I love how prince just knows what kind of a correction he needs to give based on the dog he’s with, he’s so gentle with the puppy and gave him a bark when he needed it but if it’s a dog his size he knows to turn the heat up. He’s a special dog ❤

Agreed. Prince is amazing. Crazier still, Joel says that Bosco was even better. How Joel trains his dogs to be these unicorn stable helpers, blows my mind.

I think we dog loving people sometimes tend to hold on to the traumatic part of a puppy or dog’s past, when dogs live in the moment. Of course we want to do what we can so they succeed, but once we’re making progress we must let their past go and celebrate where they are now. This adorable puppy is absolutely in the right place with Joel and Prince to guide him. Kudos to the owner for reaching out, I’m sure they will have a great life together.🐾🐾

Dogs are amazing. Go through such horrible things and bounce right back to being good boys. With a friend like Prince, I think the pup is going to be okay.

What a great, loving and knowledged owner. He knows a lot and is good at reading his dog but yet he went to Beckman to make this puppy's start in life as great as it could be. THanks Beckman for being such an amazing honest and experienced trainer and all the best to this guy and his puppy

Interesting. My dogs all play very rough with each other and shake each other up even though they never actually hurt each other. But at dog parks, they are much more polite and reserved.

Sounds like your dogs are well-socialized and have good impulse control! They know how far they can push their "siblings" when playing, but when it comes to other dogs they don't know as well, they dial it back ;D

My son adopted a pup that was picked up running around the streets of Denver with a broken leg - she was picked up, treated and spayed ( way too early!) and put up for adoption at maybe 3. - 31/2 months… so young!🥲
She grew up to be the best dog I’ve ever known!

I'm glad I found Beckman as he carries perhaps all the ideologies I carry. I've firmly believed my entire life that the best tool to train other dogs with is often another dog.
So it's nice to see that there is a person on a professional level that thinks alike and is so successful.
Shown many of his videos to my mother that thinks alike, and it even got her to make use of her gentle leader again, as she has tried it previously, but due to not knowing how to properly use it she stopped, all she needed was a video of Beckman showing how it was used to pick it up again, and it works wonders with one of her dogs she has always had some issues walking with.

With respect to the owner, it sounds like he was impatient and didn’t know how to deal with a puppy. Everything he described is normal for a puppy, especially when you first get them accustomed to leash walking. But all props to him for taking the step to get educated. Hell, I used to be him.

I’d be interested if the owner does a dna test. This dog look like it is either cross of maremma sheepdog or some other livestock guardian breed in him potentially. I myself have a maremma sheepdog and they can be very stubborn, aloof and very confident dogs even as puppies.

    Hey Beckman family 🐾💌,
Once you deal with enough puppies you see the adorable cuteness but you also see the rude, stubborn, attitude and dominance in the future 🤦‍♀️. They are all so adorable especially when they are just having fun with each other. Too cute video 🥰

    Hello Beckman family,
One of my dogs has been harassed and bitten by small, reactive dogs. They often scream at her, then try to bite her.
This has led to us no longer going to the beach and dog parks, because she’s a big dog, and if she corrects an aggressive little dog that attacks her, she’ll get blamed… which has led to less exercise.
If I bring her for a session, do you have any small aggressive dogs, so we can solve this issue? She would be fine with Prince, or any nice dogs.

Love your methods and learn so much from your videos. Can you talk about ways to help reactive dogs if we don't have access to big calm dogs like Prince? Would you ever have two reactive dogs meet each other the way you have one meet Prince? What can we do at home without access to Prince and 10 other calm dogs? Thanks Joel

I'm not Joel or a trainer, but I’ve watched every video and trained my dog to do it this way. Here are some suggestions from his videos to start with. Move to the next step when you and your dog have mastered each step. Training in the step order is necessary as each lesson is made to piggyback on you and your dog having perfected the previous method.
Binge-watch Joel’s videos. An easy way to find topic-related videos is to do a TH-cam search via the magnifying glass icon in the top right of TH-cam.
Start your training with step #1 and so on.
      1. Type: Beckmans Dog Training My Motivation.
      2. Beckmans Dog Training Get to Know Me.
      3. Then ALL the videos on Beckmans Dog Training Be the Boss, or
      Beckmans Dog Training Boss
The Boss videos set the tone for all of his training methods.
      4. Beckmans Dog Training Doorway Method.
These videos are the start of your training your dog not to leave you and check in with you.
      5. Beckmans Dog Training Loose Leash Method.
I like to also read the comments for helpful info.
      6. Beckmans Dog Training Reactive/ People reactive/ Dog reactive/ Leash reactive,
      6. Beckmans Dog Training Recall or Come
Also, watch all the videos for each step, as each video gives more information on the method until you and your dog are perfect.
      I hope this helps. 🌟

I am so sick of pure positive. I achieved so much better result with points from Beckman. This guy is now my go to.
Pure positive is toxic on the internet.

