Umineko is so great and perfect that it's impossible to tell it to others, if you don't read the novels yourself there is no way to understand the story and the real plot.

It have a visual novel and it's amazing too I recommend theanga because it have scary situations.... But overall, the manga also nails the storyline of higurashi
random fact for you in that case: In the anime it takes 2 episodes (about 40 minutes) to get to the murders while in the origional visual novel (and the manga) it took around 6 hours. They skipped a little bit XD

amir shemesh I finished reading the novel. While I liked it, it has some issues. I feel like most of the story arcs ended up not mattering due to the fact that most of the arcs were forgeries and rumors, not actual accounts of events. Don't get me wrong it was still an enjoyable read. I just like more of the story of what actually happened on the island. I really ended up liking lion as a character and his backstory. Same with angie. But for how fun of a ride it was my main gripe is how irrelevant most of the story became in later arcs. When you find out the truth it becomes kinda pointless.
Darkslayer Ryuu I have to point out something, At least from my point of view the point of this VN isn't to give you a specific answer, The point is to give you enough info to conclude something by yourself while you read and gain new info, That's how I got it and that's what I liked about it so much :) but different people have different ways to experience this kind of stuff so I guess it depends only on the individual.

I gave up waiting and recently started reading the visual novel. It is WAY WAY better than the anime trust me!! They left out so much inmportant information in the anime that you'll be confused even if they did get around to making a 2nd season.
@ChocoholicAnimeFreak the other series is higurashi no naku koro ni or Higurashi when they cry (higurashi is the name of the town its in). Umineko no naku koro ni or When the seagulls cry is a reference in the story to the fact that none of the people last till after the typhoon when the seagulls would come back out and "cry" you know, like skuack. The series were both made by the same guy with a similar idea, you know repeating of a certain period of events where alot of people are killed.
Are you talking about ending of anime? Anime ends at 4th episode "Alliance of the Golden Witch", there are still 4 more in visual novel. I recommend playing it, but I can also hear your theories and answer questions.

(When the Cicadas cry - Solution) Therefore, we call these the "when they cry" series =P Because when B___ claims that she should return to being F_____ R___ it is TRULY mindf*ck.

Actually, Higurashi = Cicada's. They're the wierd chirps you hear throughout the anime. Hinamizawa is the name of the town.
