- Mumbai is a natural harbor on the west coast of India, and is the capital city of Maharashtra state. It is India's largest city, and one of the world's most populous cities. Although Jakarta only covers 699.5 square kilometres (270.1 sq mi), the smallest among any Indonesian provinces, its metropolitan area covers 6,392 square kilometres (2,468 sq mi); it is the world's second-most populous urban area after Tokyo, with a population of about 30 million as of 2010. Jakarta's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, have attracted migrants from across the Indonesian archipelago, making it a melting pot of numerous cultures. Jakarta is nicknamed the "Big Durian", the thorny strongly-odored fruit native to the region, seen as the Indonesian equivalent of Big Apple (New York).

I've been to Mumbai, and I Live in Jakarta. The only bad thing about Mumbai is the horn. People honk the horn like crazy there! Stuck in a traffic is already stressful, it's way worse with the horn.
I've been to Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, and Jaipur. My fav city in India is Jaipur. It's cultured, people are nice, and less stress. Just like Jogjakarta of Indonesia. Will definitely coming back to see more of Jaipur! ❤

I would chose Jakarta by a long shot. Very modern, economically attractive and clean city with nice buildings and incredible shopping malls.
But for a megalopolis of around 40 millions inhabitants, public transportation should be better. Bus and taxis are ok but the increase of vehicles with a lack of subway made the city hard to cross. Now that one subway line has been finally inaugurated after many years of corruption, I hope there are many more to come. It had to take people like Jokowi and Ahok to finally bring this project to reality.

Soon maybe sometimes in end of 2020 or early 2021 LRT Jakarta with length 47KM, and High Speed Train from Jakarta Bandung in mid 2021 will be inaugurated...and this march 2020 Jakarta MRT Phase 2 has started! and 2021 High Speed Train from Bandung to Surabaya start to build and Jokowi has been inaugurated thousand KM of highways across Indonesia in these 6yrs :)
@@franssiregar9734 Yes a lot has been done by Jokowi. I used the brand new highway to Medan when I visited Toba Lake in 2017, and we landed also in Siborongborong Airport which was just renovated by the time, and we went to Batam afterward.
We planned to go to Jakarta and Komodo island/Labuan Bajo in summer 2020, but due to COVID-19 all has been cancelled, and we visited my family in France instead.
I hope the next president after Jokowi will have the same devotion to his people and not be corrupted and to much hard Islam oriented.
What is great in Indonesia is its diversity and open minded people!
In 20 years and 6 times I visited this country, I find it has unfortunately decreased due to religious issues. People should go over it, but I know it is not easy. We have the same problems in Europe.

Peoples in comment dont know that countries at equator don't used to built glass skyscrapers and actually cemented skyscraper are better because it was more durable, less greenhouse effect, have balconies , low maintainence, and low budgets to built if you have low labour cost . While Dubai have made some skyscrapers of glaases and now they understand their mistakes. Indonesia built skyscrapers made up of glaases because it looks clean or shiny and can constructed in less time span because Indonesian have high labour cost than india.

Each city has its own characteristics and pace of development. Jakarta opt for concrete steel and glass tubes while Mumbai are mostly defined by its concrete towers.
Indian cities can't have glass building due to geological reason.....

Jakarta has wider roads, modern transportation vehicles , lot of skycraphers and looks modern.
Mumbai is so classical,but has so many skycrapher projects. I hope, one day i will visit all india cities such as Varanashi,mumbai, delhi, hyderabad, banglore, chennai, lucknow, shimla etc.
