He has a great channel, I think you'll like it! I know he did one other backpacking trip while he was in New Mexico, and it was an area familiar to you and I, so keep an eye out for that!
Great video Nate. I am glad you were able to capture the video well considering you conserved your battery live over 2 nights, 3 days. The views, stone lion, and the painted cave was really cool! I can imagine in the hotter months that there would be less water available. I hope your ankle continues to get stronger!
Honestly, I have been to the upper Alamo crossing 3 times, 2 of which in drought, and it is always flowing. I think it is a pretty reliable source. Other than that, we saw a few tinajas, but nothing I would rely on apart from documented water sources. Thanks for watching! Ankle is getting stronger every hike!
Great video, and narration, Nate! More importantly , though rewarding, u did a pretty hard hike with aching foot and ibuprofen. Hopefully, your foot gets healed quickly. Take care, and rest well.
Awesome! The hike to the stone lions is one on my bucket list. You went at a great time before the hot sun makes it less pleasant in later months. Great job at rationing out the battery life of your camera! 2 Thumbs Up! 👍👍
I did this loop on Memorial Day 5 years ago, and the daytime temps on the mesa tops were pretty brutal. This is definitely a trip I'd recommend for shoulder seasons, even if there's a chance you get unlucky like we did and get snowed on one of the days... Thanks for watching! You can't miss the Stone Lions!
It’s surprisingly not a popular place for backpacking despite it being so close to major cities and having the national park service pedigree. I have a lot of theories as to why that Layne had to hear this whole trip 😆
Great time Nate thanks for taking me out in New Mexico! “It’s pain, you can fight through it” 💪
Looking forward to seeing your video, Layne.
It was a pleasure to have you! Next time we'll have to have you out either in warmer weather or maybe head down to the Guads ;)
@@Hiker33 Yes sir, it'll be a bit before mine comes out but fortunately Nate has plenty of New Mexico adventures to tide us over until then!
@@OneMansOdyssey Yeah buddy there is more exploring I hope to do in NM!
Awesome video! The sunrise on your last day was amazing.
Layne has a new subscriber, and I will enjoy watching his adventures too. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoyed the video, Nate! I've never seen any backpacking video from out there. Really cool area.
