on the website for the collection it stated that heroes vs villains will be available on every ground map :) i think it's really satisfying that proper new content like this is being added it makes the collection feel more definitive
I’ll always say this for any multiplayer game, but having bot matches available for a single player (or splitscreen) is a really great way to keep the game alive. It helps keep the experience alive and makes it “feel” like you’re playing with other players. I at least think the bots are intelligent enough in Battlefront I and II to cover that basis.
Mister Nostalgic, this video was so bloody good, I will have to share it with my little brother; he loves this game just as much as I do! In fact, when we were younger, he and I would play this game endlessly on our PS2. We had the first one, Star Wars: Battlefront (2004), on the original Xbox. Bloody great times. Thank you again for sharing this video! Brilliant stuff indeed! 👍👏🤘
Wonderful little retrospective video of one of my all-time favourite games, Star Wars Battlefront II! Although I still own it (along with its predecessor), I have not played this old gem in years. After watching your video, I can indubitably say that I learned substantial insight into the game [that] brought me so much joy back in the day. In other words, I have a greater appreciation and understanding for it now. Marvellous! I sure bloody enjoyed the video! Great job on this one, lad! Grazie mille! Arrivederci, Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧🇮🇹
Star Wars Battlefront II?! Woah! We agree with your thumbnail; this is a blast from the past! My boys loved this game! Everyday after school, they would play this on the original Xbox console. Simpler times…. This was a lot of fun! Thank you for sharing, Nostalgic!
Playing this game right before I went to watch clone wars in theaters is what I reflect on today. Battlefront 1 and 2 were gems to me and I’m so happy there being brought back
The thing about space combat is while yes, it can get very repetitive especially if you are playing against bots, it was revolutionary at the time and we still haven’t got something quite like it!
Advice for playing the officer classes like Republic Commander and Imperial Commander is to get as many troopers to follow you and use your buffs with them, having a death stack follow you around, like a Commander.
I love the video and of course, Battlefront 2 2005 but I won't lie, it's getting very tiring seeing my YT feed being Battlefront this and Battlefront that knowing that it will never be this good ever again. A lot of SW games are arcade-y in nature but whenever you see in the movies, people die from one shot. I wish we had a game like that, something with more lethality.
Battlefront 2 is not only a great game, it is an amazing Star Wars game. You can play matches daily and it never gets old. Rise of the Empire is also the cherry on top of the game. With the re-release, all we need is the Rogue Squadron trilogy, then everything is complete.
The battle ship mode, i fee like you are right it does get kind of annoying at time, but there is fun to be had there. I remember doing goofy shit in those lol
but will say the maps are hella much better then those ships! so many good maps in this game, you know its good when you still remember them form childhood
The Clone sharpshooter doesn't have a different skin for Mustafar. Also the Clone Jetrooper has a unique pistol called the commando pistol wich has a faster fire rate and overheats slower than the regular pistol. Just some things I wanted to point out.
I hope the originals don't get pulled when Classic Collection comes out. It's a shame that Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition got pulled after 20th Anniversary World Tour came out as well as both One Unit Whole Blood and Blood II if you like the sequel for whatever reason. Blood: Fresh Supply still remains but you were able to buy the original DOS version of Blood on Steam/GOG for a good while so I would blame licensing. My original comment was going to be doubting that Classic BF would be pulled but then I checked on Blood. They still have Shadow Warrior Classic Complete which packages the DOS version of that at least so 2 out of the 3 3D Realms Build Engine games were affected by subsequent ports it seems.
I loved both of the Battlefront games and sunk tons of hours into them, but I won't lie even though I probably replayed Battlefront 2 more for it's superior features there was a large part of me that preferred Battlefront 1 over it, namely due to the fact that for whatever reason even though the OG xbox was capable of running the 32/32 for Battlefront 1 they decided to downsize it to 24/24 (I think) for Battlefront 2 for some reason, that combined with the more symmetrical indoor focused map design they went with it just really downsized the scope of the battles for Battlefront which was a large part of the appeal for me from the first game.
