This ignores the fact that most of the Westside SHW monsters pulled sumo, in the suits, but it also ignores the fact that super-heavies are in it for absolute strength, not relative. They want to be seen to be the strongest in the region/state/planet. The 242s, on the other hand, are ruling the records right now, pulling sumo - some "feet touching plates" sumo - and they picked that for a reason. Some will tell you they care about more than just winning at all costs, others not. Small example, I was at a meet in Northern Ireland about two years ago. Out of 48 men, 44 pulled sumo. (that's not just "suiting their unique leverages"). Out of 19 women, 17 pulled conventional. When I spoke to the women after, many were clear that they pulled conventional because they knew (or felt), as women, there would be extra scrutiny, and they wanted to be seen to be strong in absolute terms, no "leverage advantage", no questions, and so on. Anyway, that was a repetitive ramble, but you get my point.

I guess he's so practiced and maintains his top brace so well that he doesn't need to rebrace at the bottom.
I though it only didn’t count if the bar moves down before moving up? That deadlift kind of halted but it didn’t lower at all. I’m not really familiar with the rules tho.

People that think "mass moves mass" is a linear slope just need to see how Johns lifts compare to Jesus, if your lifts are literally comparable at almost 100kg less then one can easily see how the slope is more like a bell curve than a straight line.

Obviously it's not linear, but it's closer to linear than some would think if you only compare lean mass. Those dudes are really fat and John is lean. He's also an outlier even amongst world elite lifters.
