Had no idea what I had in my hands. I was ready to hook it to my motorcycles carburetor until I watch this video. Thank you so much for the instructions. I now know how to use it correctly preparing myself for open heart surgery thanks again.
You’re very welcome and thanks for the chuckle about the carburetor! Sending lots of healing energy for your surgery and we are here after if you need any help getting back your strength 😊🙏🏻
Recovering from neck fusion surgery and was just told to breathe out. The level of details in this video is invaluable! Was hospitalized for 4 days after and found my lungs were not inflated from a CT scan, totally unrelated to my hospitalization. Chose to take lung expansion more seriously. Knowledge is key! Thank you for taking the time to provide great medical instructions!
I’ve always known about the incentive spirometer but never realized how important it could be for lung health until I watched this video. Your clear explanation and demonstration made everything so easy to understand. Thank you for shedding light on such a valuable tool!
An excellent tool to help us increase our breathing, especially the volume of our breathing. I haven’t got one yet, but watching you using it makes me think it would be very beneficial. You’re such a kind gentleman which makes such a great difference. Very many thanks indeed.
great video… helped a lot.. was trying to blast it to the top … didn’t know the smiley face was to maintain the small wheel in that middle point as you “slowly” inhale 👍🏼
Thank you for your clear instructions! Such a big help to see this in use, and more than once. We all need repetition to learn something new. You were very encouraging and very upbeat, lending confidence and emphasizing the importance. Thank you for the cleaning instructions as well.
Thank you! You provided better instruction than my nurse! I’m scheduled for surgery tomorrow and they gave me this and said practice using it…didn’t explain why or the benefits anything. So thank you 👍🏽
You’re very welcome! It depends on why you are using it then this will dictate the frequency. Please speak to your Doctor for your specific situation 😊
Thank you so much for your help. I also watched the one on blood oxygen levels and it has helped me to understand all of this much better. I feel better already 😊
I have moderate asthma & now my pulmonologist says I have stage 1 COPD (never smoked). I've been a lap swimmer for 40 years and, at 75, still swim usually 3x/week for 30 mins, at a slower pace than in younger days, but non-stop. Would an incentive spirometer benefit me, or is swimming enough? I used to walk or bike on non-swim days but due to an ankle injury, can't do that for now. No dr has suggested an incentive spirometer, pulmonary rehab or anything. She seems to imply I'm not that bad, but I'm not "that good" anymore either. Thanks for your helpful videos! I learn more from you than any of the docs who just don't have time any more.
It’s sounds as if you have a great foundation but just need a tuneup to get back on track. You would definitely benefit from our 1:1 Zoom sessions or our Self paced Online Pulmonary Rehab program. I would be happy to help you with education and Pulmonary Rehab and Posture Therapy exercises. Here’s the link: PulmonaryRehab.com

@@pulmonaryrehab I don't go past 2000 , does age, height play a role ?
@vivianchudi yes, there is usually a chart that comes with the incentive spirometer to give you suggested values 😊
@@pulmonaryrehab I am 32 years old female and I am 5’3 in height. What should be my goal?
Around 2000cc is average for your age and height but check with your Doctor for your specific numbers 😊

Is this beneficial for pulmonary fibrosis
Please check with your Doctor first but yes, many PF Patients have used this 😊
Hi can anyone tell me if it's the top or bottom of the piston that should be reaching the required reading.
Hello, thanks for the question. It’s the top of the piston 😊
@@pulmonaryrehab Thank you for prompt reply, that makes it a bit easier : )
You’re very welcome, I’m happy to help 😊
You didn't mention cleaning the mouthpiece
We did, it's at the cleaning section 08:47 😊
if you use a rescue inhaler should you take a dose prior to doing the exercises?
You could do an experiment and measure before and after you take the inhaler. Please let me know how it goes 😊
Until when i used this spirometer?
Thank you for watching! That’s a great question to ask your Doctor 😊
I don’t understand if I am supposed to record the number at the top of the plunger or at the bottom.
Hello 😊
If yours is similar to the incentive Spirometer in the video, it’s measured at the top of the valve.

yes I did the wrong way of breathing exercise.. I had pneumothorax last June to july
I hope you’re feeling better now and I’m so glad this video helped you 😊
I can't get the mouthpiece off the tube
Usually a gentle twisting while pulling firmly will help 😊
