Great review. I see I am not alone in waiting for this excellent test video. Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX SE owner. I am an enthusiast of the Suzuki GT and now of the GX (Love the electronic suspension)!
Being a gsxs1000gt owner I just wish they had the electronics suspension on my bike. I can say from experience that this will be a hit for Suzuki, a little late to the party but ready to dance.
I say on one yesterday at the NEC bike show, for me on the front a very comfortable place to be but as a sports router you would need to carry a pillion, the rear seat is tiny and doesn't look comfortable
300 km per tank is a little optimistic ... in your screen the consumption showed 7.2 l/100km which translates to 263 km if you tottaly empty the tank , so I would say about 240-250 kms is more a real number. Anyways, very very good review sir!
I was also thinking that. On my 1050 V Strom I get about 350 kms from a 20 liter tank, until I feel unsafe and need to refuel (technically I still have about 10-15 kms left until empty but yeah :) ) and I average about 5.4 L/100 on an officially stated 5.2 and I am by no means an aggressive rider. I would think an official 6.2 and a sportier engine would produce at least 6.5 in the real world and on a 19 litre tank that would mean about 280 and if riding more sporty yeah, probably down to 260 or so.
Ok review. While the upper body position looks comfortable, I think the foot pegs should have been forward. The knee angle is more sporty than it should be on a tourer.
@@Greggspies don't think engine size is the issue as moto guzzi do the shaft drive with smaller engine however i believe the high revving nature of an inline 4 sports bike engine is not suited for drive shaft.
Agree. I had a Suzuki GS1000G shaft drive. 1981- 1990. 90hp I think. I added an S replica fairing. Cruising 120 to 130km/h. I brought it because I rode all year round. Wet weather is hard on chains. Regards from New Zealand.
Personally I’m fine with chain and sprockets. However, if just for marketing reasons, I’d love to ask Suzuki why they didn’t employ their excellent (simple and effective) final shaft drive. PS - By far this is the most comprehensive preliminary discussion of this bike. My only suggestion is to superimpose specification data on the screen - thanks!
Great Review! You could be a Superb Newsreader. You can ride a Bike that is for sure. I have the GSX1000 and it blows me away, i am not experienced enough to get the best out of it. I am the B Mode man. I was concerned at your price comparison at the end with the BMW ? Which was £6k more than my Suzi? Heated grips are only what £100 or so. I still believe BMW is over engineered, over rated very poor reliabilty record and well over priced! Suzi every time Bullet proof! Far far better value for money. Great review thanks
Good work there. Are panniers an extra or are they already included on the price? Does the screen work with a spring, no tools needed, yeah? At high speeds, would you rate th GX above the Tracer (that has many high speed stability problems reported) and the Versys? And by the way...😀 if you could... guess... the top speed..😄 what would you say it is? Regards.
panniers are extra. mainstand is extra. heated grips extra. windscreen = tool needed: I rate GX highter then Tracer. The Versys has better wind protection and a little bit more riding comfort.
WONDERFUL MOTORCYCLE/ very impressive - I like it!!!! However (being a downer) with its US price of approximately $18.5K, one may ask why not get the approximate $3K/ $4K more expensive BMW S1000XR, which has a bit more electronics & 3-year warranty?
Since this id the first time that suzuki use so much electronic i would not rush into purchase. I know for example that tiger 1200 has various problems with same technology.
IMO the previous GSX S1000GT+ looks like competition for the Yamaha FJR1300, this GSX S100GX looks like a Yamaha Tracer 9GT+ clone. They look fantastic & both should be very popular. However, the comparison to the Tracer 9GT/9GT+ is in error, as the 9GT has electronic suspension, only the Tracer 9 does not. Also, the Tracer 9GT+ has linked braking plus radar enhanced braking & cruise control, which the Suzuki does not. Likewise the Suzuki doesn't seem to come with heated grips as standard while the Tracer 9GT/GT+ does. IMO the 3 cylinder CP3 engine of the Tracer does have a tiny bit of vibration compared to the GSXS1000GT's sweet K5 4 cylinder unit & I guess the GSX S1000GX would be similar, but I've never felt underpowered on the Tracer, an issue helped along by it being lighter by comparison to the Suzukis. One area where the Tracers leave the Suzukis for dead is fuel ecconomy. I'm getting 52mpg out of mine & that's with often crappy commuting traffic.
is the torgue lower on suzuki in low revs? I have ridden the tracer 9 GT and i felt it didn't have the torgue i wanted it to have in low rpms, but ... i drive a bandit 1250s and i am used to it
@gerokatseros I'd have to refer you to Google to find the torque curves for both. But like I said, I don't feel underpowered on my T9gt....the Suzuki I tried wasn't mine, so I had to be cautious, but it did feel brawnier. Honestly, I don't think I'd notice unless both were fully loaded & carrying a passenger at which point I bet the Suzuki would pull away from the Yamaha in a race.
My friend, don't take my advice as an offensive, but I think you should put some effort on your articulation skills while speaking English. Over all, a good review.
I could see the bend in your knees. That would be way to aggressive for me. I might be able to ride it for a couple of hours. By then, my knees would probably be so stiff and I'd be regretting it. 😂
that's a big "NO". $5,000 more for the same bike as the GT. sure it's has better adjustable suspension and an extra feature on the screen. but it's the same bike. it has the same frame, the same engine, the same gears, the same tires. the same dash screen, the same basic shape... all for 5K more. they did move the mirror back to the handle bars,,,i personally don't care for that.. i can't see past my shoulders with handlebar mirrors.

For taller riders the knee angle might be an issue. I wonder if the pegs can be lowered.
That is a puzzle. The rest of the execution points directly to easy long distance riding. Anyone know of lowering kits?!

We need that suspension and adaptive cruise on the gt
Danke schon for the review. I felt the foot pegs are much rear set, could have been a little more at front.
I had the opportunity to sit on it, and the seating position is close to perfect! The bike feels surprisingly compact and easy to handle

Good question. Not only does a “long distance” chain ‘n sprocket bike needs a center stand as standard, it should be designed to work like magic.
