One thing I like about the Spyro games is, depending on your mood, you can easily choose between the PS1 games or the remaster and the gameplay and controls will feel pretty good either way. The PS1 games hold up so well.
Spyro 1 was always my favourite! An it's still up there as one of my favourite games ever! Toasty is my favourite soundtrack, but almost all of them are absolutely bangin'! When it comes to Dark Passage, I love how the sky background is tilted
Totally agree with all you say about Spyro 1. I was 7 in 1998 when the demo disc came out in october, I remember that, at that moment, my mother came back stores with The Adventures of Alundra. I was playing this freaking and incredible PS1 Zelda-like and, with my pocket money, I bought the Playstation Magazine with Spyro. It was fantastic ! I got the game for christmas 1998, and it was the best holidays I had back then. The sequels were nice, but, after all those years, when replaying the three games at my 15 or 18 or 21, I was like : "Meh, minigames and Spyro's friends are cutting the pace of the adventure" Spyro 1 is pure, elegant in simplicity, well-packed. Not perfect, but heartful. Reignited version is nice too, but I will always prefer the nostalgic touch of the original release. And, as for you, the demo disc was dream materials !
I binged your TR stuff and right after finishing the Last Revelation video, I went straight here. I love these videos, and these types of videos. Just something very grounded here and relatable. I am sorta excited for the idea of seeing your takes on the rest of the trilogy. Spyro... was a huge part of growing up for me. So when Enter the Dragonfly was a thing and it killed the Franchise for me... yeaah... Anyways, I subbed.
Omg omg omg omg!!! Just after bingeing all your Tomb Raider videos, I find you reviewed Spyro as well! Yeah, you've got a new subscriber 😉 Looking forward to Gateway to Glimmer (or Ripto's Rage) and Year of the Dragon!! 😁
This game changed my world, and it was all thanks to the purple dragon. After playing Sonic 2 on the SEGA Genesis in North America, the PlayStation 1 became my favorite console, and the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy has been my number one favorite games of all time. Along with Doom, Sonic 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Call of Duty 2, etc. Amazing review and the beginning of you saying "thank you for releasing me" was funny
I remember when I played this I never liked the "Flight levels" so I never finished the game it wasn't til I was in my late 20s where I gained wisdom and patience. Overall it is my favorite non linear game.
Just found your channel and I love it. Have watched nearly all your vids and want more :] you remind me of an youtuber I used to watch and I think its cool youre Swedish or German! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more vids
Honestly bro your reviews are outstandingly good. My childhood consisted of the Tomb raider originals and Spyro. For me in christmas 2001 i remember receiving what i thought was spyro 1 & 2, it turned out that my dad had purchased YOTD so that was my first experience of spyro thinking that was spyro 1, shortly after i played and loved gateway to glimmer(i'll always call it that :D) Then many years later i played spyro 1 and fell in love again. I Genuinely think Spyro 1-3 and Tomb Raider 1-3 are the greatest trilogies in gaming and certainly on the PS1. I loved Reignited and i cannot wait for Tomb raider remastered and finally play the elusive lost artifact, BTW i'm rewatching your TR reviews again to get hype for february's release. Keep up the amazing work bro your reviews are the best around for these classics. big fan from 🇮🇪
Spyro the Dragon is definitely a classic for me as well and whenever I see the CD cover for it, it transports me back to those simpler times. I know that the first game is considered barebones compared to the sequels but personally the first one is a "comfort game" for me. Mainly because I remember playing it a lot and getting so immersed in it thanks to the colorful worlds ad the beautiful music. However I embarrassingly admit that as a kid, I never did beat the game. In fact during my first play through as soon as I entered the Toasty world/boss, I was terrified of the place. The scary dogs, the creepy old guys, the hell inspired color palette, and the creepy sounding music? It was all too much for 8 year old me and it was so bad that I quit the game and would only replay the first few levels over and over until it was time to go to Toasty. I eventualy learned that you could skip levels and did just that but I only ever made it as far as the Beast Maker's homeworld as a child and even then, I get freaked out in the Misty Bog with those creepy plant monsters. Yeah I was a scaredy cat as a kid lol But eventually I did come back to the game as a teenager and managed to get to al the worlds and complete the story and levels (but not 100%, I did that in my late teens) I totally felt you on the Wizard Peak thing, I felt so dumb when I discovered that pathway as a well haha. And I agree with you on Tree Tops. It was annoying at first but once you get the supercharge down, it's actually quite fun. Also on the voice actors, I liked Carlos Alazraqui;s voice for him too. I don't mind Tom Kenny and he makes Spyro a friendly goofball (and I mean that in a good way) but Carlos' portrayal was great too and even if Spyro came across as edgy, it just worked for the 90s and I can't hate on it, it fit the character just fine. I agree with you on the music, I too believe that Spiyo the Dragon's OTS is one of the best video game osts ever made. Stewart Copeland really hit it out of the park where all the songs are great and memorable. It's hard to choose 10 songs because the list is always changing so instead, I'll just name 3 that I usually always comes back to and those are the themes for 1. "Toasty" - I used to be scared of it as a kid but as I got older, I grew to love it. I love how creepy and ominous it sounds yet also has a chill vibe to it when it gets to the chorus bit ad it has a beautiful bridge back to the intro. 2. "Dark Hollow" - Dark but calm theme with that nice backing synth throughout. It's a theme that always stuck in my mind. 3. "Blowhard" - Not sure why but it's just another one that I went back to a lot whenever I was listening to Spyro music. It's also cool that the intro of it sounds similar to The Police's "Invisible Sun" song haha ( th-cam.com/video/pULqJIJVgWc/w-d-xo.html ) Overall I too really adore Spyro 1 as well. The latter games are better in terms of true game quality (better bosses and more challenges) but Spyro 1 will always be a classic. The Reignited Trilogy remake of it was beautifully done but I still go back to the original because nostalgia and what you said easily applies to me as well as whenever I play the original, I feel like a kid again and it just takes me back to simpler times as well :)
Dude I found you for the classic Tomb raider stuff which was neat by the way. Any chance you are going to review TR Chronicles too? Genuinely curious about your take on it.
Never played a Spyro, but if I ever pick it up, I'd rather play these original versions than the recent Remakes. There's something about 90's 32 bit texture warped graphics that make me a happy camper
One of the many PS1 games I have played and enjoyed but never actually completed. I can't think of many 3D (or 2D) platformers I actually have completed, for that matter. I just suck at them! Combination of me getting frustrated too easily + the PS1's weird textures. PS1 racing games are another matter as I find them easier to play, except for rally or F1 games which I also suck at! Would be interested to hear your take on A Bug's Life also for PS1.

