      @@imnotdream4602I don't think that's a stretch tho Vincent has been dishing out incredibly long and smooth cuts, and every single work is so consistent and polished his cut on ep 175 where luffy throws lighting and kaido's destroyer of death was one of the most insane cuts ever and he still regularly appears on one piece

      @@JustAsh001 i'm not saying it's a stretch, that's the guy above my comment😅. Vincent literally animated an entire fcking city block in ep17 of JJK ss2 and plenty of other incredible sequences anytime he appears. Calling him the current best animator is not even an exaggeration to me. But there are countless number of amazing animators out there, so considering Vincent as the best one is still a subjective take tho

    • @malvernwijaya439
      @malvernwijaya439 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      To some degree, kinda. But you can't just rely on AI for stuff. Bc at the end of the day, AI is really just a couple lines of code, it can't really understand those things fully, and were not even considering artistic expression. At that point AI might end up ruining a scene instead of helping it work, bc it can't understand artistic creativity.

      @@ChilledBacon I can see that, but as soon some of the dialogue scenes contain character acting, dynamic storyboards, complex perspectives, more fluid movement, color theory or more AI is completely out of the picture. These are all things that are made out of artistic expression and to help make the scenes more interesting to look at. For example: Goshozono using fisheye shots and dynamic storyboards in S2 of JJK, or chainsaw man's absurd amount of character acting. Projects like those makes AI completely useless in that area bc it might end up ruining a scene instead of helping it. The only way I could see AI helping is in mouth open mouth close dialogue scenes or generic still frames. But that would probably be more fit for the more generic low quality anime.

    The thing about AI in art is that there's an actual right and ethical way to use it
    i.e you develop your own model ( or atleast use one that's untrained in general ), feed your own work into it and then generate references that you can use for your own art. The animators for spider-verse actually did something like this, and even some indie-game devs do it.
    The problem is that no company ( anime studio or otherwise ) or " tech-bro " wants to actually do this because it's far more cost effective to do what some companies are currently doing
    i.e replace staff entirely with AI generated content or just generate images trained on pre-existing artwork and say it's your own

      THANK YOU!!!! This is exactly what I've wanted to point out for ages.
      Actual AI is really just taking the artistic process to the software you use really. After all, engineering itself, especially with software, is often more art than science.
      People who are interested in both art and software development can make it a new feature of something, but there aren't that many of them who use AI.

    • @sebastianmalvaroza7535
      @sebastianmalvaroza7535 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think when discussing AI in the animation industry, it's important to distinguish between generative AI and AI in general. Like you said, Spiderverse has used AI for the stylization of their work (namely the linework you see on the characters' faces, like wrinkles and dimples) to reduce workload by training their model to accurately place those lines where they belong.
      However, there's no use of generative AI in the production and that's the important part. Generative AI hurts artists and is complete garbage. There's nothing good that can come out of it.

    Couldn't agree more with this guy. As an art student I think there is no problem with artists using Ai as a tool for inspiration or to explore their ideas but I think no artists would want to implement AI in their work. As someone who finds art as therapeutic and a way of escapism I would not let Ai take that from me but I think anime companies would love to use it since they would have to invest less which will lead to the destruction of the artistic beauty of ANIME. I like anime cuz when I see a beautiful scene I can imagine the passion and hard work of the team of artists, va's and producers behind it. It gives me GOOSEBUMPS but if AI enters the scene it would not be the same anymore

    2:47 I can't stand it when people say shit like this (the Hot Take I mean, not the reaction to it). Reducing works of art (be they an anime or manga or whatever else) to its most surface level traits is easily the weakest, most foolish, most dishonest way to criticize them. It's no different from a person taking a quick look at Berserk out of context and saying "This is just edgy torture porn", or taking on look at 2B from Nier Automata and saying "This is just a pretentious sex bot game", or pausing a cut of animation in the middle of the sequence to poke fun at how the individual frames look, as if animation isn't DEFINED BY THE SEQUENCE IN MOTION.
    I genuinely hate how common this kind of thought destroying "criticism" has become on the internet, it's like we champion who can think the least.

      @jj6184 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Said perfectly honest JJK does have problems most pieces of art have problems but seeing the same 2 word criticisms that say the same 2 words is just brainless. It seems like we are getting further into bandwagoning mentality where what people want to see happened encapsulates the story the author is trying to tell which makes discussion on any art feel almost meaningless. Furthermore it feels like people point out to individual scenes and criticize it more often then looking at the context for individual scenes using JJK as an example people complain about fights but these fights are set up from the starting episodes of season 1 and have huge impact on where the story moves forward as a whole.

    personally i think since ai is inevitable it should be used more as a tool as opposed to a replacement. with time and proper feeding of image models that are ethically sourced (like actually paying people to create the models for the ai to reference), it can probably help with in betweens, coloring and shading. it would not/should not be used as a "insert idea get idea done" kinda thing, but more of a "this can help speedup the production a bit and cutting down costs that *S H O U L D* help pay the animators more (unfortunately the greed of higher ups will prevent this obv).
    obviously still have a cleanup crew to go through the frames to make sure they are proper and whatnot.
    make the best use of something that is an inevitability.

