It's because Kickstarter watched TH-cam videos calling the devs scammers.
Everyone who is into game development knows that those games are very expensive (> M) mostly because of the high amount of different content and progression. There are also two big technical problems: networking with high player counts and fps optimisation. Impossible for a small unknown indie team and a clusterfuck of assets.

Unity has the most basic networking system out there, even easier with FREE assets.
The most expensive thing would be running the servers, that's about it. $50 a month WOWEEE.
pretty easy to pay once you actually release something because you won't need it till then.

When i first saw the footage of RAW i got interested. But after a few days i found this channel BigFry which i got hooked on partly because included in the title was "RAW". First i was like "Oookaaay????", "What the hell is going on?".
When i browsed the net shortly after seing this video of yours i could not find anything on Killer Whale Games. Which i thought was odd. I liked the look and the idea of this 'RAW' game so thought about backing them up. But your video sent me some much needed red flags (Which i am thankful for) to hold my money with backing them up. I could have made a big mistake there. But as anyone into these kinda scam companies: "If something seems to be to good to be true.. it probably is to good to be true"

They were probably planning to release the "gameplay" after the kick starter ended. Of course there is no gameplay that is why it was delayed. They were just going to take the money and disappear.

That they use unity assets is known and has been stated by the devs themselves. So this isn't an issue.

Theory as to why Kickstarter canceled 24hrs prior:
They were probably in talks behind the scenes. Kickstarter likely demanded information from killerwhale games and gave them until 24 hours, pretty much the last minute, to deliver that information and killerwhale didn't deliver.

Woah, last night I was on their Kickstarter about to pledge, then got distracted and forgot about it. Went on my computer after work today and saw the window still open and was like "oh right!". So I tried to pledge but it wouldn't work so I tried refreshing the page, which brought me back up to the top where I saw it was suspended. Crazy
I almost pledged a week ago... I chose Dead Matter instead, there's real progress.

That response to “shitstarter” was unprofessional as hell and makes this seem more of a scam then it was before mans mad he didn’t get his money.

After watching: I didn't back it because I've seen this scam time and time again but I agree I would like more precise info as to why they stopped it. What did they find exactly and does it prove definitively that it was a scam?

If what they say they have done is true and have been working on it for 3 years. Or even if they exaggerated and its only been a year. They could have a EA release within a year and a final product a year later theoretically. Because what we all are doing is theorizing, bud. So Its not out of the question to be on similar timeline as I propose. You might want to slow your roll and realize you dont know everything nor do I.

You think that you worked only an hour, but it turns out it's been a whole day. We understand all skepticism, its fully justified, but the two of them cannot give everything at once. What about Alex said on Kickstarter - sorry he shouldn't, he was very upset about whats happening and emotions took over, we're really sorry about that, by the way he should send some screenshots of what he does. Alex writing some code, bull. Just put what you do for your code check in. Could be something like "working on collision mechanics" or "Put logic in to handle null event" definitely scam or really bad developer that isn't organized.
Let's be real. There is absolutely no way two developers can make a game of this scale, with only 200k. You'd need millions just to get actual gameplay mechanics in, and millions more for the netcode and other such infrastructure for inventory system, etc. All your "gameplay trailers" are prescripted scenes, with practically 95% of the assets and code for the scene bought from asset stores. You don't even have a working prototype. Either you are incredibly dumb for thinking you can make a game of this scale with 2 people and a couple hundred thousand dollars, or you're scamming people for their money. I guess the latter.

I was sceptical of Star Citizen (glad never gave them a cent) due to shady practices from the start, and their game is is on the same scale that they are planning. 200K and they think they can do what Star Citizen hasn't done with 200million.

Of course it was a scam, It looked bad. Which pretty much all RP games are scams to begin with, You need a solid base before you ever think about roleplaying elements(For example Farming simulator, You have a farming base and you can role play multiple different things(Lumber mill) etc etc)
Plus the devs kept prolonging things, It takes literally 10 minutes to show off assets or a build/gameplay which they kept delaying.
Also just a note the other roleplaying game you covered looks the same as this so it could be the same devs(different names) Hence the suspension

Unpopular opinion, instead of that ambitious RP nobody asked for, they should use the resources they have and make a driving game, maybe a driving adventure game (since Driver is kind of dead and games like Midtown Madness and Felony 9/11 are not even remembered)
But there is actually a massive demand for an RP sandbox game and the nearly 200,000€ in funding is proof of that...

I think it was a smart move by Kickstarter, you said they lose money and they technically do. But they didnt damage there reputation (which is way more important). If it turns out not to be a scam Kickstarter can always apologize knowing they did it for the benefit of the community, and if it is a scam then then provided reliable security to their community.
In either situation kickstarter wins and can be viewed as a reliable company who puts its consumers first.
a impressum is required by german law to be on every germany based website. The impressum contains the full name and adress of the website owner wich can be a company or individual

Whatever reason Kickstarter had to do this, they were missing out on $10K for doing so.. So I doubt they took this decision lightly. They most likely had very good reason to do so. My bet is that they had them on their radar for a long time, since they waited until the very end to do so.
@Bob Marly Yup, better safe than sorry. Easier to potentially reinstate a project after proof is provided, than to refund all those donations and the mess that follows.
They most likely were keeping an eye on them for a long time and found them very shady. They still wanted to give them a chance until the deadline was only 1 day away and promises were still not delivered. At that point they had no choice than to shut it down because it had scam written all over it.
The reason to my knowledge was because they listed they were planning to use Indigogo after the KS too. Which is against ToS.
I mean I ain’t gonna play the game if that’s how the developers respond.. no professionalism... simply we are aware of the situation... we are working to improve the situation and thank you for your continued support.. would be a better fucking message

Article on PCGamesN indicated that Kickstarter suspended the campaign because initially they said the goal would be used to fully fund the game however in an update, the campaign came clean that they would have to raise additional money outside the campaign. Apparently this is a no no with Kickstarter since it wasn't stated clearly for backers but made in an update.
Makes sense, money raised needs to be what is needed.
Like I said last time, all their vehicle assets are directly modeled after real life counterparts with the branding stripped off. Even Rockstar has to change up their models to not look 100% like real life ones to avoid copyright issues and cost. How are these devs able to openly use those assets is a big red flag.

Thanks, I really wanted in on this project but I didn't want to be scammed by another developer and shell out 3 grand on a fake game. when I first saw this game I honestly wanted to get right into it and pay 3 grand to have 20 copies of this game for me and my friends and finally get away from GTA 5 but you saved the day. if this really was going to be a game where is the game play footage they promised?

I feel like most of these projects actually start off with good intentions and then very quickly the devs realise that their ambitions aren’t realistic and so just try and put out SOMETHING to get their pay check before ditching

Using paid assets is not a scam there are plenty of reputable games that use them, heard of pubg like 80% paid assets. And how can everyone especially XLfry even state that $200k wont be enough to make the game. Yeah they said they figure they need $300k to finish it but not to get it on early access $72k is what they need for that.
I not saying it wasnt a scam or overly optimistic but all the hate and scam flagging leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I really hope they do what they say and make the game promised and show all of you, you were wrong. And leaves a permanite scar on the youtubers that called them out.

In my opinion when a new developer who wants to make their own game wants help from the consumer they need to already have a beta game from sweat from The Grind and say the game mechanics are there just need help and money for the graphical and few animation needed to finish the game with an ability to have an open beta
