- Scoliosis can be devastating, but when Lauren was diagnosed with it in 2009, her family pulled together to give her the strength to overcome the spinal disorder. Six year later, the non-surgical treatment with a scoliosis brace had paid off. She's now scoliosis-free!

I was really lucky with my scoliosis.
I had started with some back pain in 7th grade and eventually we got it checked. They said I had minor scoliosis and to come back in a few months and when I did, they said it was getting worse, fast. They decided not to brace it yet since it was at 16%. When I went before my school in 8th grade started, I had to wear a brace since I had 23% scoliosis. (Lumbar spine btw). I started wearing it and it was very difficult. I felt dizzy sometimes and very uncomfortable. Eventually I grew to like it. I would wear it a lot. Soon, they moved my appointment to 6 months from 3 months. Eventually, I grew out of the brace and it was incredibly painful and uncomfortable. At this time, my scoliosis was lowered a lot and was back to 9% and the brace was working. It wasn’t considered scoliosis at that time, but they still wanted me to brace it. I went to the people who made the brace for an appointment and they finally reached out to the scoliosis doctor I had and they made me have an early X-ray about 3 months early. This is today. They checked it out and when he looked at the X-ray, he just said, “This back is as straight as it can be” and I just celebrated. Eventually, he said that I am done completely with the brace and that I didn’t have to wear it anymore. It was an uncomfortable journey but I am glad to finally be done with it. To anyone that has to wear a brace, good luck, and I wish the best for you! You will overcome this one day! 👍
The total time I had wearing the brace was about 10 months so I was incredibly lucky, and I really hope you can be the same. Unfortunately all people can’t have this luck, so I wish you the best on your journey!

I have lumbar scoliosis as well and today is my second day with the brace, I'm 17 years old. Hopefully it'll get better i think my curve right now is around 25°
@@arizamumtihan39 Keep on trying, with enough work, you can probably overcome this!
@@yousefmaher8206 I had a similar curve, just consistently wear it. I know it gets uncomfortable, but you have to. I almost risked getting surgery trying to cheat it.

i think most get their brace built too tight, my brace used to be unbearable but after they loosened it a bit it felt really good to wear, and now i don’t even wanna take it off

I have 71° curve im 13 and I have to wear a brace for like 9-8 months then in the summer I get my surgery yay! I'm very excited about it

Hi! I just went to get an X-Ray done for scoliosis. Just waiting on radiology to give me my results.
I was diagnosed w few months ago. I got it because I broke my leg and my legs are uneven and my balance. It’s very small now but I’ve been experiencing a few back pains but not often:).

I'm 13 and I'm gonna get one soon, btw can you wear it under your shirt or does it have to be over your shirt? Because if it has to be over the shirt it looks like I'll be wearing hoodies for the next 3 years because I don't want anyone to see it

I had it since I was 12 and I’m 13 now too, they gave me a thick tank top to wear under but if they give you that just wear your own tank top☺️
How much it cost?
I couldn't find a good doctor and it's been 2 years since I found out..they told me I was too late so I'm really confused I don't know what I should do..for these past years I started doing exercises and taking med and I really want to get a brace
I would say try your best to get a brace. I would never really say it’s too late. I know this is 6 months ago but can I know your percentage? Or do you not know?
Hi! I am researching this in search for someone who has scoliosis like me, my doctor says he has never seen a case as odd as mine. Basically my curve switched sides, which never usually happens!! My doctor is going to go around the country and give talks about my spine now 😭😂

Yeah I got mine a few days ago and it’s hurts so badly I’ve never felt claustrophobic in my life but like I can’t help but feel a lot of anxiety wearing it

This doesn't work for everyone though. I had a curve of 60 by the time i was in 4th grade and it progressed to 110 by the time I was in 6th grade all while I wore the brace. I had to wear it for 18 hours a day for a year and it didn't do anything. Now I have 2 rods and 26 pins holding my spine together. So yea, bracing isn't the best solution.
Damon oh my god, does the rods decrease the angle though?
Guess it's different for everyone, I wore my brace for only one year and my back is straight now!
