Wow! Very smart! Like you said - there is necessary to think out of the box! Your video will cause my current save deletion (progress 35%) and restart the hard mode play :)
I’m taking this start and modifying a couple things. I used the GMC, stole the metal beams from the trailer at the garage, took the trailer to the farm, hauled the concrete slab trailer to the road, and then went on to repair the rockfall with SSParts by the beam loading zone in town. Then took the GMC to Smithville and cleared the rockfall there. Next is to tow the chev to the turn where we go to save the WWS. It gives me the chance to steal a bit extra fuel for the chev. Taking that path across the river, I get the diff lock upgrade for the GMC, follow that fairly easy path to Island lake, and continue from there to the Kodiak upgrade, the tranny upgrade for the fleetstar, and the P16. Then the fleetstar saves the Kodiak.
Is it that since you pulled the truck in with flat tires, and put new ones in in the garage, that you don't have to fix those tires when you do the final repair job? Same with engine, suspension, etc? The idea being, you're going to put new parts in there anyway, so do that first, before doing the repairs, and save some money? Extra commas, because why not ,, ,,,,,,,,,,,
Yes that's exactly the point. Why waste all the tires from the service trailer if we are going to sell them right away. Same with suspension and repair points. You got it. 👍
I have to ask because fuel is a problem with getting to the p16 the long way round, where do you refuel? the chevy is not that fuel efficient to make it to island lake where you find fuel trailers. On smithwill there are none on the right side of the map either and the route is blocked. I can accept you refuel in island lake from the large semi or the scout trailer before drummond and then the semi in drummond, but I don't see how you make the long hike across smithville.
Great question (and one I've been waiting for someone to ask). Once you reach the bottom of the hill leaving the garage in Smithville you can follow the shoreline to the left (east) and it will take you to the 'Lost Trailer' task. There's a scout fuel trailer there to get refueled with and that will get you all the way to Island Lake, as long as you're still using the stock engine and not the 5.8 liter. That's the only free fuel on the map other than what you find in some of the vehicles for the rescue tasks i.e. the GMC with the 'Repair the Truck' task and the Chevy with the 'Unlucky Fisherman' task.
@@zorshix was thinking about that, but since offroad tires are not the best for that mud, I usually wait for mud tires before moving to smithvill. Anyway...will give it a try, already finished Michigan on hard mode once, and did the Ziks 605 rush once. Will be interesting doing it "backwards" in a way with Drummond/Island lake jobs first before first map :D
@TitelSinistrel Yeah the all terrain tires are sufficient to get through there as long as you stay within winching distance of the trees, just in case. Have fun with it, getting the P16 right away helps a ton with getting Black River rolling in a painless way. Also, the 605r rush is a wild experience right?! I've done that one as well and was probably my favorite hard mode playthrough to date.
Great tips! After some years of just playing "normal mode", now I am enjoying hard mode after doing what you described in your video. So... thank you! I'm back in Michigan, yeah!
Ah, hahaha! Tricky! I dig it! I came to look for a start up guide on starting Hard Mode, and you literally published my dreams! Crazy! My son and I still love yer videos, and still LOVE SnowRunner. Thanks for making this ridiculously fun to play, instead of frustrating! Yer awesome, and a full on Hard Mode guide would be killer!
Glad you're still enjoying SnowRunner. This video was supposed to be a one off but I have about 4 hrs of footage that it took to make it. It would be a good start to a hard mode series.
@@zorshixdude... If it makes any monetary sense to make it... DO IT! Or maybe keep it as a side project to work on for a few minutes here and there for a while, and release it later. Whatever the case, I hope ya can work it in to yer schedule!
What's a good use for the Chevrolet Kodiak? I currently use the Fleetstar and White Western Star as my main work horses. 9500, Transtar, and TwinSteer as my long distance road haulers. And the P16 as my heavy hauler. Currently I'm toying around with it as a rescue truck of sort with van body or fuel tank on, but I'm not sure. It feels capable, yet still off without that AWD upgrade in Alaska.
I'd like to see the normal playthrough continued instead. I use these vids as a treat before I go to bed after an exhausting day and I'm missing new vids :D
I'm definitely continuing with the normal playthrough. My question was if people wanted to see a detailed breakdown of the 4 hrs of footage I have to make this video. I'm not planning to start a full-on hard mode series at this point but maybe in the future. Besides I'm almost to my favorite region in the entire game, Kola Peninsula, can't stop now! 😎
I’m always lazy with the Kodiak and Transtar in my saves and just recover/repair them as it’s not terribly expensive to do both I like this approach though, it’s even better now that you can just buy JAT off-road tires right away if you have that dlc
I'm such a money scrooge when I play hard mode, I never pay for anything that I don't have to. At least not until later on when I have a decent chunk of change and then I pay for auto-loading, that's about it. 😅
I tried your suggestion to fix the Fleetstar for only 50 points from trailer, and bro you made it look so simple. It took me a good while to do it, but i was sittin pretty on cash, rank, and a few trucks by the time i got there though. Lol. Thanks, you have great advice.
