    It is a very common ingredient of Indian foods. We have been using it since ages. In fact, the name Tamarind is originated like this- Tamar-e-hind=Tamarind. Thanks. Useful information

    I grew up eating this wonderful fruit as a kid in Caribbean. I also chewed and sucked the juice out of leaves. I just loved that tart sour taste but i would never swallow the leaves. I never knew eating tamarind was healthy.

    Tamarind fruit is not well know to whom? This is a common fruit in every Caribbean island. We have eaten this since childhood. Tamarind juice & tamarind balls are my favorites.
    Another favorite of mine is Locust fruit. Locally it's known as Stinking Toe.

    Make a video on how to remove tamarind seeds before blending . Tamarind seeds are very hard enough to break blender blades and the fruit itself is sticky. Please just show how to blend the the fruit alone without the seeds.

    Tamarinds are used in Desi (south asian) foods. Easy to get in Indian stores. If you are in USA you can get them in Mexican Produce Markets. Mostly they got sweet tamarind. There are many varieties.

    Blend tamarind with those hard seeds??? Is that feasible without damaging the blades??

    • @celenebalvaneda4848
      @celenebalvaneda4848 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The video doesn't describe the process to clean the tamarind.
      It comes in a hard shell, you need to crack it by either squeezing it with your fingers or hitting it lightly. Just like a hard boil egg. And sometimes also little pieces of shell will stick to the tamarind fruit.
      It has long streams around the fruit, normally take them away but don't think it'll hurt anything if you use them to blend them, I figure they must have a lot of nutrients. Once you have pealed it off (mostly) since some pieces are really stubborn. Leave them soaking in warm water for at least an hr or overnight. That will soften the tamarind and will allow you to massage each one of them to take the seeds away.
      Once there's no seeds you can do anything with the pulp.
      As mention in another coment, a great percentage of Mexican sour spicy candies are made with it, fresh water is also very typical.
      Once you cleaned them blend them with plenty of water and some sugar or stevia ( depending on what you prefer) there's no specific amounts since some people like it sweeter than others.
      Once blended you can either add ice cubes or leave it in the refrigerator and drink it cold. It is amazing. Mexican food stores and even Walmart besides selling the fruit, also sell tamarind sodas and concentrate to make fresh water.
      You might want to try that first to see if you like the flavor before getting into all the work to clean them and make something out of them. Since it is more sour than sweet not everybody might like it but there's nothing wrong with adding a bit of stevia if you like it a bit sweeter.
      And nooooo!!!! Don't leave the seeds it will definitely damage your blender blades, besides the seeds inside taste kinda bitter. Just like banana peals and pecan shells
