and strong in a solo context, so I prefer to lean into the gun damage proper using capacitor (see my comment above for my thoughts), it's so good you are foolish not to leverage it, just like Memento. Just dumb strong for hybrids and now you can even put DttoC on it.
@@grumpyoldman6503 If we're talking 4 directive stuff, then I've started to really enjoy my Mop build w/ 100% has pro. I can't get away from 100% has pro anymore. I ran the Backfire with it for so long, it's like a warm blanket, especially against Outcasts. But I put on the NBB, 1 pc Cavalier, Cheska chest w/ Obliterate, Picaro's holster, 1 more pc Brazo's, and 1 pc Uzina or Bellstone (I'm an Uzina man myself.). Put has pro on each piece which will get you at 100%, stack CHC elsewhere to get around 54% for Obliterate stacks, and then fill in with CHD. Put Pummel on the Mop for free reloads. I run a high mag capacity rifle as the secondary with Boomerang, and an X-45 Tactical with Salvage (love the range on that pistol). You'll be getting 11 shots from the Mop, up to 61 from a nice selection of rifles, and 39 from the X-45... and each talent gives free reloads or returns ammo. I put on the shield and the revive hive. That setup pretty much lets you ignore most directives and a lot of enemies that cause problems for everyone else (True Son glue dudes, Outcast flamethrower ladies, Electric baton ladies (the electric part at least), and you can pop all the red bags full of fire and green poison stuff all you want and never flinch, plus, no shield daze on shield break!). Keep a blue core on your Picaro's and you'll have a 4-tier shield, and 30% AoK. To quote Charlie Tweeter, "It's nice. It's very niiiiiiice."
@SaltyOldBaldurian if that works for you. Even with spec ammo I don't really see the value from 100% hazpro in the infrequent status effects, most of which I can avoid regardless. I do think it's an all or nothing situation. The 1 place I agree running it is vs hunters in heroic CD as a control build, but that is super niche. Running hotshot sniper with bloodsucker stacks a bunch of bonus armor which does a lot of similar, if not completely invulnerable thing (bonus armor tends to not make the status get applied). Bottom line is IMO you give up too many stats but with NBB it's tolerable. I hate the back-load of backfire but at least it's not stuck with mag size now. MPX is fine, but I don't like how long the ramp is and that all the stacks go 'poof'. By the time you stack, everything is dead, or you lose them all waiting in the next spawn wave/check point.
@@grumpyoldman6503 That is very true about the Backfire, it hits like a tank but takes awhile to get there and then dies just as quickly. In group play it's actually pretty good, especially 4-man Heroic where there's never a shortage of enemies. But I went through build after build with that weapon trying to find a 4-directive solo build that would hold enough damage to clear content, but it just took too long to get moving and if you didn't get stacks along with some other substantial dmg buff you'd just get overrun. With the Mop and AoK, you can rush enemies and keep moving fast enough to not get swarmed, and you keep your weapon reloaded with Pummel (most of the time). And if crap hits the fan, swapping to the rifle for long range work with 60 in the mag is a helpful alternative. It's definitely an in-your-face play style. I was trying to run Ongoing Directive with a lot of builds to get around Pistolero, and it worked fine if you ran straight damage/CHD, but once you took away all that CHD to get 100% has pro, nothing seemed to have enough umph to keep up with the enemy pressure. Hence going to shotguns, and tanking it up, which tends to leave you open to haz crap. But if you're immune, not even a thought. That guy can spray me with foam all he wants, I'm going to find his turret buddy first. I guess I like the way it changes up your pecking order in terms of who to deal with first. And for sure, against Hunters and even the occasional Rogues, has pro is as good or better than a shield, IMO. But it's definitely all or nothing, I won't even bother with just 90%. I gotta have the whole pickle. ;p
Armor on Kill is playing a role in this build. Does it ever make sense to use Armor on Kill modes instead of Protection from Elites? Also, your Capacitor has total damage of 132k and Expertise level 17. My total damage is 108k at expertise 20. All attributes at maxed and I have DMG to target out of cover. What else boosts total damage that I might be missing?
So, the mechanical isn't really as useful because of the damage disparity between it and capacitor. A 17 capacitor will require a 25+ mechanical . Instead I would use a Rpkstyle LMG w in sync or a shotty that heals, and a sidearm shott that heals the tech.