Definitely it takes a while, I spent about 4hrs getting it done. Like you said it gives you a decent head start having more cash, upgrades, and trucks. Plus... You get to start the game in a way that takes you right into the action vs just trudging your way through Black River tasks with highway tires. Thanks!
First tip if people want to play this game is normal mode, the game is a challenge so hard mode makes no sense. If i had to start again i would start from Michigan and use my Chevy to explore the maps and get upgrades. Then i would sell my free DLC trucks and go to Taymyr and buy Azov 64131. I could use this truck to get White Western Star from Smithville,Western Star Twinsteer from Island Lake and Pacific P16 from Drumond. Twinsteer can only be good with AWD but needs Kola so i could just sell and wait to get that upgrade and buy it again. Then i would go to Alaska to look for CAT 745G and more upgrades. Now i would have a truck for medium logs and a truck for long logs. I would use Azov 64131 to do many jobs and buy Loadstar 1700. Some vehicles i rescue are useless but make me money when i sell. Another thing i could do is to use rss in trailers from the map and then sell those trailers. Azov,Pacific and CAT combined with Loadstar 1700 at the beginning can help a lot. Taymyr has the most powerfull scout in the game to find for free.
Also, hahaha, I love that there are so many viable ways to approach this game. I just finished up Lake Kovd, after playing through the first 3 regions, and realised I never unlocked the white western star! Time to go back for a rescue. Send the f750.
@@CatFish107 I can get a free Tayga easily in British Columbia, just find in the second map and rescue. Also a White Western Star in the first map😆 At Taymyr i have to repair and refuel and it's in a very bad place. Azov 64131 i just buy. White Western Star is like a better version of Fleetstar,300L fuel tank is a rare specialty between american trucks and good with upgrades. CAT 745G people have to try this with fuel addon or medium logs. Kenworth 963 from British Columbia, only a 2 flaws but clearly the best truck i know in the game and i hate russian regions. Terrible goat trails, sucks.🤮😪
You can also get a free Tayga in Glades on the first map, with a heavy crane addon (which doesn't unlock until rank 4 in the garage). Don't even have to fix it, just discover it. 🙂
Never thought of using the upgrade parts for the 2070, my advice was pay for the repair of the 2070 and then take the service trailer to Smithville Dam to repair the WWS 4964.
Cool video. I'm playing the snowrunner, and about 2 days ago, i streamed to Twitch (ps5), but I'm a noob! So yes, i like to learn the best ways to play the game👍💯
hmm nice video! Very good what you do. However I started my own hardmode and have not upgraded anything lol. I have the kodiak and fleetstar but still on stock wihich is a hassle to get around the mud but hey I play the game how its not intended 🙂
Did I forget something or you don't have the money necessary to buy either the autonomous winch for the scout nor the improved engine for P16, unless you earn some first
Yeah sorry I didn't include that I sold the top engine upgrade for the Chevy at the Smithville garage. The P16 engine is found in Drummond Island by the Ten-Hut Task.
@justinace9518 That's exactly right, any part you change out will be a new part (engine, gearbox, tires, suspension) and will not need repair. If you put the old part back in it will still be broken.
I want to do hard mode but my xbox randomly does not recognize my dlcs. No big deal if I'm not using any trucks, but if I use the jats at $5900 and the dlc is not recognized then it puts stock tires on and I'm out the $5900 and have to repurchase. And in hard mode that's alot of money. Anyone know how to fix this? I have reinstalled it all twice now with no fix. Plz help I love this game.
When you reinstall, are you referring to reinstalling the game itself? If so, does it give you the option to delete all files associated with SnowRunner when uninstalling it? The reason I ask is sometimes when uninstalling it will only delete the game but leave some associated files behind to speed up a future reinstall if you choose to do so. Sometimes those secondary files are the source of the problem and choosing to delete them also can give you a full fresh up-to-date installation of everything. This might help the problem. I used to play on Xbox one and I'm pretty sure I had that option but not positive.
That sounds interesting, however I'm currently doing a normal mode walkthrough of the entire game (about to finish Kola Peninsula) and wouldn't have the time to do another series at the moment. Great idea though. 👍🙂
Sorry about that, I hadn't meant to leave steps out. The main ones I didn't cover where selling the big engine for the 1500 once I got to Smithville garage, and refueling the 1500 at the bottom of the Hill (there's a scout fuel trailer to the left for the Lost Trailer task) before heading into Island Lake. Hope this helps. 👍
