That was quite the treatment for your first bonsai. The aerial roots experiment, and now defoliation and top pruning, as well as the repot, too. Now it's set to become and even greater tree in the future. It already looks awesome now with all the new roots!
WOW. wow I can't believe the roots on this thing! Congratulations on a successful rooting experiment and a drama-free repotting! Also, what fun to catch a little mouse run by as you chat with your handsome rooster friend.
As someone who loves to grow from seed, this is so inspiring. What a gorgeous tree! I always love your videos, Nigel. Informative as always, but you have such enthusiasm for the hobby.
I've recently quit perlite. From a recommendation from a senior club member, I use chicken grit #1. Only $8 for a 50lb bag! I'm sure you have that on hand all the time.
I have a family of racoons that comes through my backyard and rips trees out of the pots in the middle of the night. They are just exploring looking for food im sure. So far I've been able to notice most of the trees early in the morning so I can repot them, but one was not so fortunate and was left on the ground for a day. Not sure how to stop them from messing with my trees!

Patented new phrase: "Rectangling around the pot"™ 😆🤣🐦💙
Lol
I’m so happy Nigel, you’ve got this greenhouse. It’s so transparent how much joy it gives you and that it serves you well.
No one repots like Nigel. No one. You are so thorough with this... I have learned so much from you over the years. Thank You!

Great repotting Nigel! The ficus is looking fab! Interesting how sometimes they look as good or better without leaves.
!!ROOT WORK!!
This tree is a nice old style looking tree, in my view. Great root work will get this tree off to a great start.
Very cool! Great that the cut aerial roots will subdivide like that!

A masterclass in root pruning!
I’m not sure I really understand the look you’re going for with the aerial roots, but I’m sure it’ll turn out awesome as always with your trees👌🏻
Aww, it's cold! 😢
Ow! This ficus looks now so powerful with all those fine roots 🧡
I always love to see this Ficus Nice show Nigel!
Thanks! A great lesson!
A majestic tree. Beautiful.
I always enjoy watching you do rootwork, especially on ficuses. Thankfully you don't use the blue scissors then :)
I'm using wet cloth on Ficus trees for years when i have some exposed roots and it works really well .
That's fantastic
Thanks!!!

I'm surprised you left the aerial root on the right. It is outside the main profile....draws the eye hmmm....