There were actually two sequel games to Battlefront 2 that were exclusively on the PSP . Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron! Elite Squadron was my favorite of the two because it expanded even more of the Legends Cannon like the main campaign of Elite Squadron followed two Clone Brothers that were actually clones of a Jedi Master and they both had the force. It takes place during the events of Episode III and it continued all the way AFTER Episode VI Where one of the Twin Brothers become a Jedi under the instruction of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker while the other twin brother joins the Dark side of the force which of course leads into a battle between Brothers! There are other legends characters that make an appearance like Jedi Master General Rahn Kota from Force Unleashed. If you are a fan of The Original Star wars Battlefront games, I would actually highly recommend that you look up and play the two PSP sequels if you can. Especially Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron! And if you have a PS Vita and a PlayStation Plus Account you can actually buy and download them both digitally on the PS Vita. I'm sure you can also get them on a PSP emulator as well.
Now I don't know if the XO game mode is different but if you want to see your settings and mess with the reinforcements you could do that on any map and have like a 500 life limit
You missed out big time on not using the engineers much. A rundown of all his tools in order of most use to least: -Engineers can pick up their own health kits, automatically making it one of the most survivable units in the game for the simple fact that you can heal on demand. -The shotgun can oneshot units in close range with good aim, but it still does decent damage at midrange because it still benefits from getting a headshot with a pellet. Plus, there's no damage falloff which would usually cripple a shotgun at midrange in a modern game. I think it does more raw damage (not critical) than a sniper which makes it ideal for sawing through droideka shields if you get the drop on them. The award shotgun is devastating and only takes 8 kills to get to unlike the award rifle which requires 12, or the award pistol that requires you to get 6 kills with a comparatively pathetic standard pistol. Not to mention, an 8 kill threshold is super damn easy when you have access to on demand healing compared to the other thresholds which require you to meet them without self heal. -The detpack works wonders in congested areas like polis massa as a trap, but it also does better damage against vehicles thermal detonators iirc. The detpack can be detonated IMMEDIATELY upon throwing it, even before it can hit the ground. I used this to assassinate a Darth Vader once and almost made a friend ragequit. -The slicer is the least useful, but it still lets you milk tanks for all their worth through repairs. Additionally, if you manage to slice into an enemy vehicle, you get vehicular health regeneration until your death. You also don't need to be using a vehicle to want to repair it. Keeping a friendly vehicle alive while it's actively shooting makes it that much stronger. I always used the engineer whenever I played this game. The class really had an answer to everything at the same time. I'm pretty sure the online mode disables awards guns, but I'd still pick shotgun over other classes most of the time. The only unit that can really shut him down is a sniper, but snipers have less health than other units, so you can usually still contest them at mid range as long as it isn't a wide open map like, say, kashykk or geonosis. Plus, I never played online and the coms weren't nearly that good with snipers anyway.
Thats true when I was recording the footage for this video I had to play as them more and they actually where fun to play as but my narration was already done
Not a tie in but it sure felt like it. The official movie game was the tie in but you could tell the developers of Battlefront 2 had alot of fresh Episode III material to pull from. It really allowed both trilogies to shine.
So there’s one thing I’m not sure about. They said that the classic collection is going to be 64 player, when the original was 32 player. But does that mean you can have 64 players on every map including galactic conquest etc, or does it just mean you can play the XL mode on console now? I mean, will it still be restricted to Hoth, Geonosis and Kashyyk?
Hope you guys enjoyed the video!!
I did.
I sure bloody did! I had a lovely time! Thank you!
Thanks for uploading, haven't played this game for a long long time. Forgot what blasters the different classes had.

The amount of Battlefront II retrospectives I have watched since the classic collection announcement is absurd.

0:57 - Actually, BFII was released on November 1st, the same day as the ROTS DVD.
And if you had an Xbox, a demo of BFII was on the bonus disc. Would never had bothered with the Battlefront games if not for that.
