  • I'm slowly exposing the roots on my Witches tree, a Thuja occidentalis that is growing over a rock.
I get a visit from Patrick and he brought me some Cashew seeds from the country Lao!

Am amazed and it should be pointed out that you never falls into the trap and skip over knowledge you said in other videos and always decribing what you doing in every movie. I mean you do it in knowing that every video could be the first movie someone is watching. Simply professional and I think it is easy to forget when doing many videos !

Having packed the kids off to school, I can now relax and enjoy the lesson. 0 degrees here this morning, and heavy frost, so no bonsai work for me! (But the hot coffee and warm fire are very welcome)

Giant sequoia seeds tend to have high germination rate, but they often germinate days or even weeks apart. Once you are satisifed with how many you have, remove them from the greenhouse to a place where they have few hours of light in the morning and shade at noon. Slowly transition them to full sun.

Great work on this tree! One of your comments reminded me that I should let my bonsai grow out more fully during the summer. I generally cut them back fairly often. (Was trained to do that by my bonsai sensei. He told us that because we grow trees in south Florida we should be cutting them back more often.) Loved seeing the hen taking the dirt bath. When you said she was 10 years old I wondered when she would become dinner. LOL. Thanks for all your wonderfully entertaining and informative videos.

Fascinating video, Nigel and particularly like your use of moss to bind the roots to the rock. But how do you stop the birds pecking the moss off?? Wish I could!

Namaste Nigel. I try many seeds of flower plants or trees aswell. but they germinate but soon all get damping off. So my success rate is not even 5%. A request, As you able to have good success rate with seeds. can you please do a vedio on how you prevent your seeds from damping off ??

I feel like you're stuck somewhere inbetween making aged trees and making them look as pretty as possible *right now*.
I liked the root that didn't go radial. also do the roots grow thicker faster if you cover them with differnt soil types?