    • @kellerayra7363
      @kellerayra7363 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It doesn’t hurt to acknowledge both types have their merits. I like to take a page from Joel and peers’ book.. they stated that there is room for both techniques but they have their own merits in their own “lanes” They are being positive about stating their case by avoiding confrontation as much as they possibly can. Ironic IMO

    • @hedition9346
      @hedition9346 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kellerayra7363 I can agree. However pure positives have zero tolerance for even the slightest non positive approach. In pure positive reddit, even using 'no' is like breaking the Geneva convention. Positive is great for the dog, I cannot debate that. But when tackling a problem (emphasis a problem, not just basic training) just doing pure positive takes a toll on the human mental health, when sometimes a simple sharp 'no' does the job quicker at no risk to the dog. Its all just timing. If a dog is in an act of an undesirable behavior, I feel it is perfectly fine to snap at the dog and stop them.

    Hey Beckman family 💌🐾,
My Rottie mix came from that same situation. I think him and his sister's were in the rescue for 5 days before I adopted him. He still has this bold and domaint way not as much as when he younger. He's now 2 yrs old. He is leash reactive to some dogs not all which I don't get🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🥰

I have a similar situation with one of my dogs, a pit bull. She’s 11 and I’ve had her since she was nine months old. She is great with other dogs and easy on a walk, unless she sees a husky. For some reason, huskies get her twisted.🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Hi we love your videos and technics ♥
We have one major problem with our 3 months old puppy Pomeranian. We have open top fence (2metres by 1 meter) poddy pad and cushing for him. We play in house twice morning and evening to spend energy. %80 of time he pees on poddy pad (we reward every time) but almost every day he pees & poops on his cushing too. If we dont see him poop, he is eating it too. We use enzyme smell removal or changing the cushing with new one but he keeps doing it.
He is very lovely and attached to us but he is very spoiled.
We think that Peeing & pooping on cushing is not punishment move, it's not that he doesn't know it's just he doesn't care.
He doesn't even smell before doing it.
He also doesn't care for pee smell, most of the time he sleeps on poddy pad. We are cleaning him, removing all the smells but he is not picky.
What can you suggest us? is there any way to teach him being meticulous about cleaning and peeing?
    Thank you

Greetings! Anyone here have input/advice tips?
Received a 6week old Rottie puppy. Breeder: left puppies to fend for themselves with food and separated pups from mom at 5weeks. Breeder felt overwhelmed with 11 puppies in a ranch with very few other people helping her.
I have had him for 3weeks. He is super sweet but will have sudden freak out attacks and tries to bite me. He had food aggression issues and hand feeding him and making him work for his food has helped so much (now I can touch him with no growling while he eats)

My rescue was straight out of an 'old religious order' puppy mill barn - with nothing but darkness and barking for the first six months of her life. 1.5 years later, she trusts me enough to sit on my lap. She still doesn't know how to drink properly from a bowl and aspirates - apparently in puppy mills like that one they just use large rodent water bottles.

    Joel,
I have a yellow lab. Hi intensity, reactive and strong. He has american lab bloodlines which are breed for upland game hunting. That all said, I have researched other trainers online and one thing which several noted, and admitted is anecdotal, is such dogs with tails that curl up and over thier backs are often very high strung. In your experience have you noted this? Mine has this trait.

    • @SuziQ.
      @SuziQ. ปีที่แล้ว

Are you sure that he’s a purebred Lab? I’ve had Labs for 25 years (hunting stock), and none have had curled up tails. None were reactive, either (though some Labs are; we’ve met a couple).

My dogs a malshi and he doesn't deal with people and dogs well, when we're on walks he barks and sometimes tries to bite people when they walk up to close. Other times like at petco he ignores people and let's them pet him when being held. He also is like this with certain dogs, he barks at dogs when walking but doesn't when we're away from home. I don't know why he does this sometimes can someone give me advice? I'm 14 years old and really want my dog to have a fun experience with everyone.
