Since the lift involves moving a weight off the ground while holding it in one's hands, it is imperative that straps be used to compensate for the lifter's inability to hold the weight in their hands. As the bar rises, the lifter must exhibit a cringe-inducing amount of lower back rounding as well as signs of excessive steroid use and/or questionable health, such as bleeding out of their head, nose or mouth. The completion of the lift should include five to ten seconds of hitching accompanied by a look of sheer agony on the lifter's face. Of course, the lifter is expected to drop the bar short of a full lockout since it is clearly impossible to stabilize that much weight for any period of time. Finally, after screaming and hollering for several seconds, the lifter is required to stare into the camera and make a baffling comment such as "what now bitch?" before abruptly ending the video. John's deadlifts fail every single one of these criteria and flat out don't count, in my book. In fact, he probably has the worst technique I have ever seen.

9:23 It's hard to say it's 7 billion people. If every person on the planet was lifting weights at all, he wouldn't be #1. There's an entire segment of the population who's genetics will never be tested. It's not like every person who has great genetics gets a diehard interest in power lifting at the ideal age. Likewise, most successful powerlifters happened to do just that. The number of people that even have access to a gym is certainly no where close to 7 billion, let alone first world medical care and sports specific training. I think a lot of sports today haven't seen peak performance. This is especially true for sports that aren't purely skill based. Soccer, for example, isnt going to benefit massively from medical advancements. Tommy John surgery is a good example of a medical advancement that has helped though. New science could absolutely benefit powerlifters, particularly for enhanced lifters. So regardless of genetic potential, the sports science is still evolving. Recovery is improving, medicine is improving, and there's always more new data coming out disapproving old theories.

It's because he uses a supinated grip. To provent back problems from the lift spinning to the right as he is pulling, he places his right foot an inch closer to the bar. It's why he always locks out his right leg first.
If that man went to the 110kg class and filled it he could break the absolute atwr in sleeves lol
I'm pretty sure John did a small strongman competition and came in either 1st or 2nd place.
He did (one of our members competed in his class) but it was a very low level show
I think he would be great at Have weight strong man tooo
Pbenedicht magnusson deadlift raw is the best Ever
Does anyone here believe John hack could deadlift 1000 lbs or no?
Idk if it's the most impressive single lift, but factoring in he has a 600 lb bench too makes it unreal. Although both gym lifts, so no cut.
John pulls the slack and transitions to the pull immediately, it becomes a fluid movement.
I agree on the set up
I've noticed a lot of the top powerlifters now try to make it sound WAY more complicated than it is. Jamal browner completely messed up Larry wheels deadlift trying to give him unnecessary cues
Am I missing something but don't the strongman pull over 1000 lbs?
Yes, but under different circumstances, using deadlift suits, straps and different standards for a good rep. Thor has the record at 501kg (1105lbs) but could only pull 903 in his last powerlifting meet, which is the same weight John pulled here at half the weight.
Greatest Strength Feat of All Time? My 135 bench when i was 15
lol meanwhile his last meets totals is ridiculous
Doesn't make sense how a lifter could be so disgustingly strong in both bench and deadlift.
Kinda wish he had more deadlift optimized leverages, so we can see a 220 pull 1000 lbs conventional lol
Yep, Towmater...the rusty forklift. Mhm... definitely a forklift.
Dont swear
No
I think he has some genetic predisposition for strength whether it be muscle fiber recruitment or his cns is just able to grind through shit. Freaky genetics
Oly lifter aka Clarence Kennedy
Just looks like Larry wheels deadlift to me
But Larry is 280 and deadlifted only 40lbs more in a suit and straps
@@callumaston1598 the technique I mean
Why does it look like he breathes out before getting down
He recently talked about his deadlift setup briefly on Mark Bells channel th-cam.com/video/Bh3h6bVXQOw/w-d-xo.html
