The Gen 2 has so many ECU restrictions, once you flash the ECU, this bike is so much better. Now I'm back to stock gearing and its pulls like crazy from 2k rpm
Noticeably from the start 1st gen guy doesn't know how to shift! Old (steel frame) vs New (aluminium frame) = 100 pounds. The new fz1 should win every time. I ride a 1st gen personally I think they are considerably more comfortable.
Lol yes the older generation has noticeably more torque than the 2nd gen. I will say from riding my friend's bike that its a bit harder to shift and it tends to hit false neutral which is why he wasn't shifting as fast as me. But yes, his bike is much more comfortable than mine haha. And yes my bike has much better top end power so it definitely takes the cake in straight line performance. I do wish the 2nd gen had as much torque as the older gen. I love a healthy mix of low and and top end power and the 1st gen has a perfect mix in my opinion.
@@willysendit1328 don't bother, mr boy scout is the best rider out there, he's actually a part-time pro on the Isle of man. 🤣 In all reality, keyboard warrior over here would keep up with us for about 5 seconds and he'd never see us again. Oh and this vid was before i replaced my 18 year-old original clutch cable, remember that frayed POS that ended up legit snapping on me? 🤣
Have a ZX10R, and man is it uncomfortable. Picked up a non running 2007 FZ1 9k miles for 2 grand, replaced the fuel pump and coils and she's good as new. 10x more comfy than my ZX, and still quick as hell. If I didn't have the ZX Id go down a tooth on the front sprocket, you considered a sprocket change?
Zx10r is a supersport bike, compare it to an R1 bruh. Can't compare a sport touring to a supersport. Try the z1000 and the fz1, both comfortable. (BECAUSE ITS A SPORT TOURING) Compare those in the same categories
You can compare any bike to any bike. The point here being that the fz1 may not be as fast or nimble as the zx10r, but the trade off is comfort. Plus at those power levels on public roads you're really just splitting hairs. Nobody needs even half of the power of either bike lmao. Either way both bikes are great in there own aspects and it's fun to see the difference in performance across all different classes and spectrums of classes.
Yep. Have had my 01 for many years, bought it with carb already jetted plus exhaust. I can only say it runs flawlessly and haven't had to fool with anything in the 16,000 miles I've put on it. Prior owner did tell me how much better it ran and I believe him but also probably a bit exaggerated. I know one thing about my fz1, it will suck some gas when you run her WOT

Ya I have an ECU flash and -1/+1 gearing. If you watch my more recent videos you'll see the difference haha

You're the same guy that said it tops out at 154 right? 🤣🤡 you either weigh 300 lbs, have no balls, or don't even own a motorcycle.

@@willysendit1328 Ah so I'm not the only one hitting false neutral.

Wtfff that looked like a huge difference! Way more then like 10 horsepower an 20 pounds or so.
He's got an aluminum frame... I was riding on a tubular steel frame. That coupled with FI vs carbs, you get this result lol.
@@idk.who.am.i it's a good performance improvement in a already fast bike. but, the old one is cooler 😎.

I actually did a sprocket change already. -1 front and +1 rear. I also got a tune by vcyclenut. You can see in my most recent video the difference.

I run 16/45. Factory front sprocket that came on gen 1 was 16 tooth, and fits gen 2.
Just order a 16t for a 2005 fz1 from Partzilla or wherever.
Also have the vcyclenut flash for my mods including 16t front. Whole different bike 😃
You gotta run it again
I wish I could but I moved across the country 🥺
2009 Fz1 that’s what I got YAY YAY
Add an Ivans jet kit and it will wake that Gen 1 right up.
He's going to do a jet kit. Just a matter of time