HOW do you only have 4k subs? I've been running through your vids during work.
This is all great. I want more!!!!
If only I knew...😅 It's so hard to get views and subscribers as a small TH-camr. At least for me. But thank you!

@@GFrom No problem. You honestly seem like a guy who would be cool to do gaming with in general.
Played all three as a kid and I still love the now. Spyro 3 is my favorite and one of my favorite games of all time

@@GFrom can't wait for it, spyro 2 is amazing, so many good worlds & brilliant music in there. It's always a joy to play through.

I have a microwavable sheep toy that i named Toasty because of the first boss to this game :)
Also, the music in this game is S tier!
I love this game, the very first game I ever played when I first started gaming.
It’s so weird seeing those fat pal jewel cases we got little dinky cd cases over here in the states wtf
I got into Crash as a kid and never got around to trying out Spyro even though I do own the games now. I definitely should give them a shot.

I have never played this game before. But now i am going to buy it. Looks really fun to play. Gruß, Mutti
started watching this last night but couldn't finish cause i fell asleep. sorry man here in the states the sun is already down when you upload.
Don't worry about it :)
@@GFrom here's a tip for this game if you don't think your gonna make a glide right at the end if you press down and X spyro will get a little lift.
🎉
Hey! Would love to see your reaction to the Tomb Raider remaster that's been announced! :)
Hey, I don't have much to say yet. Maybe when it's been released.
I’m replaying this now and I swear I used to be able to super charge better than I can now. So many deaths 😂 sorry spyro
This game gave me horrible existential anxiety when I was a kid so I never played it again
Still the best Spyro game.
The two sequels are fine but a bit too childish for my taste.
Is parasite eve in the cards???
Never played it sadly.
@@GFrom it's worth a shot
I remember first playing this through the demo in Crash Bandicoot Warped!
