    Hi, great information without a lot of superfluous information. Though the music wasn’t loud I still found it distracting making it somewhat difficult to follow. I’m not complaining, just mentioning so you’ll have feedback from your viewers. Thanks for the info.

    Jose, thank you for your great videos I really enjoy them. IMHO there is a big need for thorough reviews of truck driver gps devices. Harming, Magellan, Rand McNally all seem very hit and miss in quality, lifespan of software and map updates and how much attention to truckers needs; truck routes, bridge clearance, traffic delays etc. Please provide truckers with a current good better best truck specific standalone gps review. Health and happiness to you amigo.

    I really love your content. I bought this very same Garmin right before my last road trip and never want to go back to using my phone, even if I do get a smart phone at some point(very doubtful). I'm still looking for something for podcasts and music, but your last suggestion may work. PS I wish Light Phone made a laptop. Any suggestions for computer work? I am going to grad school so I need the internet connection, but I get distracted wayyy to much on Facebook or TH-cam.

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the comment :). Glad to hear that you have found a standalone GPS to be worth it! For computer work, it depends. If you are trying to use the laptop only for writing and researching, I recommend you go Linux. There is way less distractions on the Linux environment and you can still get the basics for grad school (browser, writing apps, presentation, etc). Elementary OS: elementary.io/ is a great alternative and one I plan on using for most of my needs in the near future. I am just waiting to build a desktop environment and use it there. If you have any other questions or want to chat, make sure to join the discord since that is a way for me to communicate faster :)

      @@JoseBriones Haha I already use Linux and Elementary OS. I keep hoping for something better than this though.

    I picked up the drivesmart 71ex for $230 yesterday. I got to fooling with it, and it has some good features, but it didn't have screen orientation. For $230 that's a deal breaker. With it not have this feature, it restricts where you can install the GPS. I'll be taking it back for a full refund.

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I can get a unit, I’ll get around to it. I know the main difference between the DriveSmart 65 and the 50 is the new apps that it has, the screen, and the app compatibility (not relevant for the LP2, only for smartphones). Besides that, the maps are the same and the line assist and other nifty features will be there. Again, I’ll see if I can get my hands on a DriveSmart 50 and compare :). Stay tuned :D

    I've had the Garmin Smart Drive65 + Traffic for a few years and until now only used it for navigation and it worked with no real issues.
    Today, in anticipation of a cross-country trip, I decided I wanted to pair it with Bluetooth devices. It recognizes but will not pair with Oontz Angle speaker. No surprise there. It recognizes but will not pair with my iPad 8th Generation. That's not good. It recognizes but will not pair with my Android Moto G6, as it keeps connecting and disconnecting, over and over. That's really bad. (Edit to add: They're right next to each other on the desk.)
    One more thing: The mileage for some reason is now off by half. I know for a fact I'm 80 miles from one of my saved addresses, and it shows 39 miles. Another address is 214 miles away, and it shows 101 miles. Something is very, very wrong with this GPS.