The Memento backpack makes me want a weapon perk from Destiny 2 called Shoot to Loot, you can shoot ammo bricks and orbs of power to loot them. Imagine being able to shoot the Kill Confirmed pickups. Keep it on a Sidearm and just shoot a pickup to get the short term buff. Wouldn't be useful in most content, but would be awesome in Legendary stuff when you're in cover most of the time.
Based on how much you are shooting I would go with Spark instead of Kinetic Momentum. Also if no shotty secondary the moment you get rushed you're toast.
Your gun is going to hit harder full stop. But the beauty of hybrids/turret + drone builds are- 1. Distraction of enemies so they aren't shooting YOU nor teammates 2. DPS more or less being constantly applied even when you are otherwise not shooting your gun (like you are cowering behind cover or otherwise out of LoS) #2 being the reason they are popular in legendary and why skill builds get shit on from the AR + shield + reviver hive crew. They are the "afk eating a sammich" build for doing things like clearing CPs (or solo legendary).
i just don't get how you have 13% Protection from Elites, thought it only went to 12%, also, where do i find those kinds of mods, i am having a hard time finding Protection from Elites mods.

Next season the game could become unplayable when they add 2 more sets. ;-)
right on. always nice to discover something new and fun in an older game
I just got my slaughter 2 build completely optimized LOL , the one with 2 Uzina pieces , I have been using Glass cannon on it since day 1 and I will use it on the new one, Ty Tux !!!
Still extremely green and so much to learn. Limited weapons and gear for many of these builds but I'm learning. Glad to be here.
That mag size goes over to the specialization also it brings the mag to 9 missles 😅
really? hah
Remember... aim them like a javelin, point it at the sky.
Awesome build, even though I haven't optimized it yet still doing the job. Keep up the good work.
What would you sub for death grips while we farm for them 😅
put on Belstone for regen
I was subscribed when 2.0 came out as secret. This build is is bonkers
Brooo ! I’m gonna try this build . I never could get through a legendary mission solo… maybe one day
Elite Drone Lady. Best. Description. Ever.
I gotta have the whole pickle. ;p
I don’t have the act setup you have and not at the same setings, but this build is great.
Memento is so goated. I struggle to take it off
im with you
Bloodsucker on the backpack its a good idea! This build is OP thanks man! Makes so damn fun ❤
He probably has Memento stacks at that part in the video. So he has an extra 30% weapon damage.
loving this build...🎉
You rock Drake! Thanks for the kicking some this way!
So, the mechanical isn't really as useful because of the damage disparity between it and capacitor. A 17 capacitor will require a 25+ mechanical . Instead I would use a Rpkstyle LMG w in sync or a shotty that heals, and a sidearm shott that heals the tech.
This build slaps!!!!

This was always one of my doubts, if a skill build (adding skill damage and weapon damage) is more solid than a DPS one, which of the two hits harder.
Your gun is going to hit harder full stop.
But the beauty of hybrids/turret + drone builds are-
1. Distraction of enemies so they aren't shooting YOU nor teammates
2. DPS more or less being constantly applied even when you are otherwise not shooting your gun (like you are cowering behind cover or otherwise out of LoS)
#2 being the reason they are popular in legendary and why skill builds get shit on from the AR + shield + reviver hive crew. They are the "afk eating a sammich" build for doing things like clearing CPs (or solo legendary).
Thank you Grumpy @@grumpyoldman6503
aahhh do it flawless, no cuts such a shame to cut it is all mega great.
IDK how people use the mechanical animal. Harmony seems to be a better guaranteed return for the effort.
I use the suspect ar.
I use it on all the manhunts to 😉
I tend to use my negotiators skill turret drone build, but only if I turn off the ammo directives, otherwise back to snipers for all directives.
i just don't get how you have 13% Protection from Elites, thought it only went to 12%, also, where do i find those kinds of mods, i am having a hard time finding Protection from Elites mods.
13% PFE is one of, if not THE rarest drop in the game. I've been playing consistently since launch and I have yet to get even a single 13%.
Just RNG. 13% PfE mods find you, not the other way around.