    Late answer to your rebuttal of my take : I think you're posturing. Obviously more aspects of the production are more grunt work than others, that's why animators work digitally and not traditionally anymore. You'd probably say the pressure to switch was economical, but the truth is that it allowed for better animation to be made because of faster feedback resulting in being able to fail faster and therefore improve faster. It also allowed for individual animators to work on their own project and make a breakthrough in the industry like Makoto Shinkai. AI as a tool is not different from that switch to digital animation and if anything is narrow is your understanding of AI and where it can be implemented in the pipeline and how flexible it could be.
    Can you tell me the name of your favorite 'color artist', or 'in-betweener'? I don't think you can because the range of artistic expression is very limited compared to the effort required, and in the context of an industry, some jobs are more valuable than others. They just are.
    I recall Shirobako adressing this, when the scare at the time was more about CG impeding on 2D and the message was more or less this : Those who actually have a vocation for this and are willing to learn the tools at their disposal will survive.
    Your arguments I gotta say were just hot air and I feel were only designed to get some cheers. If you've read this, hopefully I've made you reconsider your opinion.

    • @ProbablyPretentious
      @ProbablyPretentious  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Firstly, there are still plenty of animators who draw traditionally, I'm sure this number will decrease eventually, but digital animation, in concept, is the same as physical animation. You draw lines and stuff with a pen, it's not that different. While I can't name my favorite in between animator or color artist, I can tell you that both these steps are crucial learning points for people who eventually become key animators and color designers (I'm speculating a bit in case of the latter). Streamlining of these steps through AI will reduce on the job learning opportunities, a concept that's already at an all time low, leading to the widespread decrease in the quality of an average anime.

      I think ur forgetting about the people who actually want to get into the animation industry in Japan, people who apply to be in-between artists are trying to get into an industry which is already a pain in the ass on its own, AI being implemented to do jobs which need human contact to be necessary will ultimately take away jobs and respective career opportunities,
      Although I agree with some of what u said, AI shud only be used to do minor changes such as in editing with particle effects, lighting so and so, to ease the pain on animators and not necessarily the artists job
      I hope this was clear

    anime as a medium is always changing and ever growing. a new generation will come along and view a different show as genre defining and so on. there will be another show as good as aot, it just wont look like aot

    "Dangers in *Ur* Heart" is overrated.
    I mean, what has it brought to the table that
    1. Tora Dora
    2. Your Lie In April
    3. Sono Bisque Doll
    4. Beyond the boundary etc didn't bring?

    Hot take: I personally think Mappa animation is NOT good, it's a lot of CGI, to many frames in animation. Too TOO smooth, example chainsaw man has too much frames which make the impact look soft. IMO. I wish I could've said this earlier. Aot last season was 🚮❌. And there company has a whole bunch of issues with low pay, problems etc.
    But I honestly also think there old animation was good. Like jjk first season, hells paradise etc.
    .. This is my opinion tho and how I feel. A1 studio is my personal favorite, like mashle, solo leveling.🔥💯

      @@ProbablyPretentious Bruh! I just don't get Kaiju no.8 fans.😭
      They just need to hear any and everyone glazing and praising every bit of the show trying to fill up their delusions that it's a worthy replacement for AOT(not that AOT needs a replacement. Kaiju no.8 can be a story of its own)
      It's like going upfront and saying that the "first 200 EPS of OP is "like" unnecessary ramble and fillers about Luffy rescuing his crew that's incapable of not getting harmed and the animation is ***sh" . The fans would dig out your IP and trace all of your socials 😭

    3:30 to be honest jjk is actually made of action only like if you think of it and says its Shonen and all so i don't think it makes sense cuz even while being shonen we all know that story also matters and if you are following its manga currently then you can find out what do i mean from this

    Here take my hot take,Mushoku Tensei is the best isekai with the one of the most great cast of characters who actually feel human & their realistic developments

    • @ManOfMonkey
      @ManOfMonkey 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Not really a hot take; Mushoku and rezero are the most popular isekaj, they are like the big 2 of isekai.

    • @stolentoothbrush3492
      @stolentoothbrush3492 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great cast? Most of these characters are just stock isekai characters that get abandoned after major arcs.
      Plus the only time they act human is when it's something to do with loss. These characters rape and sexually harass people but that doesn't matter cause the author is porn addict that seemingly thinks sexual harassment is only for gags and jokes.

    Saying AI has no place in creative industries really shows a profound ignorance on how computers work. If you use any digital machine in your work (which the anime industry has in mass for at least the past 2 decades) you have already used AI tools no matter how much human effort was put into the final work it is still a product of programs which use AI to function.
