Happy to hear that I'm not the only one who will switch around sensitivity while aim training. Always grinding to see if anything works better and in what situation. Been loving these videos! Keep up the good work
Makes sense. You can pretty much relate it to working out. Say you're stuck at doing 15 pull ups and can't get past that. If you work out the individual muscles that you use to do a pull up eventually you'll be able to surpass that number
I changed sensitivity since I can remember (33 years old now), I never had the feeling it impacted me, I switches from 70cm/360 to 20cm/360 and still came out pretty decent it's all in the head, if you overthink this it will have an effect on you. Plus like Dazs said, it gives you a breath of fresh air.
I did so as well but after i got comfortable with a lower sens, increasing it proved 100% to be worse for me. Can't track well with high sensitivity. Just ny experience
I love how 6 years ago as a console player, I was watching NoVa to see how battlefield montages were actually done. ( trying to replicate them myself in my own way ). Now I recently started switching to PC an im still here watching this channel, watching for a whole different reason. Seriously cool to think about.
Thx m8. Im kind a new to this and your videos have helped my improvement in aiming in a huge way. When i started to play apex legends (my first fps game) it took me like 10-15 games to get my first kill🙈 now im use to get to platinum and even manage to reach dimond one season. I am so happy ppl like you exist. Keep up the good work👊
Always thought that the muscle memory thing is BS! In a game like apex, you use various types of scopes with different types of zoom and hence different types of sensitivities so you should focus on the ability to adapt.
Apex scales the same sensitivity across scopes using 0% monitor distance matching, this basically means that your sens on 2x sight at 200 meters is exactly the same as a 1x sight at 100 meters.
In my experience, I adjust in a few minutes and think "wow this is better for me, much lower", but next day I suck and I realize it was a big mistake and the one I'm used to I should stick to. Not saying muscle memory is real, but what's real is my wrist, it wants that sens for a reason
I really enjoy all your recent content about the "physiology" behind aiming. Most of youtubers/streamers aren't interested by aim trainers and all the stuff around aim training in general. "aIM TraIN3rs Ar3 UseLeSs, jUsT plAy th3 game y0u waNt t0 B3 GooD"
Great video man! It makes sense now why I used to be able to play on stupidly high sensitivities on a controller with no problem off the start. I’m still in the faster side on m&k but it’ll be experimenting more after this!
I think when most people talk about muscle memory, all they're referring to is the "comfort zone" or the actions they're used to repeating. According to your video, comfort zone and getting used to repeated actions is very real. I'm not seeing how it's a meme.
There is an issue on most videos and forums where they truly believe doing the same movement and changing a sensitivity destroys your aim. The way peeps should approach it is that they are improving hand eye coordination no matter what if they are actually practicing and looking to grow!
Muscle memory still exists? There's physical changes around motor neurons that can be observed which proves it does exist. I do agree that I'm most cases your hand-eye coordination and dexterity are going to be a bigger determining factor on whether you hit your shot or not, but that doesn't mean that muscle memory doesn't exist or that you debunked it.
Issue for those gaming is they focus on "If I move my hands this way XYZ amount of times, I can perfect my aim" But as you stated and I did as well, its about the physical changes, mouse control, growing, improving. I and well as the those who are aim enthusiast want those who strive for improvement NOT to be afraid to work those muscles by changing a sensitivity, trying a new grip style, finding what is comfortable or even not comfortable to grow. So your comment is exactly my point. :)
my only problem with muscle memory is when im holding a corner, then shoot from absolutely butt fuck nowhere even though nobody even went past the corner
Very interesting video, with clearly a lot a passion behind it. You have a new subscriber in me! One thing I was wandering while watching this: Should the whole idea of a muscle memory be disregarded now, or only some aspects of it? And how are things like flick shots possible if it isn't for some kind of memory?
The goal is to push people to learn muscle control. The more control you have within your muscles the better you are going to be flexible to any variable and situation. Flicking to the same spot will build muscle control. But its more effective to have overall control so flicks anywhere are easier.
@@Dazs Thank you very much for the quick reply. Much appreciated :-) I will probably have quite a few more questions in the future, so I took the chance to join your discord server. Sounds like I'd be at the right place with you guys :-)
wow the timing. ive been binge watching your vids (again). but this time i just searched muscle memory myth and it says you uploaded 12 hours ago :D haha
3:09 the mouse pad point doesn't take anything away from muscle memory. if something is gonna change that causes the variable to change then it's obviously going to impact the aim? but if the mouse pad doesn't change then the there's no need for adaptation. Muscle memory is real those who make well worded nonsense to disprove it are just trying to make a point that isn't there to prove. that's why someone who hasn't played smash Bros melee in 10 years can pick up and instantly wavedash. And with a few weeks/months be at the same level of player as they were 10 years ago. people like to use the word muscle memory and give it its own terms , but someone who has been on the same sensitivity for 10 years is going to have a better feel / control of their mouse then someone who has just played pc for one week and switched their sensitivity everyday.
The argument for the mouse pad is simply a way to highlight a bigger issue for muscle memory: variables. In a game where you have to react by coordinating your eyes and your hands incredibly fast, no muscle memory can form because there's too many possible movements your mouse can make. Moreover, this is about FPS games, and muscle memory doesn't apply to it like it does in smash. In smash or any other fighting game you need to follow precise inputs very quickly, that means that you CAN develop muscle memory to accurately hit those buttons in quick succession, but that simply does not apply to the aiming of an FPS because you're not constantly repeating a string of combos. An on your last point, are you crazy? Of course someone who has been playing for 10 years will have a better feel than someone who has played for one week, just like I'll cook enchiladas better than you if I've been doing it for 10 years and you've been doing it for 1 week 😂 Sensitivity is totally irrelevant if you're comparing someone with 10+ years of experience to someone with 1 week, it's absurd to even imply what you just did because the metrics used are extreme.
Goal of the video is to push people away thinking they memorize movement. You are building muscle. Not the movement. Because movement changes. You know? Maybe mouse mat is more humid, maybe it’s dirtier, maybe it is more broken than a month ago. But your hand muscles do grow. Meaning you can change sensitivity settings and still perform great.
